iCal has stopped syncing using .mac and I can't use iCloud because I'm on Snow Leopard (can't upgrade yet due to Lion's lack of support of previous versions of Microsoft Office). The iCal sync option is turned on in system preferences. Has Apple changed something already in .mac to cause this?

My son's Nokia 5230 has happily synced with my Mac since July 2010, however since March we have been unable to sync. Each time we try we get the following message - "Monday, 16 April 2012 16:41 [Nokia 5230] Device is not available or synchronization was canceled. All has synced well for quite some time. Last night, I created appointment on iPad and in synced with all. This AM created appointments on iMac and does not sync. I have looked at the calendar in iCloud and new stuff is not there. I have checked to make sure all calendars are turned on and the the iMac calendar in checked in the sync menu.

After changing my iCloud password, iCal on one of my computers stopped syncing. I assume I need to enter the new iCloud password, but can't figure out where.

Loaded 10.6 last night and everything appeared to go well. However, when I opened iCal, ALL of my appointments, birthdays, events, etc. had disappeared. Unfortunately I had not backed up iCal before loading SL.
I have good SuperDuper backups of the system and I have Time Machine backups of everything, but I don't see a way to extract the appointment data from those.
Trying to get them to talk to each other - I've input the Google account into iCal preferences, and it shows up fine. But I seem only able to sync one way - if I add an appointment in Google Calendar - then sync - it shows up fine in iCal. But if I add an event in iCal and then sync - it doesn't show up on the Google Calandar.
"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:

For some reason I'm finding this harder than I should! I'm ticking the check box to tell Address Book to sync with Google, and it accepts my username and password fine. The problem is nothing gets synced. I have a full Address Book but nothing gets moved over to Google Contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedApple's new OSX Snow Leopard includes native Exchange email sync using Exchange Web Services but it seems that this does not sync emails in the same way outlook does: emails on Mail.app only update when you open a specific folder on your exchange mailbox (like IMAP does) and not like Outlook on windows where folders are updated in the background. does anyone know about this behavior and if it can be changed on Mail to work in the background? I've only tried this on a developer beta (latest version) of SL briefly and noticed this behavior but would like to get feedback from those that may have upgraded.

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro with SL.
My iCal is behaing exceptionally weird. I can't resize my screen. If i change from month to week it stops showing some events, every time I hit the "Show To-Do's" Button it doesn't work and alot of other bugs that make it absolutely unusable.
I've tried re-installing it from the SL DVD, upgrading to 10.6.1 (from software update AND apple's download page), and even trying to delete all my calendars info form my library. Nothing worked.
how do you restore iCal data in Snowleopard, as was it was wiped during sync update?

How to make the contacts I have through the Mail program sync up or copy over to my Address Book? Speaking of which, does anyone know how to delete contacts from my Mail? When I go to send an email it can populate the send field with previously-written to contacts, but I can't seem to delete some I don't need/use. That's when I found out that my Address Book doesn't reflect the same things which lead me to asking.

I waited a long time to upgrade my MacBook to Snow Leopard, mostly because I didn't really need any of the speed increases or other updates, and because I remained concerned about having new bugs in my system. I was always happy with Leopard and never had any issues. I finally did upgrade to SL, and iCal is giving me hell. Its tough to explain the problems that its causing. Basically, the boxes get out of alignment (see attached screenshot), then stuff disappears, sometimes will come back if I click forward a month and then back. If I do this more than one or two times, it just straight up crashes. It is incredibly frustrating. Has anyone else run into similar iCal issues? I feel like a calendar program is one of the more straightforward things Apple has to work on, so I am really surprised that out of everything, this is the biggest upgrade problem I have run into.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI finally updated my Mac from Leopard 10.5.8 to 10.6. I got all the latest updates (10.6.8) and am still transferring my apps but having trouble with Apple's Address Book and iCal. I did an export from both on my 10.5 OS then tried importing them into the respective apps under 10.6 When I try that iCal it says "nothing changed". Address Book just hangs. I still have my old 10.5 OS installation on another drive in my Mac Pro and can boot into it if necessary.

And I'm still using OS10.6, haven't moved to Lion yet, so I can't use iCloud. Do I have to give up on sharing my iCal calendars? I don't really like using google calendars to share, but that's the only alternative i can figure out.

My ical is not syncing with my iPhone 4s. I had mobileme and upgraded to iCloud. I also have Mac Lion and feel like I have all the upgrades required, but any time I enter a new event in my iCal, it never transfers to my iPhone. Note: when I enter an event in my phone, it DOES transfer properly to my iCal on my Mac.

Whenever I make events in ical, it default creates an hour-long event. I find myself using ical's events more as a specific to-do list, so every day I would prefer these events to be "all-day." I'm getting tired having to tinker around so much whenever I make an event on a date, especially when there's multiple on every day.I've read online that apparently in 10.7(lion) that people are having the opposite problem and would prefer for events to be defaulted as a specific time frame.
I've read suggestions to open terminal and type in:
defaults write com.apple.iCal 'Default duration in minutes for new event' 15
Which brings me to my question: is there any way in the terminal to change it to automatically make events checked "all-day."
