OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Can't Get Macbook Pro Linked To HP PPhotosmart 5510 Printer
Mar 29, 2012
I can't get my macbook pro linked (wirelss) to my HP PPhotosmart 5510 printer? When I put the CD in the drive and try to install it says I need OSX 10.5 or 10.6.
my current HW configuration is the following:iMac Intel 21" Lion (latest update)modem router Asus DSL-N10HP Photosmart 5510 all-in-one..My problem is that my Mac can not 'see' the Photosmart in wifi mode and hence can not configure it as default printing and scanning device. The iMac can 'see' the router and so does the printer. What's more, I can open the HP configuration panel by typing its IP address in Safari (and this in wifi mode).Needless to say, both OSX and the HP drivers are at thier latest update.
I have recently brought Apple MacBook pro 13 inch, iam trying to add my printer Hp laserjet 1018 ,but my macbook identified the printer but DID NOT PRINT. I did not understand why it did not print.
what I imagined was a documented 8600GT nVidia issue with my SR MBP (purchased in April 2008 without Apple Care, d-oh), turns out to be a different issue altogether. The display gets distorted and it seems as if the LCD needs a v-sync controller. I have posted a video of it here[URL]. If I move the LCD slightly the distortion will go away. But it inevitably returns after a while. It gets unusable for that period of time. Oddly enough I can go hours without this problem manifesting, and then hours when this problem doesn't go away.
My recourse has been to connect an external monitor to the MBP, and it works great that way. So I am pretty convinced that it is an LCD/Cable issue as well. The Genius seemed to believe it was an LCD issue as well, something about the cable being torn or stretched or something. He quoted an amount ~$650 to get the whole assembly changed. Here's my dilemma: this is my work machine, and I can't afford to have it gone for a few days/week. Is there anything I can try at home before handing it to Apple for repair... like try and reseat the cable... I have opened the MBP in the past to replace the HDD. Should I even bother to get it repaired, if I can't fix it myself, or should I just save the money and get a new MBP?
Have just added a wireless Canon printer to my local network. Have a shared print queue on a Mac Mini. Have modified the printer options for this printer/queue using CUPS on the Mini.Â
Identified as a shared printer. Expanded options using CUPS, these options appear in the Mini "print" panel. Can see printer over network on another Mac.Cannot see printer presets, or expanded options on this machine "print" panel.Copies presets .plist from Mini to local machine, now see presets {this is suboptimal - the OS should see the shared presets).
Cannot see epanded print options on local machine. I would expect the expanded options would be visible to
any network machine connected to this printer/queue. What am I missing?

