I just got a MacBook Air from work. I want to install iphoto. I bought it at itunes, but I cannot access it. It exists in my app column of itunes, but I want it on my desktop.

Somehow I was trying to change my itunes size and ended up draging my download folder off of my dock. This is probably a simple fix, but can someone please tell me how to get it back on my dock.

in prepartation for snow leopard I decided i better do a backup of my drive. I turned to trusty old super duper. i did a backup using "smart update" which in the past has left all my files on my external drive intact and copied over my main drive. however today it decided to simply erase the drive and then do a backup. It's NEVER done this before in the past, and i've now lost everything on my media drive: music, photos, movies, everything. can i recover what was lost? or am i completed effed in the a? the irony: doing a backup and in the process losing everything that counted.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAwhile back I was messing with some things and now...the atypical/stock downloads icon that sits on the dock got deleted. I tried dragging and dropping the downloads folder there, but that has other downloads info.
I just want that little 2/3"x2/3" (not sure on actual size) window that pops up as you are downloading something. It still pops up when I am downloading, but it isn't on the dock.
Need to change administrators password but lost Mac OS X media disk. Can I buy a replacement?

Itunes - Tries to "determine" gapless playback information everytime it starts up, won't work when you got your media over a network share.
Cog - It would be the best media player IF it didn't have so many bugs.
Songbird - I can't use my native keyboard media switching capabilities on the macbook pro. Also, it's slow.
So what else is there? (has to have a playlist)
i have a 1.5 Mbps AT&T DSL connection, and multiple speed tests show a download speed of 1.2 Mbps (and 200 Kbps upload). when i download files, such as software updates from Apple, various podcasts, and even Silverlight from Microshaft, the speed is always between 140 - 160 Kbps. i contacted AT&T, and the rep said it was because of buffering by the servers i was receiving the files from.

I dont let iTunes organise my library, nor copy to iTunes library when adding
The default iTunes Media Folder is located on this drive where about 70% of the songs are (songs that have been ripped from CD or downloaded.
My USB HD was plugged in correctly, but a song couldnt be found...so I tried another and it found it straight away...odd
I then hit 'Get Info' on the bad songs, and the location that Itunes was looking in, was changed to a new Default iTunes Music Folder on my Macs drive
Very strange as I have never known iTunes to change the location of a file before within the library?
Ive come to the conclusion that it was only the files that were stored in the Default iTunes Media Folder that coudnt be found.
So I then checked in preferences, to see where the Default iTunes Music Folder was, and it was on my Macs Drive, instead of the USB drive (possibly due to starting iTunes up, without my HD plugged in)
Changed this back to location on my USB Hard Drive, and all of a sudden iTunes re-writes my library to show all the files in the correct position again! Ive never known it do this before on my PC, is it a new feature?

Trying to listen to live streaming of a U2 concert tonight. The radio station says' i dont have the right plug in for MIME.
I've tried some recommend by windows and i've download VLC but still to no avail.
I imported mp3 track to library as a "Music" kind (default).
Then changed media kind to "Podcast". The track dissapeared in music list, but don't appeared in podcasts list.
Tried to re-import it, tried to use search

I've followed several tutorials on how to get this done, as it seems so simple but it's not working on my end. I've moved the iTunes folder from the /music/ to an external hard drive. I'm opening iTunes, going to Preferences, Advanced, and replacing the iTunes Media folder location to the correct one /Volumes/Volume E/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media Â

Funny enough, Spotify finds it in seconds and I can play my music from that player instead.

Two weeks ago I installed Lion over Snow Leopard with no apparent problems. But tiday I wanted to open a new Safari window and saw that the menu bar was empty except for the Apple, and that doesn't respond. I'm afraid to reboot for fear that I'll lose the one Safiri window that's open because it's work-related.

