OS X :: Switch Off One Screen In Dual Screen Mode
Mar 29, 2010I want to use my i7 as MediaPlayer. So I've connected to iMac video out a Plasma TV. There a way tp switch off only the iMac monitor when I'm wathing some video on my TV?

Applications :: IPhoto 11 Has No Full Screen And No Dual Screen?
Oct 21, 2010Installed without problems on a 3 y.o. 15MBP and a new iMac. See no performance issues so far, but I HATE the fact that the FULL SCREEN photo viewing is no longer there! I just hate it, that there is absolutely no way to view pictures full screen. period. (this was THE MOST important feature of iPhoto.) As such, zooming in full screen is NOT available anymore either, instead of floating windows with adjustments, etc., zoom, effects, you get stupid permanent bars that you can't even move anywhere. Also, gone is ability to quick launch a full screen slideshow. You are now asked to select photos for a slideshow first, and then create that slideshow. In Classic you will get an ability to view these full screen, thats the only way. The stupid music that accompanies classic is ... well, stupid. I just wish the Apple store in Bethesda MD had it installed so I could see how horrible it is, before giving them $79 for a Family Pack! My money now goes to Adobe for LR3, a much, much better suite! Forgot to mention, this version is NOT 64 bit, and it does not recognize dual-screen mode either, something that Adobe implemented years ago. Shame on APple for dummifying a simple photo viewer to the iPhone level.

Sep 16, 2009So I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.

Jun 2, 2012When my MacBook Pro 13" i5 goes into screen saver mode, which is black, it won't return to normal mode. Tried all keys, trac pad, closing the lip and re-opening it, and it won't respond. The only thing that works is holding down power button for hard shutdown, then restarting it. It has happened 8 times in the last 2 weeks.

Apr 24, 2009I know apple says you need two GT 120's for a dual screen, but couldn't you have a MDP for the first screen, then get a DVI to MDP adapter for the second screen? or would OSX not recognize it?

Oct 13, 2008My old work PC had an application running which added a small < button to the menu bar next to the restore, min and max buttons which, when clicked would move that window to the adjacent screen.
Is there an app like this for OS X? I'm really looking for something I can evoke with a keyboard shortcut like spaces that simply moves the selected window to the same position on the adjacent screen so i don't have to constantly leave the keyboard to move windows around.
OS X :: Switch Screen From One Computer To The Next Without Unplugging?
Jan 22, 2010I have two laptops. One mac and one pc. I also have one external screen. Is there anyway I could switch my screen from one computer to the other without unplugging the VGA cable every time?
Is there some sort of splitter I can plug into both laptops and just press a button for the screen to go from one computer to the other?
Is there anything that can do that?
Mac Mini :: Won't Boot And Has Picture Of Switch On Screen
Sep 8, 2010I just bought a Mac Mini and all technical help is closed right now. I am very frustrated as the one I bought yesterday had no display output. The system starts and gets to a screen that has what looks to be a switch that needs to be changed. I have looked at the entire box and can not see a switch that needs to be changed. I have taken a picture and have put it on here. I have googled it and can not find anything. My mouse and keyboard are both new wireless so I have nothing I can even use there. I am enclosing a picture of the screen. I also only have power and monitor plugged in.

MacBook Air :: Takes Almost 10 Minutes From Switch On To The Log On Screen
Mar 29, 2012My 3-weeks old Macbook Air is taking almost 10 minutes to get from switch on to the log on screen, it seems to be stuck at the white screen with the Apple logo & the spinning grey wheel. Anybody faced similar problems before? What caused this? I was working with about 7 or 8 different Excel files open at one go and a couple were corrupted (but repaired). I have never experienced anything like this with my i5 iMac and wasn't expecting this on the Macbook Air. Any light at the end of the tunnel?

Jun 3, 2009Well after the initial update, i had some problems starting the system up and getting it to load properly, it took a couple tries, but since that was resolved, it hasn't done that again.
As of late though I've experienced 4 or 5 total system lock ups. Just today (5minutes ago) I was on safari and when i used expose to switch to msn it woudl not let me select anything and just stayed on the expose screen. I had to hold down my power button to resart, as even when i tried to do it from the button, it would not let me select anything. Also, after finally restarting the system, it now says that I have no bluetooth module connected to my computer. I never had any of these problems before the update. The system is also running noticeably hotter than before. I have not installed any programs or anything lately and Im pretty sure that my other software is not the problem, Im positive that its OSX that is doing this.

Aug 16, 2010Hoping someone can help - my imac (approx 15-18 months old , intel) won't start.
Last night on shutting down DPP (canon Digital image software) was hanging and system asked me if I wanted to force quit it...sadly I had switched off my bluetooth mouse and , as usually once mouse turned off switching it back on it never re connects - why did I buy the bletooth mouse and keyboard ?, so I could not confirm yes force quit - is there no way of selecting with keyboard like there is in windows ?
So I switched off at power switch. Tried to re switch on - grey screen came up, apple logo, the little timer circle but after a while timer circle stopped and nothing further happened.
have tried several more times and now don't even get timer.

Mar 17, 2009I have a MacBook Pro. I see that the new iMacs have a mini displayport input so that the 27" screen can be used with my MacBook Pro. I'm wondering how this works? Since there is obviously no button to push, how exactly do you switch between the iMac and the MacBook Pro displaying on-screen?

Mac Mini :: HDMI Switch - Screen Sharing Disabled (No Audio / Video)
Jan 31, 2012I have an "early 2009" mini. I hooked it up to my HD TV through a Sony amp that acts as an HDMI switch. It works great until I switch to a different component (e.g. satellite receiver). When I switch back to the mini there is no video or audio. Screen sharing is also disabled: I can't access the mini from another Mac. Oddly, I can use the iphone Remote app to operate iTunes and send output through AirPlay. I could also access its shared files through the network. I've tried hdmireviver. It works for a while, but when the mini is not selected by the HDMI switch for more than 15 minutes or so, it fails. Do later models of the mini work more congenially with an HDMI switch?

MacBook Pro :: 15 Inch Can't Switch Off (freeze At Blue Screen With Spinning Wheel)?
Feb 12, 2012Whenever i try to "shut down" my MBP, it will freeze at the blue screen with the spinning wheel (that keeps spinning like 'eternally')! Any idea how to solve the problem? I tried booting from the installation disk and repairing disk with "disk utility" but to no avail. Have also tried repairing disk permissions... Any idea how else should i tackle this problem?  Currently i can only switch off my MBP by holding the power button (forcing it to shut down).

Jul 6, 2008My MBP was updated from 10.5.2 to 10.5.4 (combined update) this morning and, after the installation finished, it rebooted into a blue screen. I restarted it several times and always went into blue screen.
Now, the interesting part is that this is not the "blue screen after install" problem others are experiencing. If I disconnect the external monitor during restart and wait for OS X to start everything works fine. After OS X starts properly I can even reconnect the external monitor and it works fine. In fact I am writing this post from my MBP using the external monitor right now.
Since some document on the Apple Support website was suggesting to remove the file ApplicationEnhancer.bundle in System/Library/SystemConfiguration when experiencing blue screens after the install of 10.5.4, I did look in that folder for that file but it's not there...

Daily I use my MBP with a cinema display and like to use the 23" screen as my main display (dock, menu bar etc) and the laptop as the secondary screen. This is fine until I want to use the MBP on its own because the desktop icons rearrage themselves.Â
