View 4 RepliesI might be using primarily Soundbooth and After Effects for some sweet projects for school, and for my future music recording career path (maybe Logic Studio Pro is better?) I got to use both a VERY LITTLE BIT on a PC. But how well do they work on the Unibody MBs? Either 2.0 or 2.4?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhas anyone had tiny cracks in the metal of the unibodies? I have a macbook pro with an invisible shield on it and I have noticed what looks to be a tiny crack about a cm in length. When I rub back and forth on the invisible shield it goes away as is the chemical used to hold on the shield fills it in?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got the new MBA, and I already set up an account and then went home and used the Migration Assistant. When doing so, it created a second user account, so all the information I created on the first one over the past few days, it separate from the information I needed transferred over from my time machine? How do I go about merging these two accounts, so I have all my files on one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two external hard drives with very similar iTunes libraries. The older one has some albums that the newer one does not, the new one has more albums from some of the artists as well as new artists. I have tried moving the files before and ended up loosing a lot of content. What is the best way to merge all of the music onto one hard drive while ensuring that a file with more information isn't being overwritten by a file with less information with the same name?

I have 2 mac minis at my fingertips. I've done a bit of we scanning and had some very foggy info so I thought I'd see my self. Is it possible to use both my macs as 1 doubly strong computer, a sort of 'merging' thing.

In my ~/Music folder resides two huge folders for iTunes. I'm sure this came about when I reinstalled Snow Leopard some time ago, I didn't realize the transfer didn't happen correctly at the time. One is called iTunes (296 gigs, last opened on Aug 31 and modified today) which seems to be my current folder used by iTunes 10. The other is called iTunes Media (252 gigs, last opened July 30 and last modified on the same date). I'm noticing in here however, files (such as Voice Memos) that are NOT in the first folder I mentioned above. I've probably tons of duplicates here, but what is not a duplicate I'd like to send into the correct place - and then kill the huge unneeded folder! How can I verify where iTunes looks for all of it's data? Music, videos, books, etc. Any suggestions as to how I could merge these?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the CS5 design premium and it seems to have installed all the applications in separate folders. This kinda annoys me. Is there a way to make it all go into one folder like how the microsoft office and iWork applications are.

I have a backup my old Itune library into my backup disk (I copied the whole folder in the HD>Music>Itune into the disc). Now that I have reloaded my machine and subscribe to some of the new Itune podcast that I am interest in. Now I end up with 2 library (one in my machine and another one in my backup disc). Is there any way to merge 2 library together? I really doesn't want to redownloaded everything again.
I can't seem to merge PDFs in Preview 5.5.1. I've read that you simply open multiple PDFs in the thumbnail and then place one PDF on top of another, but when I try, the two PDFs just wiggle around and change order. If not preview - what program should I use?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
I use Preview to merge PDF files. I have noticed that the resulting files are a lot larger than the sum of the single PDFs. An example: I have 3 files with the following file sizes: 70 KB, 120 KB, 1.3 MB. The resulting PDF after merging those files in one is over 5 MB.
Why this is the case and how I can avoid it?
I am using the latest version of Aperture and merging multiple iPhoto and Aperture libraries into 1. This new feature works great. However, now I have an library_name.aperture file that ultimately, I am only going work with from iPhoto.
iPhoto opens this fine however, I was wondering about the naming convention. After I merge everything in Aperture, can I move the library and change the name to library_name".photolibrary"?
I have searched, googled, etc., and not found a satisfactory answer. Briefly, I have used my ITunes on our MBP and on an old Dell PC. At various times I have downloaded music, TV shows, movies etc to either system. Our AppleTV syncs with the Dell and purchased stuff is on there. I just bought a new 27" IMac and a qnap NAS. I want all the media to be on the NAS. How do I go about "merging" the ITunes data from the two computers into a single file on the NAS drive? Is there a way to do so - without losing stuff or without having to individually go through every single song, show, movie, etc.?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI dont know how to do what I am wanting to do the easiest way. I just bought a Macbook last night. And I just learned found Migration Assistant by accident. Holy cow! I've been a mac user for 6 years how did I not know about this thing?
Well it saved me a bazillion dollars in burned cds. The problem is it made a new account on my Macbook representing my old computer with the files on it. I want the files on my main Macbook account. Then I want to delete this second account it made. How do I go about this? hmmm?
So I had my iMac set up with two partitions.
1 - OS disk 160GB
2 - Other 500GB
Please note the 'Other' partition was empty.
I either didn't research that well, or read the instructions I found by googling. But I had tried to merge the two partitions.I clicked on the main drive (WD 640GB) in disk utility - Clicked on the partition tab - the chose 'other' and clicked the minus sign... Something went wrong from here.
Now Disk Utility shows the main drive (WD 640GB) as 640GB.But I click on OSX - It still only shows 16GB
I have lost the other 500GB. Im not sure how to get it back..
Sometimes I have had 2 folders with some content, which I would like to merge. For example two itunes music folders. Is there any way to transfer all files from folder 1 to folder 2 but not overwrite those that already exist? I do also have some documents folders where I would like to do the trick if it is possible.

