Jul 2, 2009my mac keeps crashing and freezing and i was wondering why it does it constantly and its becoming really annoying here at 2 crash reports or panic log im new to mac >.<

Sep 26, 2009I've been getting loads of "Application quit unexpectedly, please send to Apple" reports.Is there somewhere on my Mac where all these are stored? I want to see exactly how many times since installing SL I've had app crashes.

Jan 14, 2011I ran SuperDuper last night and the backup failed with an unknown error. After, Spotlight didn't find files. I rebooted and at the login screen was given the error message 'backup disc full, delete some files' - problem is, OS X won't boot beyond the starfield screen, so there's no way of deleting files or running the system. I took the drive out and put it in a USB caddy on another machine and ran Disk Utility - it said repairs were needed, so I did this. However, putting it back into the MBP nothing has changed, it still won't boot and insists the disc is full - there is over 180GB free! (I can see this when I mount it on another machine.)

Sep 8, 2009Right, so i got my 13" MBP yesterday and downloaded Fan Control, when i opened it, it showed me that only the left fan was spinning and that the right fan was spinning at -1RPM (i'm taking that as meaning that its not spinning rather that its spinning backwards). Upon seeing this, i ran the Apple Hardware Test that comes on the OS install disks, i ran the short test and nothing was found, so i ran the more in depth test. Seeing that it was going to take a while i went for a shower, as i came back upstair i was greeted by the smell of burning! I realised it was coming from my Macbook Pro and did a hard shut down to try to prevent any/anymore damage. (It was also very hot). I dont want a broken laptop the day after recieving it!

Feb 6, 2010Does anyone find the iBank Charts /Reports confusing?I switched to iBank about eight months ago when I turned to Mac and abandoned Win. Now I'm trying to compile some annual reports because I list my deductions.However, when I use the iBank Chart system (no matter if I set it to monthly, quarterly or annually) the charts all come out the same (two pages) and I haven't been able to figure out how the figures are derived. For example, one chart insists on including "income" (but I don't know where the figures come from) since I'm trying to complie only "expenses."

Apr 2, 2010I am running windows through VirtualBox. I only have Quickbooks on it because I don't have a Mac version. I need to be able to print my reports in quickbooks, but it's telling me there is no printer installed in windows even though I can print outside of windows. I tried to save in the "shared documents" so I could come back and print that way, but the documents don't show up. How can I print through Windows & VirtualBox? I also can't get Windows to recognize my jump drive so I can transfer it to another computer to print either.

Apr 25, 2012iTunes on my iMac reports on my unconnected iPad 3 gen just as if it were wire connected and being synced.Is this normal and is it syncing by wireless (so why doesn't my iPad 1 or iPhone 4s do likewise?) or is iTunes on the iMac corrupted in some way and it's reporting a phantom connection based on the last time the iPad 3 actually was wire connected?If iTunes is corrupted can I overwrite with a fresh download or do I have to uninstall and re-load?

Apr 28, 2012I am trying to print reports from my school database software. I have tried 3 internet browsers, turned off all pop up blockers, and I still can't print to screen a report in a pdf. I am trying to isolate the problem. On my PC, just hold the control key and click preview to pull up the report. Is this a problem with adobe and Mac OS X.

Apr 15, 2012I have received 2 Panic Attack reports in the past 24 hours the first was obvious with the little black window message appearing in the middle of my screen the system was idle at the time with several internet window open and a exel workbook. The second occured overnight when I came to my Mac this morning the screen was black i.e. appeared to be asleep as normal I hit a key and nothing happened, I checked the machine and noted that indicator lights on a USB drive I had connected and this copnfirmed the machine was still on, I had my own panic attack! I did the reboot by turning the off switch off, and then restarted a report was displayed indicating a Panic Attack had occured i.e.Â

The report is gibberish to me I wish they would provide a clear indication in these reports to help the non tecky gain some level of understanding as to what may be the problem, that was a mini rant!Â

May 10, 2012Every time Safari or Firefox, or any other application crashes or I have to force it to quit, I get an error report and when I click to send it to Apple I get a message saying it failed and cannot send to Apple. Anyone know what's going on? I have a Macbook pro (15 inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009).Â
Oh, and my Safari is Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3). Think it's time for an update?

