OS X :: Navigate By Keyboard - Randomly Does Not Work?

I have looked in the Keyboard Preferences and all the boxes are checked for keyboard navigation. For example "Move focus to the menu bar."What other magic is needed to make this work?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Folder Navigation - How To Navigate Up The File Directory While Didn't Navigate Down
Mar 17, 2012If i search a file in finder and then i want to see what folder and go to that folder how do you do that? In windows you can click the drop down button that shows the entire directory path but there doesnt seem to be any similar function in the finder window. You can click the back button to go back up the tree if you got there by navigating down but if you went directly to the file form a search there doesnt seem to be any way to go up the path.

Mac Mini :: Localize OS Menus To Show Correct Foreign Keyboard Shortcuts?
Jul 2, 2012I just switched to Mac from Windows. I'm using a current-model Mac Mini purchased in the US along with a bilingual Apple Bluetooth Hebrew/English keyboard purchased in Israel. The bilingual functions work perfectly for text; the only problem is that the Mac seems to think that I am using an English keyboard and the OS menus give me keyboard shortcuts for an English keyboard. Since the symbols on a USA keyboard don't exactly correspond to the symbols on my foreign keyboard, the keyboard shortcuts given in the mac menu are useless.

OS X :: How To Navigate Volumes Folder - Where Is It
May 25, 2009Whenever I click 'Source' in HandBrake, it opens Volumes where I have Macintosh HD and the DVD I have inserted. But recently, there's also one of my folders! I don't know how it got there nor how to move it back to Documents. If I spotlight it, nothing comes up, so how do I navigate to the Volumes folder?!

May 20, 2012I can't navigate as i usually did. For example i open a new finder window pressind Cmd+n, and it goes to the folder i set it up to, then i try to navigate to the folders within with the arrowkeys, but i doesn't want to go rigth, then i press the down or up arrow keys and it jumps inside the selected folder, but something rare happens it creates a folder called "nombre" (i have my mac in spanish) in the top of the finder list of subfolders, when i go down in the list i've noticed the other folder items also changed their names to "nombre" and that inside each of these folders there's another with the same name, i've also noticed i can't click on the "nombre" folder to select it i can only select it whit the up or Down arrow keys, and i can't delete it beacuse of (error -8058)

MacBook Pro :: Swipe To Navigate Does Not Work
Mar 14, 2010All of a sudden the swipe to navigate does not work on my macbook pro. I looked in preferences and it is checked to be on. The only thing that I think might conflict it would be jItouch but even with that off it doesn't work. I do have a bamboo tablet hooked up as well as the apple full keyboard but these have never caused any kind of conflict b4.

May 25, 2010I sold my macbook pro 2.2ghz (still in my possession) and am trying to get my photos and stuff off of it before i restore it. I have connected it to an external monitor before with success (the computer works perfectly minus the broken screen) but for some reason i can't get it to hook up again. I know it's due to my incompetence that I can't get it to connect so some help/ tips would be appreciated.
Should I already have the monitor plugged in before i turn the computer or plug it in after it's on?Is the f7 button the button to push to switch which monitor is being used?I just can't figure it out since the screen is broken. Thanks

Dec 1, 2014Since upgrading to Mac OS X Yosemite, when I open Time Machine on a folder, I can't navigate backwards in time anymore, on any folder. The arrows are grayed out. Usually, this is because Time Machine needs a bit of time to load older backups, but I have given it a few minutes to load and it still does not work.
Strangely enough, the only time that there is no problem is when I restart my Mac. Once I restart, then I open a folder and open Time Machine, then I can navigate backwards in time, almost immediately, too. But after that, no folder that I open in Time Machine in the future will allow me to move back in time, until I restart once again, then I am able to only navigate a single folder.
Things I have already tried:
- Repair Disk Permissions on Macintosh HD
- Repair Disk on Time Machine drive.

Nov 22, 2009My Magic Mouse has suddenly stopped allowing the swipe to navigate feature despite being enabled. I can't believe that it's broken after only a couple of weeks of ownership, yet on the other hand I've never owned an expensive mouse that hasn't been trouble.
Anyway, all of the other features seem to be working and the mouse hasn't had a 'hard life' at all. Does anyone have any possible fixes for this or advice?