Is migrating from one computer to another equal to merging the 2 computers or is it only transferring the old one (10.6.8) to the new one (10.9.3) ?

I have mulitple photo folders and multiple storage sites, icloud, iphone and windows cpu. They all have the same photo folders but there are alot of duplicates. I'd just like to clean this up and merge them illiminate duplicates and have one folder. With the new appeture i can search by years and places so this will work. Just not sure how to go about without screwing this up. Do i do this on the CPU or iCloud. how exactly?

I have read on a lot of forums that it is possible to merge AND SAVE multi-page pdfs with preview. I can get all of the images I want, but when I go to save as pdf in the print menu, it only shows ONE page. I have seen tutorials online and I have followed them step-by-step (I have Leopard 10.5.6), and simply cannot make this work - it will only save one page.
I have Adobe in my parallels but I absolutely loathe opening it because it brings my computer speed down to a crawl.
Please, if someone knows of a workaround for this, let me know! I am taking tons of screen shots and trying to merge them as pdfs in a quick way so I can send back and forth with my web designer.
In Lion, is there a way to merge or sync the address book on my mac with iCloud addresses? The data in these is different and I only want to use iCloud. I have about 1,700 addresses, so it would take forever to do manually.

I had an iTunes account before I got my MacBook Pro and they have different IDs. The first account has all my purchased music and I would like to use it with my new computer. When I try to download music of the previous account from the Cloud, I get the message that the iTunes account information differs from the computer. Can the first account be edited, or can the two be merged without losing anything or having to buy again?

Is there a way to do an e-mail merge? What I mean is I need individualized messages to multiple e-mail recipients. A regular mail merge just creates individual documents which you have to manually address and e-mail.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need some sort of free program to take two pictures and put them side by side. It's a one time deal so I don't want to pay for it, I just have images of artwork and their respective placards that I'd like to be able to put side by side as one image so it's easier to follow. I know it sounds basic and probably dumb but I literally have zero experience with photo applications.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI finally ripped my music into digital format. It is a very large library so I performed the rips in four segments creating four folders of music. The highest level folders are Music1, Music2, Music3, Music4. The next layer folder is the artists name, then album name, then the actual MP3S.
How do I merge the folders? If I perform a copy the first artist name is sees that already is exists, the finder wants me to skip the copy or replace the folder that is there. I simply want to add the folder or merge it. Is there a "merge" function in OSX? I tried Carbon Copy but it will not copy or sync fils on the same disk.
So last December my laptop got smashed and everything works except for the backlit screen. In fact I can still use this laptop it is just extremely hard since the screen does not light up. The person that smashed it ended up buying me a new laptop so I have this beat up (and I mean the shell is destroyed) laptop with quite a lot of functioning parts.
Now a few weeks ago my girlfriends Grandad spilled a beer on his brand new 2010 Macbook. The logic board is shot so it is almost cheaper for him to buy a brand new laptop.
Would it be possible for me to take the logic board out of my 2008 Black Macbook and put it into his 2010 White Macbook?
By far the most interesting benchmark trend coming out of the latest Macbook Air tests is that of the 320M GPU - is this thing somehow clocked differently than in the Macbook/Macbook Pro?
From:
[URL]
The latest Macbook Pro 13" 2.4 Ghz gets 33 FPS in Call of Duty 4, whereas the Macbook Air 13" (using the same 320M GPU) gets 40 FPS. Even the 1.4Ghz 11" gets 37! So obviously we're not talking about a CPU limited game - the only explanation then is that the GPU in the Macbook Air is clocked differently than in the 13" Macbook Pro, no?
From:
[URL]
Again the Macbook Air clocked at 2.13 ghz is beating the 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro in World of Warcraft and Portal! And in WOW the 11" 1.4ghz still manages to beat the 2.4 Ghz 13" Macbook Pro.
Anyone have any additional insight into this? Anand did a terrible job of testing these for gaming performance, unfortunately, so he may not have even noticed this trend.
