Mar 10, 2012I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard Version 10.6.8. Can't receive nor send email. I have two email addresses using ATT. One address works, the other doesn't. The bad address is behaving weirdly: In Mail, in the "On My Mac" folder labeled "Recovered Messages," the contents refer to one email sent with a PDF file (19.7 MB). This email keeps cloning itself, and I keep deleting them. I resorted to deleting the PDF file from my computer. No luck. I recently changed my email addresses from AOL addresses to ATT (powered by Yahoo) addresses, in case this has anything to do with it. Have shut down computer and modem twice with no luck. The Mail Activity window is wild with activity, none of which I understand.

Sep 4, 2009I created a new account on my iMac so that she can use my iMac. I deactivated her email account in Mail in my account and activated it in Mail in her account. (Using 10.5.7 and Mail 3.6). She can send mail but not receive mail. If she sends me an email from her account, I can get it when I log in to Mail in my account. However, when I send an email to her, it is sent - but nothing shows up when Check Mail is clicked on her Mail. (If I reactivate her account in my Mail and click Check Mail, I can receive the messages that should have been sent to her account - but I don't want this to happen!).

Mar 16, 2012I have a mobileme account with a further 3 names added using mail only. Because of legacy I cannot move to OS Lion at the moment. Can we still use our mac.com/me.com email addresses after June without signing up to icloud. If one or more of the email only account holders update to Lion and icloud, can they transfer their emai accounts without the main account holder doing so. If we all have other apple devices ie iphone and ipads, and sign up to icloud, can we then use our mobile me mail addresses also on our OS Leopard macs.

May 4, 2012I have a POP email through Godaddy and I want to set it up in with the Mail app. However I do not want Mail to delete anything off the Godaddy server as I often need to reference my email through the webmail when at work. Is there a way to have the Mail app only delete messages off the server if I delete them in mail? Kind of want it to work like it does on my phone where it will show the messages but only deletes them off the server if I delete them on my phone myself.

Apr 13, 2012Sometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.

Jun 30, 2012The Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

Jul 1, 2012I'm on 10.6.8, I've just moved my mobileme email to iCloud and I've always been using the @mac.com address. After my move, and updating my desktop mailbox to IMAP, I don't receive any mails sent to @mac.com, only those sent to @me.com. (And any mails sent to aliases are not receieved either.) The mails are not received online on the web app either.

I'm trying to detect a pattern. I suspect that every time our family buys a new apple product we are hit with advertisements. I recently bought a new iPod Touch. Jul 2, 2012I cannot send mail. This has been an occasional problem. I'd send and a pop-up would offer me choice: Cancel, ~Trash, or Save as Draft. I'd save and successfully send as a draft. The last few days I've had to the saved draft and send in Eudora. Today I spent some time on this. At first it looked all right in Mail/Preferences/Accounts, smtp.west.cox.net.user name--then it persistently included (Offline), but Mail menu bar/ Window showed Take All Accounts Online dimmed and Take All Accounts Offline as the active option. At this time I could receive but not send mail. I have edited the smtp server list a number of times. No show of offline there. When I'm done (Offline) again pops up on theOutgoing Mail Server (SMTP). I deleted the account and recreated it and could not send. The (Offline) did not appear after the smtp.cox.net.user name. Early 2006 iMac, OS 10.6.8 The settings are OK, the same as in Eudora.

Oct 26, 2009I downloaded MSN for mac, months ago and everything was working fine. Now, I am having problems receiving instant messages from some of my msn contacts. It seems to happen with people with email addresses ending in [URL]. I send them a message and it says "so and so is typing a message" but nothing gets through, my chat window remains blank. I do not understand what is wrong as it is happening with people I used to speak with before and there were no problems, except they just cant contact me through msn now. They are not receiving any error messages and can get all my messages fine. I am using microsoft messenger for mac V7.0.2 and its on a Macbook Pro using OSX 10.5.6.
I do not have and do not use a .mac address, I use my [URL] address for everything
It wouldn't normally annoy me, but I have to use msn to speak with clients from overseas, and its already cost me project time and people also thought I was ignoring them. It has also botched up a date

Nov 22, 2009I have a MobileMe account and would like to receive incoming mail on both my laptop's Mac Mail and my work's Windows-based desktop. I thought I had achieved this when I set up my outlook to receive messages from the mobileme server, but now my Mail inbox shows up as empty.
I don't know the in's and out's of email protocols so I was just hoping someone could give me some basic instructions on how to correct the situation so that both locations have access to the email messages on the mobileme server.