Dec 16, 2009I am in need of a data recovery app that can recover data off a Fat32 drive and save the recovered data to a NTFS drive (I use NTFS-3G). I have PhotoRec but can't seem to navigate to my NTFS external to save the data (the only drive big enough to save the data too is my girlfriend's 500GB external and it is NTFS).
Any tips to getting photorec to navigate to the drive (I am pulling from one external to another). Photorec sees the one I want to save too I just can't get it to select it. Also if there are any other programs yall recommend, I will give them a shot.

Sep 21, 2009When 10.5 was released they were quite transparent and the look matched the transparent menubar. It was a nice visual flow. Then 10.5.1 came out and they went to almost opaque (apparently they are still SLIGHTLY transparent but at something like 95% its more or less impossible to tell).
Some apps, (compressor comes to mind) still have these transparent menu drop-downs and I think its a very good look, especially with the transparent menubar (again, visual flow is nice).
OS X :: Cursor Moves To Yes On Pop Up Menus
Mar 21, 2010Every time a menu pops up asking me to choose yes or no, the mouse automatically moves to the yes like it's ready for me to click. I'm pretty sure I set it to do this a while ago, but I forgot how to change it back. It's late, I'm frustrated, and this is bothering me. A few searches didn't get me anywhere. Anyone know what I'm talking about and/or how to change it back?

Dec 4, 2014I am on OS Version 10.10.1 (14B25). Whenever I click on the green dot in the upper left corner of an open window, the window expands to take up the entire Desktop. Even more bothersome, the window expands to the top of the frame, covering up the Finder menus.
I need those menus. I have found by experimentation that waving the cursor around in the upper-left corner of the display can bring the Finder menus back into view. But that is only temporary. As soon as I move the cursor back to the content of the window, I lose the Finder menus again. The only way I can get the Finder menus to remain visible is to close the window that I am working in. Doing so defeats the whole purpose in clicking the green dot.
Is there some preference somewhere that I can use to turn off this annoying new feature of Yosemite?

Mac Pro :: IStat Menus CPU Temp Backwards?
Dec 29, 2010I have a 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 with dual Xeon 2.66GHz. One of my favorite apps on my Macs is iStat Menus for which I purchased a family pack. I am running latest version 3. However, when I added it to my Mac Pro I am getting goofy CPU temp readings. At idle I am reading about 60C on one CPU and 55C on the other. But then if I fire up all the cores (Handbrake for example) then the reported CPU temps DROP to about 48C and 43C (notice same differential of 5C between CPUs). All the fan speeds stay the same so it is not extra cooling kicking in. Seems to be reading the wrong thing.
I know with Intel that the CPU just reports the distance to Tjmax and then the software reading that number takes the TjMax reading for that particular CPU model and figures out the corresponding Tj. It almost seems to be what is happening is that iStat is reading the "distance to TjMax" and reporting that without doing the math. That would account for the reading working backwards I suppose.

Oct 25, 2009Just a strange occurrence this evening: I just watched a DVD on superdrive: when it finished, I ejected it and glanced at my Finder menu bar. IStat Menus gave me a temp of 135 and rising (went as high as 140 degrees a few minutes after ejecting and shutting down DVD Player). But the fans aren't on at all--never came on, as far as I can tell--and the MBA feels cool to the touch. Now it's maybe 20 minutes later and iStat reads temps as still at 115 degrees. But my laptop feels totally cool to the touch. I restarted, hoping to reset iStat, but no change. Any idea as to what's going on?

Its a nice app, but I'm not sure if its needed, even if its only 10 bucks.
Anyone else care to chime in on this?
Don't get me wrong, if I like an application, I'll buy it. I've purchased delta walker (compare utility) and will be upgrading my transmit to version 4.
Its just this type of eye candy - is it worth 10 bucks (that's the discounted price, it will go up)

I cannot find anything to re enable them now, and it is a shame, because I thought they were pretty ^_^
