Applications :: CS5 And Spaces Settings In Snow Leopard?

Jun 14, 2010

Has anyone got CS5 to respect Spaces settings in Snow Leopard? Even if I use System Prefs to assign it to a single Space, when I cmd-tab to Dreamweaver it simply moves itself into the current Space.

MacBook Pro :: Applications Not Showing In Spaces On Snow Leopard

Mar 22, 2012

I have looked in the forums and haven't found anything specific to my issue. I can't tap F8 because it starts  music in my iTunes, so I set it up with right click on my mouse (yep using a mouse). When the spaces applications show up on my screen in squares,  only Firefox shows up,and the others show up as blue squares with nothing in them. How do I get them to show up? I have the applications assigned to different spaces, not the same one. I have spaces enabled as well.

OS X :: Missing Feature In Snow Leopard (re-Spaces)

Aug 17, 2009

Assign applications to spaces. Assign an application to any space from its icon in the Dock with a click. Quickly spread your work out in different spaces by assigning an application to a space right from the Dock. Just right-click the Dock icon and select a space for the application. I cannot find this feature in the latest build.

OS X :: Spaces Little More Difficult To Work With On Snow Leopard - "feature" Missing?

Sep 13, 2009

Before I got this new Snow Leopard I would hit f8 to bring up spaces, then move the cursor to say the upper left space, and then hit f8 again to move to that space. Now though, I have to move the cursor to the upper left space and then actually click the mouse button on it to go to this space. If I hit f8 without clicking, I just come back to the space Im already on.

Why this bother me is because first of all I work quicker the other way, no biggy though. BUT before I could also drag a file from one space to another because I could switch space only by using f8 and moving the cursor. Now when I have to click on the damn thing it'll "release" the file Im trying to drag, so I cant drag between spaces in the same cool and quick way.

OS X :: Snow Leopard Changing Settings?

Nov 2, 2009

I just installed Snow Leopard, and immediately I noticed that everything was darker. I had to adjust the gamma to get it to look normal, but things seem a little too bright now. Also in Adium, it messed up my fonts. My text is so small while my received messages are normal size, and I can't seem to get my sent message text to be the same size as my received message text. There are other small things too, but it's annoying and I'd like my old configs back, is there any way or do I just need to put up with it?

MacBook Pro :: Snow Leopard Change SMC Settings?

Sep 15, 2009

I did not have to use smc fan control earlier but ever since 10.6, it seems my notebook does not ramp up the fans until 90C or even higher. In 10.5 I would see the fans to start coming on when the temp got in the 80C range. Anyone else have a similar experience? I was converting a movie to my iPhone using Quicktime X last night and I saw the temp get to 100C before the fans ramped up and stayed at about 6200rpm. I hate to make another cpu temperature thread, but I am trying to see if Snow Leopard had any impact on SMC settings.

(I also did a SMC reset after installing SL and the effects are the same with the fan speed not coming on sooner) I guess now is the time to get the program to control my fan speed. Just sucks that Apple themselves cannot control their own temps

OS X :: How To Set Default Settings For All Files And Folders In Snow Leopard

Dec 11, 2009

I'm pretty new to Mac and I'm currently quite confused about how to set default settings for all my files and folders in Snow Leopard. Specifically, I would like for all the icons in Finder windows (and preferably also in the "Documents" stack in the Dock) to automatically be displayed as large icons and also for all my files and folders to be arranged by Kind - all of this in "List View". In "Icon View", all of these things do work (except for in the "Documents" stack in the Dock).

In "List View", when I select "Use as Defaults" in the "View Options" panel (View>Show View Options), it does not seem to apply my settings automatically to all my folders and files. Likewise, when I right-click in a Finder window and select "Arrange by > Kind", it only seems to arrange by Kind in that particular folder.

I have read several other threads, but none of the solutions seem to work for me. One thread suggested that I hold "alt" after I have right-clicked so that the option "KEEP arranged by" shows up, but this does not seem to happen in "List View".

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Cannot Reset Finder To Default Settings?

Mar 2, 2012

Over the years my finder windows have been set to different colors, font sizes and so on. When I make a change I select the make default box in the show view options, but they never default except for that one finder window. I have erased com.apple.finder.plist and just for fun the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist but can not get the finder to go to a true default. Is there another plist that I am missing?

OS X :: Snow Leopard's Native NTFS Support And Security Settings

Feb 22, 2010

I am using the native NTFS read/write support via the /etc/fstab "hack" for lack of a better term. Since I routinely transfer files bigger than 4GB on a jumpdrive between Windows 7 and OSX I don't really have a choice but to use NTFS. I would rather use this than MacFuse/ntfs-3g since I think it is faster. When I write something to the drive and take it to the Windows 7 machine, the security on the newly written file is set to admin - I have to log in as the admin on the Win7 machine, right click and change the security settings. When I formatted the drive initially (on the Win7 machine), I set it for full control for everyone. Is there a way to force OSX to write the file with the same permissions as the drive?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Are All Programs / Configuration Settings Restored From A Time Machine Backup

Apr 30, 2012

The hardrive in my late 2006 Macbook 2.0ghz laptop has finally kicked the bucket.  I confirmed this with an Apple Genius at my local Apple store after she plugged in an external drive and running disk utility to run a diagnostic. However, I forgot to ask her about some details concerning my time machine backup which resides on an external drive that connects via firewire.  I do know that my files and folders should be restored without issues.  Although, I'm not sure about the following:

1.  Will all my non-apple applications / programs be restored?

2.  Will my configuration settings for mail be restored?

3.  Will my itunes settings be restored (I have an iphone and ipad that connects to itunes)?

4.  Will my contacts in address book be restored?

I still have the original drive of this laptop which still works just fine and boots up okay (never erased the OS) where the upgraded drive that I installed a few years ago is the one that failed. Therefore, I will be reverting back to the original drive that is smaller and slower.

The Genius recommended to run disk utility from the Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD (I originally had Leopard installed) to format the drive/install the OS and then do a full restore from my time machine backup.  Although, I'm not sure if all my programs and settings for certain apps will be restored.  I appreciate any help or other optioins I can possibly do to get back my saved files, programs, and settings.

OS X :: Stop Applications "Stealing Focus" In Leopard / Spaces?

Jun 9, 2008

I got the phrase "Stealing Focus" from Opera- it has an option where no webpage can put it's tab to the front of your view over what you were doing. I've had iMovie doing stuff all night and when it's done generating thumbnails or rendering/exporting a movie it always jumps to it's Space. Even when I switch immediately back to what I was doing in another Space it sometimes does it. AARGH- it's just done it now! Can't I just rely on the iMovie icon doing it's Zebedee impression on the Dock and switch back when I'm done?

OS X :: Old Leopard Spaces Get Back

Dec 29, 2009

I'm late to the game with Snow Leopard and just upgraded today. The very first thing I noticed is that I can no longer active Spaces and then choose which Space I want with a number key. For example, in Leopard I had F19 mapped to display the Spaces view and then click '2' on the numberpad to display the second space. I used this A LOT and it was extremely fast and useful for me. But now with Snow Leopard, F19 will display the Spaces view, but clicking any numbers on the keypad doesn't do anything. I checked the preferences, but the only option is to select a key combination (ex: ^ Number Keys). I want to be able to hit *just* the number key.