I have tried to add my number to both iMessage and FaceTime but it will only allow an email address to be added. I checked my Apple ID and my phone number is there. I don't know why my phone number mysteriously disappeared, it had been linked since I got my MacBook.
I'm having trouble printing to a printer shared by my Mac Pro running 10.6.8 from my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 Printer sharing is turned on on my Mac pro, they are connected to the same network, the MacBook via Airport and the Mac Pro via ethernet. I can quite happily swap files between them. When I try to add a printer on the MacBook the Canon iP4300 simply doesn't show up under the list of available printers as I think it should do.
I recently decieded to step into the adventure that is world of warcraft, and I have experienced kernel panics once every two hours or so of playing. I wonder if my ram is sliding out of place, or i should reinstall w.o.w. If it helps any, when I restart my macbook, it tells me a bunch of seemingly random coding as well as mentioning world of warcraft.
I have a network shared folder added to "Places" in Finder. I have also dragged a shortcut into the dock. The problem is that when I click the shortcut in the dock, the "stacks" doesn't pop up. Instead, it only pops up when I click a second time. After that, it works fine. It stops working after I restart the machine, so I have to click again for it to work.
So basically, it looks like when I click it the first time, it "makes a network" connection to my windows PC where the network folder is located. This looks like probable because the fact that under "Shared" in finder, the PC isn't listed UNTIL I click the mounted network folder in the "Places" in Finder.
I am now having problems playing SD movies across all my applications, they look pixillated. I never had this problem until I updated to 10.6.4. I didn't update iTunes and was/am afraid to do any more updates.
I've just followed the "archive and install" procedure from my OS X Discs ( had a problem with the run preflight script that won't let me install a Midi driver) and have a "previous systems" folder with 14 Gb of space: can I safe delete this folder or files on it are recalled / referenced from the new OS install?
I'm a PC user and have one laptop right now but am expecting to get more. I've just bought an airport extreme so that I can have a networked printer and a shared hard drive. The printer is working fine, and my HDD (Seagate FreeAgent) is showing up in Airport Utility/Disks but I can't see it anywhere in Windows Explorer, or in Airport Base Station Agent. I'm not sure what to enter the Workgroup and WINS Server fields on Airport Utility so perhaps this is part of the problem? I've never set up a workgroup because i've only got the one PC here so far. Otherwise i'm at a loss as to what to do. If I can't use the external HDD then the airport extreme is useless to me. I'm running XP on an HP laptop
I have my iMac 21.5" linked up to a projector and for some reason when linked through HDMI the projector resorts to its native aspect ratio of 4:3 and the option to change it to 16:9 is no longer available.
OK, so my projector is a bit basic and bit of a pain, but i thought it wouldn't matter as i could change the aspect ratio in VLC.
Well not really. Firstly it works for series such as The Office, by changing the ratio from 'default' to '16:9' which shows the picture on the 4:3 projector as it was meant to be, with no stretching, but when it comes to most movies (Matrix bluray for example) there is no way to stop the image from looking a little stretched on the vertical axis. I need a player which will let me manually input the ratio i want to watch the movie in, because if the source is 16:9, it looks stretched on the 4:3 projector, so i need to change it to something like 16:8 or 16:7.
Apparently you could do this with Quicktime Pro, you can stretch the image to any ratio you want, but the geniuses at Apple decided that if you bought a new iMac you had to have Quicktime X, which is s*@t, and apparently doesn't have that option.
I have a massive iTunes library. I also know that I have used many iTunes store accounts, is there a way to see what accounts my iMac is authorized to play?
I do not have access to some of them any more and I want to reset the password and update each one to a newer email and write everything down somewhere.
I don't like that conversations are linked together in mail. It always scares me that I sent something to someone who it wasn't intended for. Sometimes the conversations are relevant but most of the time one email has absolutely nothing to do with another email so I don't see why they are linked together. I have looked all through the mail preferences but I don't see any options to change it. Â

I would like to know if my MacBook Pro connected to WiFi has a specific I.D. or IP address linked to my Computer that Google can read when i open an account ( adwords account ) ?Is there any way Google can tell that the same Computer hasopened several accounts with the same machine ?
Been using my imac lately and I've noticed a drop in wi-fi signal. I checked iStat and it said that the airport card's temp was 62?CIs the high temperature linked to the loss in signal?
Recently, as in the past several days, my Safari has stopped playing linked videos in email people send me. They play on my wife's iMac but not on my MacBook Air. I don't think I've changed any preferences or settings.
In the user profile there is a specified "linked" image. In my case it is the image that was created when my user ID was first established. I'd love to change it to a better image because evidently it gets linked with my messages etc. I'm running Yosemite (OS 10.10.1) on a relatively new iMac
When I purchased my 2 Macs they were set up with my Apple ID. Somehow when I upgraded to Lion, which I did right after it came out, it change my contact information to show my wifes. What I mean is when I check Preferences > Users & Groups my Admin users ID shows my Apple ID but the address book card is linked to my wife's information. Of course whenever I try to complete a form on a site, it uses her information to auto-fill. We both have iPhones and iCloud accounts.I've had both these computers since OS X 10.4 or 5. They have always been correct till this upgrade.

I had a question regarding downloads with emails. Every time I download a file and specify "Save Linked Download As" it will never pull the download name. Instead it will say "Mail" instead of the actual file name. I don't have this problem when I download it to my download folder. This happens with every email service I have tried.
