Apr 30, 2012
I have a powerbook G4 with OS X 10.4.11 that I never bothered to upgrade to 10.5, I would like to install Office 2011 but I need at least OS X 10.5.8. I can not find where to download 10.5 anywhere.
Everywhere i look i just cant seem to find 6.04 for ubuntu!! I have a cd to burn it to, but i can't find the .iso file download! Can someone help?Winni, your file is about 7MB too big for my cd. i need this file as a 699MB file or less, as my cd is only 700MB
Extraordinarily, Apple designed the keyboard layout for laptops so that the function key (fn) is on the opposite side of the keyboard to the cursor keys. So if you want to use Home, End, PageUp, or PageDown, as most of us do, then you have to use two hands as the fn key - far left - is too far from the cursor keys - far right.
Is there a way to remap the keyboard to swap the Enter and fn keys around? I rarely use Enter, but use fn a lot as described above. While on this subject, can I remap to get a forward delete, which I used more than backspace on a full size keyboard?
Info: PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), G4, 1.67GHz, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD
I have had OSX 10.5 installed on one of my hard drives for quite some time and use it occasionally. Yesterday I installed the update to 10.5.8 and it will not boot anymore. The updater reported a successful installation, but when trying to boot from 10.5.8, the little lines in the startup circle keep going around for up to a half hour without end. Unfortunately, I cannot find my original 10.5 upgrade disk, though I still have the packaging and documentation that came with it.
Anyone out there install Leopard on a Powerbook Titanium? Results... good, bad, ugly? I have a Powerbook 'Ti' 1GHZ with 1gig, i imagine it'll choke on any of the niffty core animations. what say you?
I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on upgrading my old Powerbook G4. I don't have a lot of money to purchase a new MacBook Pro yet so I wanted to max out the current model I have now.
The Specs:
15" Aluminum 1.25 GHz G4 768 MB RAM 150 GB HDD
The things I want to upgrade is RAM and the HDD. Is it possible to go further than 2GB for RAM and 250GB for HDD?
I want to be able to run Leopard on it and even the latest edition of Adobe CS. Hopefully Adobe CS4 when it comes out.
Hey all. I have an odd question for you guys. My friend's PowerBook G4 crashed hard yesterday and she had to reinstall OS X (she lost all her stuff). She has 10.3, but she is having a hard time finding apps that will run under it. I did some research for her and found that her system should be able to run 10.5, which would make life a lot easier for her as just about all apps run under 10.5. The one problem with this is I am not sure if her system can handle it.
Here are the specs she gave me: PowerBook G4 1GHz 512MB RAM
Does anyone know if this is enough to run Leopard well?? ATM she just need something that will get online, download torrents, and play DVDs. She is a musician and she has composition software that ran under 10.3. Not sure if it will run under 10.4, but ATM she just wants the system back to "useable" condition. If she can't run 10.5, she should be able to upgrade to 10.4 right? She will have more trouble finding apps that are compatible, but at least it will run better then 10.3 does.
I am leaving for a week long trip and many parts of it will not be able to run the computer off of the powercord, which is a problem because I get about 40mins of wordprocessing use out of it when I run the battery alone. Can someone explain what the significance of these levels are for my Powerbook G4 15'' (Alm) 1.25GHz, namely the cycle count and full charge/remaining capacity?
When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw
Is anyone else having this problem? i go to download a program or file and it just takes me to a blank page. I can download fine with any other browser, i.e. Firefox, Camino, Shiira.
I need to download and update my laptop. I need the Leopard. I can't figure out how to do it. I don't need the Snow Leopard, I need just the plain Leopard, 10.5.

i have an ancient macbook, which hasn't been updated since 2007. The current OS is 10.4.11 with 512MB of RAM. Is there any way to upgrade it to snow leopard, which requires at least 1GB of RAM?
On my previous hard drive with an earlier Mac OS, I had found apps that allowed me to download a variety of videos in nearly all formats -- .wmv, .mpg, .flv and more. With a new hard drive and SnowLeopard, most will not download. I don't recall what I used before
How do I download the app store on my mac book? It crashed and I had to do a reset but when I went to re do everything the app store didn't download with the rest of the applications.
I want to be able to use the new imovie 11 but when I try to download it a message pops up. The message sais that i need mac os version 10.7. I don't want to spend $27 to get the new version but I still want the new imovie. What do I do?

I have a Late '08 Unibody, 2.8GHz variant. I need to do something in Boot Camp and I've set up Windows, and also downloaded and installed the nVidia 9600M GT drivers, and that's working. I'm going to have to need to download DX9.0c as well probably. Now I'll only have access to my Leopard disk again in a few days. Anyone know what are the drivers to install for the mother/logic board, the ethernet at least, and also sound card drivers?
