View 7 RepliesI have a MBP 13". I updated it to 10.6.2 a while back and ever there was some kind of auto-detection going on where when I plugged in my MBP's headphone jack to external speakers I could adjust the volume all the way up to max. If I unplugged the speakers and play from the internal speakers I would turn it down to about 1/4 volume. The computer seemed to remember the volume settings for both scenarios and applied them appropriately when I plugged in/unplugged the speakers.

After getting Windows to reorganize my 2TB HFS+ partitions, I decided to create a small 300 GB partition on one of the volumes and format as NTFS for use in Boot Camp. I did this with iPartition (which was very easy), and when I booted into Win7 - all my HFS+ partitions, and the new NTFS partition were visible to Win7. I was a happy camper. After playing around in in windows for a while, I booted back into OS X, and much to my horror, all the HFS+ partitions on that drive, *except* for the new NTFS one, were not there! iPartition just shows a 300 GB contiguous space called Windows Work. In fact, my 2TB drive is now a 300 GB NTFS drive with a little free space. The rest of the 2TB's are gone....in OS X that is. I really need to get this data back so I can use it in OS X, so could anybody please tell me what I did wrong and how to get this volume's partitioning back to the way it was.

My account setting icon is missing in system preferences. Can anyone provide me with advice on how to fix this problem. Also, whenever I start the computer it makes me log on now.
My macbook pro is an OSX 10.5.8, purchased in January 2009.
i like to keep my dock populated with apps that i use regularly i want to keep FaceTime there so i went and slightly altered the icon and found it a little tricky to change using the conventional methods. So as well as sharing my new icon (which is just the actual FaceTime icon without the triangle on the right) i thought i would put together a wee guide in case anyone else wants to do so.Step 1. Navigate to the FaceTime application in the Applications folder (or wherever you have stored it in Finder)tep 2. Right click on the application icon and select show package contents..

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I installed Adium and as part of the package it installed Growl. I've decided that I prefer not to use Adium so I dragged the application from my Applications folder to the Trash. My question is how do I remove Growl from my system? The icon is still showing up in System Preferences. This is one caveat I have over Windows. Apple should make an uninstaller to completely remove all necessary components.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm not an expert on OS X, however recently I've been trying to spend more time with the system to learn and possibly switch from W7. The weirdest thing happened last night. I'm was trying to uninstall istat 3.0 from my system and it froze( the beach ball ). After force quiting it, i tried to start Word but the icon would only keep on bouncing and stop after a minute. No error message no nothing. I was sure it's an issue with Office itself, but no other software is starting. Mental Case, UnrarX, Excel, even Ponyvid, just bounce their icon around for 30-40 seconds and wont start. The only software that works are Apple's own Safari, Mail, Calendar , iPhoto and iTunes. They start normally with no fuss. I tried restarting and even creating another user account, and it didn't help. Is it possible that istat 3.0 blew something in the system? If so, what can it be? Anybody had this kind of situation before? Any fix on hand? What should I do next?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought an ipad and it had icloud and when I attach the ipad to the macbook pro (running lion; up to date) it is not even recognizing that it is attached.
