I recently purchased QT pro and received a registration code. To download the new software the first step is to open system preferences and click on the Quicktime icon. The Quick time icon is not in my system preferences. What do I do now?
My QuickTime icon is not in my system preferences (according to the download instructions) what other options do I have to upgrade with my QT Pro code?
I just bought the new Quicktime Pro application- for $30. Cannot find out how to download it. The "downloading steps" first instruct me to go to my APPLE ICON, Select SYSTEM PREFERENCES, and then select the QUICKTIME icon.... But I can't find the Quicktime Icon. It's not there. Yes, I already have the Quicktime 7 application. So WHY won't it show up in my System Preferences?!
I just installed iLife '09 on a fresh install of OS X 10.5.6 and my system preferences icon is gone the spot is there i can still click on it but the icon is gone.
I was looking through a few apple videos on the site and noticed that one of the icons was different, I haven't noticed it before but the energy saving icon is showing as an energy saving bulb, which makes more sense. Is this new? or an old design?
Just upgraded to Lion on my desktop machine (iMac) and laptop (MacBook Pro). iCloud is working fine between my laptop and mobile devices (iPhone and iPad), but not with my desktop iMac. This is most obvious with iCal, which still tries to sync with MobileMe (even though the account info says its been upgraded to iCloud.Â
My account setting icon is missing in system preferences. Can anyone provide me with advice on how to fix this problem. Also, whenever I start the computer it makes me log on now.
My macbook pro is an OSX 10.5.8, purchased in January 2009.
I just bought an ipad and it had icloud and when I attach the ipad to the macbook pro (running lion; up to date) it is not even recognizing that it is attached. I want to put the icloud on the macbook pro because it is not on there. When I go to system preferences and look for the icon for icloud it is not there. The instructions said that you have to go to system preferences and click on the icloud icon and follow the instructions but I show no icon.Â
I can't seem to access icloud on my mac. All my software is up to date. When i access support for icloud, it tells me to click on the icloud icon in my system preferences but that's not an option.
I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a MacMini Server. Just set up the computer up and am trying to get user accounts for all of my family members. I have set up two Admin accounts, and want to set up a standard account for my child utilizing Parental Controls. When I set up the user, there is no box to check that says "Enable Parental Controls" and there is not Parental Control Icon in the System Preferences>System tab next to the "Accounts" icon. I have updated the system software using "Software Update" and have no programs or apps installed that did not come with my server from Apple.
I'm not talking about the System Preferences app itself, I'm talking about the settings within the app. So for instance, the security settings, and the mouse settings, energy saver, etc.
Where can I find the settings files on my Mac so I can back them up?
could not be sure whether the Admin user - password reset with the CD would be the solution to my question as suggested in previous threads I searched - and have no idea where my start up install CD is
So my question-
I was trying to put parental control to ask for password when my computer starts up. I did something I guess and messed up the info.
I can log in with my own account when I restart my apple - which says now it is a standard account (must have messed that up)- but can not make any changes on system preferences or anything else that requires login and password. It requires Admin info. My own login that I use now used to be my admin so do not have any other info set.
now on system pref - accounts - an account titled "test" seems to be admin but can not even access that and reverse myself to be the admin since I can not unlock system pref. Or cant click on "Login Options" for the same reason.
There are no other users on this computer than me.
I recently took the plunge and installed Lion after being content with Snow Leopard....well now I have quite a few issues. When I open system preferences for some reason it automatically opens to Network...why I'm not sure. When I click show all, then click sharing, I can't make any changes in the Sharing preferences without my entire system locking up. I can't force quit or anything. I can still use the mouse but all I have is the rainbow wheel!
I have searched and searched and haven't been able to fix it. I have tried booting into the Guest account and the same problem happens there. I have trashed all the plist files everyone says to try. I have tried repairing permissions etc. I feel like I have tried everything. Is there anything else that I can do without have to do a clean re-install. I'm hearing if I do this that I won't be able to migrate my files from by backups due to permission problems?
I also took a look at my system log and it is full of this! Jul 3 22:24:26 jessica-imac com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.Kerberos.digest-service[1307]): Exited with code: 1 Jul 3 22:24:26 jessica-imac com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.Kerberos.digest-service): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds .....
To set any of these, go to terminal and enter in the code for whichever preference you want to set. Remember, to reset the setting to its default value, just change the "1" at the end to a "0" (or vice versa).
Disable rounded corners
Code: defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGCinematicWindowDebugForceNoRoundedCorners 1 Never show titlebar/controller
Code: defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGUIVisibilityNeverAutoshow 1 Always show titlebar/controller...............
Recently my Quicktime X audio has been sounding very strange, it sounds like its playing in a drain pipe... it has that compressed echo sound to it. I have tried deleting the app and even re installing OSX Lion but to no avail... the sound remains the same. All other video player apps work just fine and sound perfect. Also, does anyone else have a "preferences" tab for Quicktime. I no longer have one but im not sure if it ever did have one.Â
