OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Can't Digitally Sign And Encrypt Email Any Longer
Apr 20, 2012I used to sign and encrypt my emails digitally and then send them to people. I had two email certificates from Comodo, and it's been a while they're expired. so I renewed my certificates and deleted the old ones from my keychain, then downloaded and added the new ones. The trouble is I no longer get the digitally sign the message and encrypt the message button when I compose a new email.

Mar 24, 2012Recently started getting 4 to 5 duplicate emails from AOL when I sign in thru the Mac Mail application. It doesn't occur in Mail with my Comcast email account. Each sign in adds another duplication going back several months in the mail history. Am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on an iMac.

Sep 1, 2008I have a Dish Network DVR 625 and am trying to figure out how to transfer digital video from the DVR to my MacBook. The DVR has a USB port on the back of it, but as far as I know, it's useless. I know about transferring it via analog and then back to digital, but that takes a while and you lose quality. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to transfer the actual DVR files digitally.

Jan 29, 2009Im looking for some good software that i can take some notes on for my college classes. Now when i say notes. i don't mean during lectures. Im a pencil and paper kind of guy when it comes to that. Im looking for a way to digitally condense my notes. Ive tried using word, openoffice, pages etc. but these just don't "feel" right. Im looking for something that gives me more room for formatting other than paragraph form. Im also working with some pretty complex physics equations. So i would like to have an equation editor built in. Im usually allowed a paper crib sheet for my tests at my college. (btw a crib sheet is a piece of paper that you can bring into the test and write whatever you want on it) So im looking for a way to condense my semester notes into a couple of sheets of paper.

Dec 15, 2008A friend of mine downloaded leopard osx 10.5 off the internet, and told me it was a full version. But when i pop it in my MBP it comes up with the apple logo with the spinning loading sign at the bottom, and then the apple logo turn's into a stop sign, no disk movement no nothing just a stop sign. I'm was wondering if anyone can tell me what the stop sign is, i've tried booting it off my external hard drive but comes up with a folder sign and a question mark in the middle

Apr 14, 2007my Dad has to fill out some forms and they are available online in PDF format. He can edit them in Safari, but once we save the forms we are unable to edit them. The weird thing is when I first save it I could edit it, but once I saved it again it wouldn't let me change anything. This is very strange, I've tried Preview and Adobe Reader.

Feb 10, 2008I downloaded the latest tax forms from the IRS in pdf form, and filled out all my tax information using preview. When I finished, I saved the form, but all the data I entered was lost. Can you not fill out pdf forms in preview? I did find a workaround. I filled in some data, then "printed" to a pdf file, and that saved all the entered data. Any insight into this issue?

Sep 24, 2010Today (in the latest version of Safari, of course) I repeatedly tried to fill out a captcha form, and later a password form on different website. Both forms went through fine in Firefox. Is this a common problem or will I have to experiment with deleting preferences, etc.?
Also: I tried a login at another website, which worked fine. But the captcha and the other password form refuse to work.

I am on a Mac using CS3 and Acrobat Professional (8). My plan was to use InDesign to design the form, then Adobe Acrobat to create the forms portion. Should I upgrade or should I look for another forms program?

Jun 13, 2009... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Intel Mac :: Software Update - In All Its Forms - Fails?
Mar 18, 2012Whenever I click on the Apple logo and Software Update, the progress bar gets to about 20% in 3 or 4 seconds and then never moves again. I've left it for over an hour, no change. If I go to Boot Camp Assistant and try to Download the latest Windows support software from Apple, it gets to about 5% in 3 or 4 seconds and then never moves again. I can download from the web and other internet based services work. I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 2011 iMac. I've tried creating a new user. I've also tried starting in Safe Mode. I have reinstalled Lion. No change.Â

The site is all PDF files, not Flash that I can tell. Did the new update disable Click to Flash or something. It happening both in Safari and Firefox.

Dec 15, 2010How do you delete specific search items in your (browser) form history? I don't mean a blanket "clear all", I just want to delete my typos. In Windows, you just need to scroll down to it and hit "delete". Doing that on Mac only erases a character from your search.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Software Update After Snow Leopard Clean Install
Jul 3, 2012Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store).When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.
I began researching this problem online and found that other people have been experiencing this same problem (or some variation of it), and it seems like it began appearing around the time Apple updated some of its security certificates in March.In particular, I've found several references to the missing iPhoto update.This one is especially noticeable because an iPhoto library created in iPhoto 9.2.3 will not open in iPhoto 9.0, and this generates an error upon opening the program (i.e., a user backs up their iPhoto library created in 9.2.3, performs a SL clean install, reinstalls iLife, goes through the Software Update process until it shows that no more updates are available, and are shocked to find that they are unable to open their backed up iPhoto library because they have an out of date version of iPhoto).The most common (and admittedly logical) solution proposed in the threads I've read is to download any necessary updates directly from the Apple website. However, I am curious as to why this previously functional feature now appears to be broken.Has anyone else been struggling with this? Does it indeed have something to do with the new security certificates? Is Apple aware of the problem?

May 30, 2009This has been bugging me for months, so I'm hoping someone out there can answer this query. Our county changed our house number several months ago. I use auto-fill on Web page forms very frequently. Of course, every time I auto-fill my address info, my original house number comes up, and I have to edit it to the new number. I've searched around, but I have not been able to locate where the data for filling in the forms are kept, or any procedure available for changing what data Safari uses to auto-fill. Does anyone know how to accomplish this feat?

May 13, 2012I'm a new safari user. in firefox, for example when I've searched "bacon" on one site, if I search it again on other website, bacon would show in the dropdown when I type "b." but in safari that's not the case. "bacon" only shows up on the website that I've searched it on. the same with forms. I have to type my e-mail on every website. it's tiring.