This problem I've been having started when the latest version of Safari moved from a Downloads window to a Downloads pop-up pane. My expectation as to how the pane should work is this: the 20 most recent downloads are shown in the list, and when a new download begins, the oldest download is removed from the list, thereby keeping the new list updated with the 20 latest downloads. My problem is that while the pane still keeps 20 past downloads listed, they're not always recent downloads. For example, when I download a file, the file will typically remain in the list until I begin a new download, at which point the slightly earlier download will be removed from the list, while even older downloads remain listed. So at the moment, listed are five recent downloads and fifteen downloads from many months ago, while downloads from days or hours ago have been removed from the list.In Preferences I have (and always have) "Remove download list items" set to "Manually." Currently I am running the lasted versions of OSX (10.7.3) and Safari (5.1.5).Â

I have a mac, and my mom has a PC. I have been on her account since I was pretty young, so It's a shared account. It's under my email and apple ID, but my mom is on the same account, on her own computer. I want to have automatic downloads so I can use it for my iphone and ipad, but I don't want her song to end up going to my devices or laptop when she downloads from her own computer. is there a way to either turn off automatic downloads for just one computer, or get her a new account, but letting her transfer all of her music onto the new one?

I recently changed the iTunes Media Folder default location to a different area on my drive. I waited a couple minutes and the files did not move. I was unaware you had to go into your settings and also select to consolodate files. Since the files didn't move I reselected my default location and kept trying to go back and forth a couple times. After letting it sit for a couple more minutes I noticed over 200 GB's of files were missing. I looked in each folder I tried to change the default Media Folder location to but they were not in either of them. I have also ran multiple system file recover programs and been unable to find them.Â

Need some help here. My friend is a DJ and had an external drive with tens of thousands of songs on it. The plug broke on it and I think that corrupted it since Eject was not used. I pulled the 3.5in HDD out of the case and hooked up up with some other external plugs I have.
When I run Data Rescue 3 on it, it shows that it sees almost all of these and the only two formats it counts up are mpeg and mp3s. Data Rescue then finishes the scan and has a bunch of crap files that are not needed, but none of the songs show up. What is going on here? Did I miss something in Data Rescue 3.
The drive is a 1TB drive and the backup drive we are using is 640GB, but there was only about 250GB of music on the drive to begin with.
If you can stream the Mac as a media server on your PS3 just like how it does on Windows for Windows Media Player....
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been doing some reorganizing lately, including updating my file structure from My Music to My Media, with Music, Books etc within it. I did this using the built-in iTunes option (File->Library->Organize Library->Reorganize files in the folder "iTunes Media"). I have both "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" switched on.Â
When I performed this reorganization I noticed that the media folder was still called "My Music", not "My Media", though the directories within for Music, Books etc were all there and organized correctly. So I renamed the folder to "My Media" and updated this name in the Advanced Preferences by changing "iTunes Media folder location."Â
When I now add new items to the library I find they are being added to the directory My Media, and not to the media-specific subdirectory (Music or Books or whatever) even though the entries within iTunes itself appear in the appropriate media subsection.Â

I just booted into Windows and saw that there were some Windows Updates available and it asked me to reboot the computer however it failed to boot into Windows. So I restarted and tried to boot into OS X instead, but that didn't work either.
So I put in the OS X install DVD and checked out Disk Utility. Turned out that all my partitions where screwed up. There were 3 partitions listed as Windows_ldm, with incorrect sizes (I had 4 partitions before).
Long story short: I'm now reinstalling OS X and I lost everything I had on the drive, I think. I'll try some restore software once I've gotten OS X installed.
A little pissed right now... How the heck can Windows F up the entire drive?
A recent crossover to Apple OS I am finding it difficult to specify a location for any downloaded files. Example I may want the first download in directory labeled 'A' and the next in directory labeled 'B' yet I only seem to be able to specify a default location for all downloads (in this case a folder in my 'Folders' directory labelled 'downloads')
Is there a way to specify ad hoc where you wish something be saved?

I have no idea what happened but all of a sudden my SAFARI stopped proceeding downloads. If I try to download for example SAFARI 4.0.4 I won't see any window showing downloading process. Or when I have tried to download anything else there wasn't any window showing download or even warning message, nothing. I don't have a clue. I even reinstalled whole OS but nothing...
