Applications :: Settings For Hear - Configure To Get Most Out Of MAcbook Speakers?
Apr 18, 2008
I downloaded the application Hear a couple days ago [URL:...] and I've been messing with the settings ever since, since all of the built in presets make everything sound worse. Does anyone know a good way to configure it to get the most out of an older MacBook's speakers? I have what i think sounds pretty good, but it could be better I think.
I was using the line-in port of my computer for recording audio, at the same time i was hearing what i was recording through my headphones, when suddenly i wasn't able to hear anything from both headphones and my internal speakers.
just got a macbook pro and wanted to configure my hotmail accounts to be read in mail 4.2 in such a way any change I did in the webmail could be seen in mail and viceversa. When configuring it automatically (letting mail figure out all my account details) that didnt happen; I was told that I need to set the account type to Imap for this sync to happen.
When I configure a new account in Mail 4.2 the account type (pop) appears automatically, and theres no chance I can change it, not even afterwards when going to the account menu.
after installing an update I am no longer able to hear sound out of my speakers. A red light comes on where the headphone jack is. I have already attempted to trip to switch with a wooden toothpick in the headphone jack but have not had luck.
I plugged in a Shure AXS1 microphone into the analog stereo line-level input. In the system prefs I set the Input to Line in.The midi panel to built in line input. When recording in Audition the sound level is really low and coming out only on the right channel (speaker). Why is it coming out on one channel?I can deal with a low level sound recording but coming out only on one channel on playback has stumped me. I've been playing with all the settings but no luck.Second. When recording is it normal not being able to hear yourself playfrom the speakers?
I am trying to connect through iTunes with my Airport Express. No matter how I configure (and the green light is on) no sound comes from the speakers from iTunes even though the song is playing. I can, however, connect through my Airfoil app which leads me to think that the problem is in the Itunes app itself.
i beilieve it has to do with the port forwarding of my router (correct me if i am wrong). i can get into where to configure the setting of the router, but idk what exactly to do. i have a time warner cable supplied router, its an ambit DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant.
I have tried plugging in headphones, and when i take them out, no red light appears like others say. Also, in the sound settings, there is no built in speakers to click on. All of this happened after I deleted a program off my computer, and restarted it. Once I restarted the computer, it stayed on the startup screen so i did the safe start (hold shift while you press the power button).
Adding 10 IMACS with OS 10.7 to my active directory domain. I would like for all users to have the same basic user settings at log in. how I can configure the MAC clients.
I used Migration Assistant to transfer apps and files from iBook G4, 10.4.11 to MacBook 10.6.2. The apps transferred and work great, except for iPhoto. I am still working on that one. The photos are in the MacBook, but I think I need to drag them into iPhoto. (?) The bigger concern is that once I found my transferred files in Users, I could not open any of the files without using my password - every time, every file. Further, even after opening the files, I cannot trash any of them without, again, using my password. Is there any way to get around this?
I tried not to use a different password when setting up the transfer, but Migration Assistant would not allow me to use the same one.
Regardless of the settings, I can only get my Mini to play through its internal speaker. For the past several months I've had it hooked up to a PeachTreee Decco2 through the optical port, and it worked fine.Â
Today I tried to play some music, and found that the Mini wasn't recognizing the optical port anymore. So after a couple of hours of futzing around with it (including updating Lion and repairing permissions) it still no longer recognizes the optical output.Â
I know that nobody has made any changes to the Mini, because it isn't attached to any input devices. I control it over my wireless network using the Apple Screen Sharing app.Â
I got a 13" Unibody MBP, lower-end model, in July. Since then I've noticed various issues.
First of all, I have the common beachball problem. There's no click/beep sound associated with it like some have, and I've noticed clearing out my cache and occasional restarts have helped that. But in general things seem to be much slower than when I first got it... But of course I have many more programs installed, but very few are actually running.
I remember it being nearly completely silent when I first got it. Now I can hear noises when it loads web pages, applications, etc. that reminds me of the noise you'd head from an old desktop. Was I just imagining that it was silent before? The fans seem to run more often, as well.
Also, my audio jack is more and more often not detecting when something is plugged in to it. Usually putting it in to sleep and waking it back up helps.
Anyway, all of these together make me wonder if I should be paying a visit to the Apple store, and if so, what should I ask?
I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes.  The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.Â
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility.   You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.
Situation: no sound out from speakers in admin and user account and newly created account. Headphones work, startup chimes work on speakers.
Go to Sound in Preferences and only shows Digital Out for output. Should show Internal Speakers. Ran Diskwarrior and Applejack and zapped pram. Took mac apart and confirmed speakers wired correctly which is verified by the start up chimes being audible on the internal speakers. tested all accounts and created new account all with the same results. Did search of Google and MacRumor. Found one unaswered post indicating same problem. Had same problem with another macbook pro, ran same steps, take apart, confirm wiring setup, Diskwarriored, applejacked and zapped pram and it fixed the problem. I'm not sure what else to try. Did check Audio Midi Setup util and it also did not see the internal speakers.
Is it possible to configure Mail.app to mark messages that have been read to be marked as read also on the Gmail server? I hate having 13 new messages in my mail.app, reading them all, and then being on my iphone and having to click on them all or delete them to apply them as read. Opening the messages on the IPhone's mail.app marks the messages as read on the gmail server also. Marking the messages as read using Gmail's native email site, the messages are also marked as read on the iphone mail.app. Why doesn't the native mail.app in OS X do this?
Can anyone tell me how to correctly configure Apple Mail (Leopard) with Gmail IMAP so that you dont have to keep a duplicate of all emails from the All Mail folder on my local drive? Basically, when Mail syncs, it downloads all messages, then it downloads them again because they reside in the All Mail folder in Gmails web interface. Any suggestions would be appreciated as this takes up twice the amount of space that it should.
i can hear music thru my macboook bro but everytime i plugged in a head phone or other external devices i cant hear anything i have tried few more headphones so still not working its definitely not the headphones?
First, When I connect the headphone some times I can not hear anything ,However , If I hear the sound I can not understand .It spoils everything.
Second, the brightness of my screen could not be fixed sometimes are too light and sometimes are too dark with out I change it just automatically change.Â
I hear the various sounds involved with Messages in Lion 10.7.3, when sending a msg, receiving, contacts becoming available etc. I am not hearing *any* other audio at all: No sound from Chrome with: Facebook videos, Youtube, Soundcloud or Vimeo. No sound from any media in Safari. No sound from any media in iTunes. No sound when playing files with Quicktime. No sound when increasing/decreasing system volume.I can only hear Messages sounds! Everything was working fine last night, the last thing I was able to hear was an .m4a file that I played through Quicktime. This morning - nothing. Where should I start troubleshooting? I've already restarted a couple of times, will do a full shutdown and restart again.
When i plg my headphones into my mackbook pro the sound is almost impossible to hear through them. The sound is normally really loud! i have tried with several pairs of headphones and the volume remains the same!