May 18, 2012I connect to internet at home(direct connect to internet) and office(throuth web proxy) on same macbook pro. Before update to Safari 5.1.7, AdBlock and ClickToFlash both worked fine in two place. After update to safari 5.1.7, safari always report that AdBlock and ClickToFlash is invalid when at office. But AdBlock and ClickToFlash work fine when I at home.

Aug 24, 2014My macbook pro has been acting weird for a week or so. I'll be on the internet and then it will randomly shut down safari or google chrome and send an error report message. This also just started happening with my iPhoto and iTunes as well. Sometimes my computer will just shut off completely and restart with a message saying there was a problem and it had to shut down. It seems like there is some bug or maybe a third party add on I need to get off?

Jun 24, 2014My 2011 21.5" iMac has a 1TB hard drive. In the Finder, it reports 238GB used, 744GB available. But, in Disk Utility and in DiskWave analyzer, it shows 460GB used. "About this Mac" reports 460GB used with 206GB of "backup" that is not there (not invisible files, not showing up in detail reports). When DiskWave reports 460GB used, the detailed list of files & apps only adds up to 238GB - a mystery in that it cannot show the extra "used" space, but only reports free space as 539GB thus not accounting for the remainder. How can I reconcile these differences?

Jun 20, 2014I was having problems with the external drive where I store my Time Machine backups, so I tried plugging and unplugging the drive but could not mount the drive. I ran Disk Utility and tried to verify the disk, which told me the disk needed to be repaired. I tried to repair the disk only to get an error message that Disk Utility could not repair the disk and it needed to be reformatted. So I tried to erase the disk with Disk Utility only to get the error message "Volume erase failed: Media kit reports not enough space on this device for requested operation". I am not sure what else to try at this point and could not find any similar questions here. Â
The drive in question is a 3TB USB Seagate Backup + Desk Media, formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). It's divided into two partitions, one of which (2.2 TB) holds only Time Machine backups of my desktop and laptop and the other of which (800GB) is formatted similarly with some files stored on it. I was able to verify and repair this other partition. I'm running Disk Utility 13 on an iMac (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running OSX 10.8.5Â ...
OS X :: Time Machine Reports Incorrect Volume / Unable To Repair Incorrect Allocation Blocks
Nov 8, 2009I am pulling my hair since friday trying to get my MBP's time machine work with a 1TB drive connected to a early 2009 AEBS. First I spent half a day doing the first backup by connecting the hard drive directly to Mac using USB and later when I connected that drive to AEBS, time machine would not recognize the drive as the same one and I had to spend a good part of yesterday backing up my complete drive again.... and just when I thought I can rest easy knowing that my eternal dream of getting time machine work wirelessly, I saw time machine complain that there is not enough free space left to backup my paltry 103 GB worth of data on just second day.
Turns out, the Time machine backup volume (volume created by time machine on the AEBS disk) shows that the used space is 1TB.... but the size of the sparsebundle is only 103GB and my airport drive mount itself shows plenty of free space (800GB).... I have tried to search for similar problem, but I couldn't find much help... can anyone help me out here....
Btw, when I tried to repair the volume in disk utility, it says something about incorrect allocation blocks and then says it cannot repair and I need to backup and reformat the drive or something of that sort....
OS X V10.7 Lion :: "MediaKit Reports Block Size Error" When Formatting Drive?
Jun 12, 2012I got a new 2TB hard drive, and I'm trying to format it as HFS+ journaled case sensitive encrypted, each time I try I get the following error: "MediaKit reports block size error, usually caused by not being a multiple of 512." This is a brand new drive, it has a GUID partition map with one partition, that was created by Disk Utility, and the disk passed a full hardware scan from Drive Genius. Normally when I get an error I can google it, but this particular error only gives me links to RAID problems, and I'm not doing anything with RAID. What determines the block size? I did not get an option to set it anywhere that I could see. How do I fix this error and get my drive encrypted?

Dec 22, 2009I currently own a Macbook and work on it up in my room with wireless. The family iMac is downstairs and is hardwired to the modem so we share the same network. I was wondering if there was any way to monitor what was happening on the downstairs computer from my room. Life would be nice if the keylogger can send me the reports. Also, free or purchased programs would be fine.
