Lately as soon as my Mac gets a little bit warm, these start showing up. I've tried the PRAM and SMC resets, repaired permissions, all the general usual fixes.
1st Gen. MacBook Air, 1.6, 80gb HD, Snow Leopard, fully up to date.
my question is...is there a program that i can obtain to keep my macbook and imac the same? sorta like norton ghost i guess?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWellll... after finally getting a decent color profile (man, the default one is terrible) I have a problem I can't solve; any sort of movement gives a kind of magenta-colored ghost. Most obvious on web pages using inertial scrolling.
My 5,1 15" MBP doesn't do this. In fact, by comparison the 5,1's display really is very good.
Anyone else have this? (I'd have merged this with the Red Tint post but it seems another issue).
Mac Mini G4 1.42Ghz. Display is fuzzy and ghosting. Have changed monitor - no improvement. Also monitor lead and VGA adapter.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the weekend I had to leave my Mac on for our Tech support team to fix something remotely.
It seems they set the monitor to not go to sleep and I came back on Tuesday (we were snowed out on Monday) to a monitor that had been on for 3 days solidly.
I have a picture on my desktop that I took in Iceland and now I also have a burned in outline of the icebergs across the bottom third of my screen.
It's most noticeable across darker backgrounds and is a total pain because I'm working with graphics and page layout and have a ribbon of discolouration running through everything.
Is there a way to get rid of this? other than leaving a complex screen saver running overnight?
i wrote a thread last week about some pixel issues. i've now figured out the cause of the faint pixel lines that have mysteriously begun to appear on the far left part of my screen. the pixel lines appear where i have had application windows up for an extended amount of time. saturday i had safari open for only an hour or two and a line developed on the left edge of the window, which remained there for several hours afterwards. i've also noticed lines develop on the bottom of the window as well. the pixel lines stay burned in for a couple hours and then slowly fade to normal. this makes my claim a little more tricky i think.
i've tried switching from a dark desktop background to a lighter grey, but the ghost lines still manage to show up if the computer gets used for more than just a brief period of time.
it's annoying and will probably only get worse, so i think it's time to head up to the apple store. what are my chances of them repairing/replacing my iMac? (it's less than a year old and therefore under warranty.)
Okay, well I bought this display off of craigslist and when I have a webpage up for 10 seconds or more and minimize the screen, I can see like a faded ghost image of the screen for about a minute or so I guess, maybe a little longer.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this with having to change the LCD screen?
I'm suddenly getting a ghosting effect on my Macbook's screen and text in documents and windows is sometimes barely readable. Strangely the machine starts up with a perfect image for a short time, then changes, so I suspect software rather than hardware. I've tried playing with settings in system preferences as well as repairing permissions. Should I perhaps try a PMU reset?

I have previously used the GRAB utility to take a snapshot of an open Safari windiw, and the snapshot included the entire windiw contents. When I opened the snapshot in Preview, I could scroll up and down and view the entire contents of the original Safari windiw. Then, I tried it again a few hours later on a different Safari window, but I then got only the part of the windiw that was visible in the browser at the time that I GRABbed the window (i.e., when I took the snapshot).What do I need to do to get the entire windiw?

Why is hiding a window / app not a 1-click window control? Perhaps with Option+Click as Hide All Others.Window controls exist to streamline common tasks; hiding is a very common task in OS X.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've found that clicking on the green '+' button in the upper left hand corner of a window does not appear to have the same effect as on a PC. On the PC, doing so causes that window to go to full screen. On the Mac, it appears to only increase the window to some size larger than the current size, but does not go 'full screen'.

Is there any way to get it to open in a tab in the same window? There was a setting for that in IE, but I can't find it on my new iMac.

