Mac Pro :: OSX 10.7.5 / Can't Get Option To Switch Screen Resolution To 1920 X 1200

Jun 3, 2014

I'm using a temporary monitor while my trusty old Mac HD Cinema Display is in the shop getting fixed.

As a stopgap I am using a Samsung T190.

My computer is a Mac Pro tower. I'm running 10.7.5 (Lion) as I'm still working with Final Cut Pro 7.

I can't get an option to switch the screen resolution to 1920 x 1200

I can go no higher than 1440 x 900.

In my quest for a solution I read something about the option key and the "scaled radio button" in the display preferences.

I don't see a "scaled radio button" in the preferences.

Here's what the Display Preferences look like:

Intel Mac :: Change Display Beyond The 1920 X 1200 Limit?

Apr 16, 2012

I am running on an iMac, 3.06 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, and it has a display max of 1920 x 1200. I was wondering if there are any workarounds for this? Any apps, or scripts that are safe and will allow me to use a bigger resolution? I am not a tech wiz, but I would love to hear anything you may know of that I can try...

Hardware :: 1920 X 1200 24" Monitor Vs. 1680 X 1050 22" Monitor?

Feb 25, 2009

Debating between two monitors to use as an external with my MBP. HP LP2475w & Dell 2209WA.

HP is a 24" H-IPS panel with 1920 x 1200 max resolution. Dell is a 22" e-IPS panel with 1680 x 1050 max resolution. The Dell is half the price of the HP.

My concern is the lower resolution on the Dell. What difference is there with the lower resolution of the Dell vs the HP monitor? Keeping in mind of course that the Dell is also 2" smaller than the HP. I'd be using the monitor for extended web surfing, writing for long periods in m.word, and video editing.

IMac :: No Option To Detect External Display / Screen Resolution

Aug 6, 2010

I have a 27" imac and have been using an apple led cinema display with it. I have had no problems with the display until today. Yesterday I installed windows 7 via bootcamp and had some trouble with the second display being detected but after downloading all of the bootcamp updates it worked fine. Today I restart my computer back into OSX and the display does not work. I tried resetting the PRam or whatever but that didnt do anything. When I go to system preferences > display there is no longer an option to detect display and there are no longer options to change the screen resolution.

I spoke with an apple tech who has me installing an update but I dont think she really knew what was going on and I doubt this will work. When I reboot back into the windows partition the display works during start up and I see the windows logo. So I dont think its a hardware issue (also the display still works fine with my macbook pro). But as soon as startup finishes I get a black screen. Under the control panel windows still recognizes that there is a 2nd display attached and you can still drag items over to the other screen, I just cant see anything. All black.

OS X :: Changing Switch Between Spaces - Shortcut Key To Option Tab?

Oct 28, 2010

I've been searching in vain around the internet for a few days now for a way to change the hotkey for switching between spaces (by default, option-arrow keys, though I have changed it to command-option-arrow keys) to option-tab and shift-option-tab. To be more specific, I'd like option-tab to switch to the space to the right, and shift-option-tab to switch to the space to the left. I have downloaded BetterTouchTool (http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1722), and it can assign any shortcut key to the simple option of bringing up the spaces interface itself, but I can't find a way to assign a different shortcut key to actually switching spaces. Interestingly, using that app, I was able to assign a five finger swipe (which blew my mind, by the way) in the corresponding direction for which space I wanted to switch to by assigning the gesture to the shortcut key for switching spaces (so, five finger swipe to the right is assigned to command-option-right arrow).

MacBook Pro :: External Monitor Resolution - Not Listed As Option

Jul 24, 2009

So I've had a 15" Unibody MBP since around November and I haven't been able to get it to work with my Hanns G 19" widescreen monitor. It should work at a 1440x900 resolution but its not even listed as an option when I hook it up. The monitor has both VGA and DVI inputs but I'm using the mini to VGA adapter (I picked up VGA to connect to a projector at school). I don't know if using the DVI adapter would do the trick or not and I'm not willing to waste $30 to find out as I'm a pretty poor college student at the moment.

MacBook :: Resolution On External Display - Option For Adjusting Sharpness?

Jan 11, 2011

I have an Acer 22" display (the x223w) that I have been using with my old powermac g4 for a few years and its been great. I recently got an Aluminum macbook and wanted to use the display with it at my desk. I got a cheap mini display-port to DVI adaptor from amazon and when I plug it in, the display looks a bit fuzzy! It is set to the same resolution as when it was hooked up to the powermac, but everything looks a bit bigger (doesn't this mean the resolution is lower?) and the text especially looks a little fuzzy. Is it the cheap adaptor? I have it set to 1680X1050 on both computers. I feel like I just want to adjust the sharpness, but the display doesn't have that option. Also, it seems weird since it looks fine with the powermac.

PowerPC :: Screen Resolution And Color Calibration / Grey Flickering Screen On Internal Monitor

Dec 5, 2007

Thing is I got hold of a 1ghz 17" iMac almost for free, it had a dead logicboard (I checked it with a voltage-meter), but I figured I could fix it and have a small hobby project-thingie going on. Well I just got a new logic board today, for a 1ghz 17" iMac g4.

Things is I only get a bright grey screen from my Mac when I boot. I've tried connecting it to a external display and that works fine. Everything is there.

I then reinstalled Tiger on it, with the computer connected to my external screen. And I still have the same problem. (I have now disconnected the ext. screen and is controlling the iMac from my MBP). So at least it isn't the installation.

So what is the problem? I can via an Apple Keyboard control the brightness on the blank screen, which would indicate that it does react to input of some degree.

I've read that if the inverter is dead or anything else is dead, you would get a rolling grey screen, flicker or something like that and not a steady bright grey. One thing I'm thinking is. What if somehow this logic board was for a 15" 1ghz imac g4? Can I check this?

I read that long thread about guys buying hi-res displays for their MBPs, and they had to replace some display profile? Could I maybe fix it with a different display profile-file?

I'm really confused by all this, and would appreciate any help I can get.

Model: PowerMac6,1
CPU-Type: PowerPC G4 (3.3)

and

the gfx chip is a GeforceMX4 with 32mb.

The display is a mode 9c27, manufacturer 610, serialnumber 00000, manufacture date: B84D7200.

MacBook Pro :: 1920 Same As 1680?

They did not have one in but they did have the 17" high res in.

I know the 17" high res has a slighly higher dpi but does the text size look the same as the 15" high res (more or less)?

OS X :: External Monitor Blank When Set To 1920?

Feb 28, 2010

I have a new LG W2343 monitor capable of displaying 1920 x 1080 connected to my White Macbook early 2009. I have the external set to mirror and have made the laptop display go to sleep by closing the lid and then waking all else up by using the external mouse.

So at the moment the laptop monitor is blank and the external monitor is displaying 1280 x 1024. When I now try to switch the external to 1920 the external screen goes blank too. I then have a blank laptop and blank external meaning I have to force shutdown by powering down.

Why can't I switch the external to 1920?

Any advice gratefully received as I am tearing out what little hair I have left.

Thus, allowing much better "comfort reading" on their default 1600x900 scren resoutions. Within one location, we simply change its "global level" font sizes and menu sizes, and still have clear screen images.
