Whenever I go to download a program, it asks for a password but I have forgotten the password due to it being changed several times. How do I recover/reset it so I can allow downloads?
View 6 RepliesI had a network account 'sharedmail' on my server. I made some mistake with OpenDirectory and it disappeared from accounts in Workgroup Manager. The directory still exists with all its data. How can I recover this account (make it appear in Workgroup Manager)? This account only contains emails : if it can't be recovered, how can I import emails into a new account? All my users' account appear on login screen (yes, it is not safe but my network is private). This 'sharedmail' account also appears but I would like it to be invisible. I tried to lower its ID under 500 but it does not work : is there a way to hide this account?

I took my laptop in to a shop to have a new hard drive installed and the guy in the shop upgraded me to Snow Leopard. I then tried to use migration assistant to get my files back off an external HD and it's telling me my password and/or user name is incorrect. Is it possible the guy in the shop changed it? Is there a generic password when you reinstall things? Or do I need to restart my Macbook using the old Leopard disk?

I bought a used macbook that came with Leopard 10.5.8 I believe on it and I decided to delete the entire hard drive by going into disk utility and wiping it clean and then trying to install snow leopard like that... Unfortunately when I put the snow leopard install dvd in my macbook it is now not allowing me too install it saying "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer - This disk requires that Mac OS X 10.5 or later already be installed on your computer" Then it gives me the option to restore from back up (which there is no back up as the hard drive was wiped out)

I accidentally took my downloads folder off of my dock, and I figured out how to put it back on and use the settings I want. However, for some reason now .mp4 files won't appear in the stack or in the actual folder in Finder. They appear in the Safari downloads box, but not in the stack or folder. It's kind of frustrating, because it makes it difficult for it to find what I need.

I'm now going to be working from home so have set up a new user as Work. I've been using an IMAP mail service in Mail on the family user account and I've now set it up on the work account. If I delete the IMAP account from Mail in the family user account, will this delete my mail off the IMAP server so I cannot access it on the wrok user account?
