This upgrade sent out 5th/6th February 2010 has caused my family's iPods and my AppleTV to disconnect from the iTunes library and demand a return to factory settings for all units. Still have not got any of them to sync with the library or reload the back-up settings in the case of the iPods

I opened itunes today and all my music was gone for no reason. The files were still there, so I imported the itunes music folder. That would have worked, but most of my music is in .wav, so all the albums and artists got lost leaving a big jumble of songs. Everything is still intact on the ipod. Is it possible to restore the itunes library from the ipod or am I stuck re-ripping all my CDs?

My problem is this: A few weeks ago, the (not over-worked at all) HD of my two and a half year old MBP crashed completely. Fortunately, I have Applecare, so the HD was replaced without any difficulty and free of charge, and returned reasonably rapidly. However, all of my data, and perhaps equally upsetting, my entire iTunes collection (not far off 6,000 songs) has also vanished into the ether of cyberspace. (Did I have anything backed up? Um, no. Second moral of the story: Back-ups are Good).
Anyway, I have the entire music collection on two iPods, a classic (80GB) and a iTouch (64GB). My problem is how to restore this collection to iTunes, as syncing either of them at present may result in the further obliteration of the music collection. So, fellow denizens of MR, advise me please: What is the best way to attempt to restore - from an iPod to iTunes - a prized music collection? Senuti has been mentioned; is it recommended, and what does it entail? It was also suggested to me that I use the Classic for this attempted restoration, rather than the Touch.
Any suggestions on software that will transfer content of Ipod touch back to Itunes after problems with my MAC and had to reinstall everything.

I'm currently trying to decide if I'd like to buy a AppleTv as it seems to fit what I would like it to do, but here's my question(s):
Say I have a NAS running iTunes server, for purposes of this question this is the exact one I was looking at (NAS) and I'd like to use this as my main server for all my computers, as in put my library on the NAS so it can stream to any computer / appletv in the house, now will the iTunes server only allow music to be streamed or will it also work with videos etc.
And if this does work, will I have to add the movies / music in iTunes running on a Mac / PC and then sync it to the NAS or exactly how does that work so that it's added to that library?
it might sound kind of messed up after I typed it out, but I'm trying to be clear with what I would like it to do.
I just upgraded to Lion and now all of my music is gone in my iTunes library. How I can get it back. Is it now in the cloud since I have an iCloud account? I can see all of my music on my iPad. In addition, all of my music is on the hard drive in Music>iTunes>iTunes Music. Is there a way to create a new library and add the music from the path it just outlines?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell subsequnt a recent upgrade to iTunes 10.6, my Library is not recognized. I have tried various ways of loading the xml file, and it just comes up as a blank/ new Library. The other day, for no reason I could tell, I launched iTunes and it created a new Library and will not open my usual Library. This problem did not exactly coincide neatly with updating to 10.6 either, so frankly I have no idea what happened. So, maybe I could restore using iTunes 10.5. But I can't find any download links for 10.5. Is there somewhere to download previous versions of iTunes? Or do they remove anything and everything for previous versions with each update?

I own a MacBook Pro 17" with the Hi-Res screen (True HD 1900x1200). I would really, really like to rent HD movies from the iTunes store instead of the normal resolution versions (although they are probably not true HD...) - but, as we all know, this unfortunately only works with AppleTV. (Stupid!) Do you think it is possible that somebody could write an iTunes crack, hack or whatever it is called to simulate that the rental is made with an AppleTV although I'm on a computer? If yes, this would be a kick-ass program.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a movie Bolt, for my son on itunes. I am trying to write this movie to a DVD as we are going on holiday and I want to take it with me. When I go to uDVD it tells met to first go to iMovie, share, media browser. However, when I do that, the options media browser is not available to choose. Last night I was able to write the movie to the DVD by opening iDVD, choosing file, burn to DVD from movie. However, it burned the DVD with sound but no picture. Obvsiouly it is encoded or something but I cannot figure out how to get this right!
We are gonig tomorrow and I need to do this tonight! I am not very computer literate!
Ever since I reformatted my Mac a few weeks ago, I've had some interesting new problems. I've been told for some of them that it is because before my reformat, my Mac was updated from Snow Leopard, and carried over some stuff into Lion.
This problem involves iTunes 10.6 and streaming to a second-generation Apple TV. (The 720p version, but running iOS 5 that came out with the new 1080p Apple TV) The problem involves my Mac going to sleep. I can fix the problem, but it works differently than it used to: Before, my Mac went to sleep after three hours of inactivity; if my iTunes library was being accessed by my AppleTV, iPhone, or iPad using Home Sharing, it would never sleep as long as it was being accessed remotely. Now, however, it will still sleep if it is being accessed, which causes problems since my Mac is on the other end of the house from the Apple TV, and I often run it for more than three hours when listening to music as ambiance or watching a television/movie marathon from my iTunes Library.
I can set my Mac to never sleep, but I would prefer it would still sleep after the three hours -- assuming it wouldn't sleep while accessing it from Home Sharing.

I have a new IPAD and just bought APple TV. Need to set up home sharing on my account and have followed Support options wherein you log into ITunes, choose advanced, then allow Home sharing. There is no place to even sign in to ITunes as i have always seen before. Cannot start ITunes on Laptop (linked to IPAD) at all but can from Browser. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a very large iTunes library, with content spread over multiple volumes. Recently, I would add, say, a movie to the iTunes library. I don't have iTunes set to copy content into the library, so it stays where it is. Now, the item looks like it got added. If, within iTunes, I'm in the "Movies" library, and I search for the movie I just added, it isn't there. I do a search for it, and it isn't there. However, all the AppleTVs connected to the library show that it is there, and I can play it.
So, clearly the item has made it into the library, otherwise it wouldn't be streamed to the connected AppleTVs, (and iPhones, and iPads). But, it still will not show up in the iTunes library list. No matter what I do. I can quit and relaunch iTunes, I can quit iTunes and open it back up with the "option" key to that I can specifcally choose that library, etc. But, it never shows up in the list. I just upgraded to iTunes 10.6.1, and still, no dice. It will not show up in the iTunes list, but I can still play it from shared iPhones, iPads, and AppleTVs.

I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.2.2(3) and all of the content has disappeared from my iTunes library aside from what I've purchased from the iTunes store (this seems to be syned to the online store, which would explain it). I can still see all of the song files when I go to username/music/iTunes/Library on my hard drive and it's frustrating because I've tried to link it back to these files several times under iTunes/Preferences and it still won't update the songs in the iTunes application.

Both are current with software updates as of 12/11/2014 When running sync or backup I get an error message that the iPhone has disconnected. Both are on the same network and are connected together with a USB cable. Last successful backup was prior to iTunes upgrade on 12/9. Today I successfully backed up my iPhone to a windows machine with the latest version of iTunes, no problems. Seems the Mac version is the issue not the iPhone. I was going to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it on the Mac but I could get it to uninstall. iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2

I have an older iPod that has some playlists on it that are not in my iTune library. I want this same playlist on my iPhone but when I do an 'export' then try to drag and drop into my phone I get a message saying it did not copy because 'it cannot be played on this phone'. I also cannot drag and drop it into iTunes anywhere either. All of these songs are in my library, I just don't want to have to go through and remake this playlist to add to my phone.

I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then.How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.

When I go into 'Computer' in Windows, I can see my Macintosh HD drive and most of its contents, some pics and other folders etc are all viewable and draggable into Windows. I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external
