OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Saving Messages From An Old Email Address?
Jul 3, 2012I would like to save the messages from my old .mac account but disable the account so that Mail doesn't search for new messages in it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have run into a similar problem before, when Address Book stopped accepting changes to contacts altogether. I followed advice I saw on the web and deleted the .plist files for Address Book in the Preferences file in my Library. That worked like a charm. Now, that doesn't work.
I have deleted the files, restarted my computer, verified and fixed permissions using Disk Utility, and let my computer rest overnight by leaving it off. Nothing works and I've tried several combinations of order. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8 on a first generation Intel MacBook Pro. All software is up to date

Isn't there a way to simply click on an email address contained in an email and have it automatically added to my address book as a contact?

I have a mobileme account with a further 3 names added using mail only. Because of legacy I cannot move to OS Lion at the moment. Can we still use our mac.com/me.com email addresses after June without signing up to icloud. If one or more of the email only account holders update to Lion and icloud, can they transfer their emai accounts without the main account holder doing so. If we all have other apple devices ie iphone and ipads, and sign up to icloud, can we then use our mobile me mail addresses also on our OS Leopard macs.

I have a POP email through Godaddy and I want to set it up in with the Mail app. However I do not want Mail to delete anything off the Godaddy server as I often need to reference my email through the webmail when at work. Is there a way to have the Mail app only delete messages off the server if I delete them in mail? Kind of want it to work like it does on my phone where it will show the messages but only deletes them off the server if I delete them on my phone myself.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do you address an email to a group with iCloud? I used to just type in the name of the group and all the addresses filled in. Since I've switched to iCloud it doesn't recognize the group name. If I select +, then the the group name I'm still asked to select individual recipients.

Maybe I'm a dumbass and missed something obvious, but in Leopard Mail, in the New Message window, there's a drop-down menu where you can choose which email to send the message from. But in Snow Leopard, the drop-down menu's not there, and I can't figure out how to choose which email address I want the message to be sent from. The only way I could do it is to click a message sent to that email address, then click New Message, the message will then send from that email address.
I have been getting other peoples mail for a little over 3 weeks now. Here is the deal:
My Email Address: gmbean@xxxxxxxx.xxx
I Receive A Message To: gamboawilmer@xxxxxxx.xxx
There are over 50 senders and it seems that it is a computer that is making these messages. There are huge misspellings and what's worse is that these emails are all sexually orientated. There are no pictures! But I didn't sign up for anything and I just started getting these emails all of a sudden. Each email sender is different (different address) and I have made over 30 rules in Mail Preferences to simply delete any mail from the sender(s) But I get a couple new senders every day. I' am going to have over 100 rules if this continues!
How do I block an email address from a computer that keeps sending me junk mail?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMany records in my address book have multiple email addresses. No big deal but I wonder if there is a way to tell Address Book / Mail which address to pick as the default.Â
For example I send a litttle news email one a week to a group of contacts. I want to send this email to people's personal -- not business -- email address. I've created a group in Address Book and type that group name in my Mail to line and the group pops up. But a few of the records pick the corporate address and I have to go in and change those addresses.Â
I just tried editing one record ... I deleted both "work" and "home" addresses from a record. Then reentered them "home" first, "work" second. But when I closed the edit Address Book listed them in the original order (maybe alpha).Â

The Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

I have a lot of multipage pdf's that I need to reduce in file size. They are scanned pdf's so no actual editable content.
If i select a page and 'save as' I can save to jpeg where I can reset the dpi of the page (currently 300dpi). This is Fine, but I need to do it to all the pages of the pdf. If I select all pages 'save as' will only save out one page and not all.
If I print and choose 'pdf to jpeg', It will save out all pages but I don't get the ability to reduce to dpi and the output jpgs are still huge. Is there a way to save to pages out in one go to jpeg where I can adjust the dpi setting?
I have tried using the reduce file size option, but the resulting pdf has lost too much quality and is unreadable. Once I have the reduced jpegs it's easy enough to reimport into preview and save as a pdf.Â

I received my copy of Snow Leopard and I would like to do a fresh install. However, in doing this, I will lose my copy of Norton Antivirus that I downloaded from my college. I cannot get another copy of this until January as I am not currently a student. Is there a way I can save this program so that I can do a fresh install versus simply upgrading?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded a bundled security update for Safari and several other Mac-type programs. Since then I've had several instances where the activity selected produced the spinning wheel which would not stop over time. I've used disk utility several times to repair extensions and verify/repair the Mac OSX. More times than not, the original problems have been right after I've tried to save a file or document by printing it to *pdf. Once I select this print option, I experience the spinning wheel, and it won't stop.

I'm running OS 10.6.8, TextEdit v 1.6 (264) and find that documents created in TextEdit and saved with a custom scale (90% for example) and then closed always revert to 100% when opened the next time. The funny thing is when I close the document after changing the scale without saving it prompts me to save the changes, but even then it's not saved. So I'm thinking this behavior isn't normal, TextEdit knows it's supposed to be saving this but for whatever reason it's not. This is more in the category of a nuisance than a problem but I thought I'd post and see if anyone knows anything about this.Â

Messages sent from my Macbook Air are not being saved to my Sent box when working from home. I have researched this issue online and can't find a solution. Discussion seems to indicate the Macbook Air Mail problem is common and well known, but Apple has not acknowledged or provided a fix.Â
This problem is not insignificant as I cannot use my Macbook Air for work-related activity at home. While I have all my email accounts synced with iCloud, the Macbook Air messages sent from home also do not appear on any of my other devices. I don't experience this problem at home if I use my iPad, and sent messages appear in my iPad Mail Sent box and on my other devices. Due to functionality issues, this means that I have to use my Samsung laptop if I work from home. Not a great recommendation for the utility and convenience of the much more expensive Macbook Air .