My iTunes library is on an external drive, and I borrowed a macbook pro for this trip. The last time I opened iTunes was on my 24" iMac, so the window was pretty big. Now that I opened it on the macbook, with a 15" screen, the bottom is just not on the screen and I have no way to read the corner to scale it down. It stays like this even if I quit and restart.
View 4 Replies View Relateddid the way that you switch through open windows change in SL? usually I hit ` to switch through windows and  shift ` to go backwards through the list. Now it seems though the window order isn't being followed correctly. Lets say i have 5 open windows starting at 1 hitting ` takes me to window 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 then 1. typing  shift ` would take me to 5 then 4 then 3 then 2 then back to 1. Now though, under SL it seems not to follow that very simple design rather if I start at one and page through to say 3 then start again it jumps back to 1 then to 2 then to 3 and then finally to 4. View 6 Replies View RelatedI managed to make a window slightly bigger than the screen, and now I can't access the 'handle' in the lower right corner to return the window to normal size.
I was using screen sharing from another computer and some strange things were happening, and I ended up with my iTunes window a little bigger than the displayable area on the screen. If I move the window up as high as possible (so that it's up against the menu bar), the bottom edge is just hanging off the bottom of the screen, just far enough that I can't grab the resizing handle.
When I click to download something it opens the window and shows progress. The second the download is complete the window clears out so I can't click on the what was just downloaded.
I'm forced to go to the finder window, downloads, search by date then find the download.
Where is the option to change this so I can just click on the list in the progress window?
I know I should know how to do this and probably have done it in the past; however, I can't recall how. I want to duplicate an open window, not just a new one.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOne thing I miss from Windows is the ability to glance at the task bar on the bottom and read truncated title descriptors on the task bar buttons of each open window. It's a way of knowing and locating what (and where) each window is by just looking, without having to do anything -- like mouse over an icon, or clicking, or using Expose.
Is there anything I can do to make all open windows have titles or descriptors -- whether it's a file name, or Safari window name, etc. -- in Mac OS? Is there any third party utility app?
I find Snow Leopard to be more application centric, rather than window centric.
well i use a second monitor at work. I drag zbrush over the second monitor. yesterday i left in a hurry and just unplugged the second monitor. when i got home and wanted to work some more, but my Zbrush app window is caught between spaces. it's virtually off-screen.
I can see it come by when i switch from space 1 to space 2.
anyway of getting it back in my screen window?
I was playing with the maximize button on a Finder window a few days ago and toggling it would yield a different size every time (guess I was amused by that). So it go into a state where the resize corner is out of reach always now. Clicking on the maximize button does not change the size at all and just remains there. I want to be able to resize Finder again. How do I do it? For reference, attached is the screenshot of my desktop with Finder window, so you can see what I mean. I am unable to find a way to get it to a stage where the full window can be shown and I can resize it.
View 14 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, glad I made the switch to Mac. I only wish that I would have started off on one. It's so much easier that I tend to make things difficult while still shaking a PC-mindset.
Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut that allows a window to be restored to its original size once it's minimized or hidden? I would like to use the command+tab to switch to the application, then restore the window with the keyboard. For example, when using mail, I will minimize the window and use Safari. When I cycle back to mail (command+tab) I have activated the program again, but I have to click on Window>Message Viewer to see my mailbox again.
On my 2008 MacPro, I have two 8800GT's working fine in all regards to normal Desktop Usage. But in World of Warcraft, when I move the WoW window onto either screen on card 2, the frame rate drops to less than 10fps. If I move it back to either screen on card one, its fast again. This may be a localized issue with WoW.

Is there an app like this for OS X? I'm really looking for something I can evoke with a keyboard shortcut like spaces that simply moves the selected window to the same position on the adjacent screen so i don't have to constantly leave the keyboard to move windows around.
I can't seem to deactivate the automatic login that occurs upon opening my MacBook. It worked fine on my previous OS X installation, but now the login window will not appear. I've tried adjusting differing Login Options settings and restarting.

Yes, I'm well aware of Command-click, right-click, etc. Those are not a good solution. It's the surprise new windows that bother me.
I'd like these surprise links to open as tabs rather than windows. However, I'd also like specifically-sized Javascript pop-up windows to open the way they were designed to: As pop-up windows.
I've used Saft in the past. It does a nice job with the first half of the problem, but does not accommodate the specifically-sized Javascript pop-up windows.

When I install a new program I get a window that pops up asking me for my password. I don't have a Master Password for my computer, I left it blank intentionally so all I have to do is click on OK and the program installs. Likewise, sometimes when I delete some items on my computer this same window pops up.How can I disable this most annoying Password Window?
