View 3 Replies View RelatedOver the past few weeks, I've noticed problems with my PowerBook's headphone jack. The headphone plugs don't stay seated in the jack, resulting in loss of audio in either one ear or both until I adjust the plug, at which point it will almost always happen again. I usually end up having to hold the plug in place to get consistent sound from both ears.
At first, I thought it was just my headphones, so I borrowed a couple pairs from friends and ordered a backup pair from Amazon, all with the same results. I've peeked inside the jack once or twice and everything looks fine...but what do I know? I'll be in downtown Chicago tomorrow and Thursday, so I plan on making a trip to the Apple Store, but is there anything else I should try beforehand? As I recall, the PB headphone jack is part of the logic board, correct?
I had connected my MacBook Pro to a set of speakers using the headphone jack. Ever since then when I use headphones the jack only outputs sound to the right side. There is no red light coming from the jack and I've also tried resetting the SMC but nothing has changed.

Something happened to my earphones that the tip hot stucked inside the port. I tried to take it out but i could not. So what should I do?

I recently installed windows vista (home edition) via bootcamp on my macbook pro.
Everything is running perfectly apart from the sound. I think it might an issue with the computers sound card. When I plug my headphones into the audio output jack, no sound comes through... it still plays out of the speakers. The sound is audible, but just barely.
What may be causing this? Are there any specific drivers I need to install?
my headphones will only go about halfway into the headphone jack and the volume is stuck on mute. it looks like there is something sticking out inside of the headphone jack.

The speaker on the top of my screen is muted and I cannot get any sound out of the internal speakers. When I try to raise or lower the volume there is a circle with a line through it underneadth the speaker level window that pops up and everything seems frozen. I've checked online to find a solution and did see a red light in the headphone jack. So I plugged back in headphones and a USB and pulled out the headphones, the red light went off but I still see no option for internal speakers in my Sound preferences. What do I do? I'm trying to avoid a trip to the apple store...
View 1 Replies View Related- Volume is at max
- System Prefs>Sound>External Speakers>Volume Max>Not Muted
- No red light coming from the headphone jack
- Tried inserting and removing headphones, no sound in speakers or headphones
- Restarted computer while holding down ⌘ + OPT + P + R , no sound made
- A very very faint feedback, like when you plug an electric guitar in to an amp, can be heard when the first sound (the mac start up chime) is supposed to play on restart
- USB headphones work
I have no audio for my headphones?? I see a red light inside that blinks is there a plan besides applecare for repair, My applecare plan just expired

Basically, I'm using a Macbook with Snow leopard (version 10.6.8) and in the last week or two (though it couldn't happened previously and not been noticed) whenever I remove my headphones from the macbook and go to listen to some audio, the mute and volume up/down buttons on my keyboard do not respond to changes in the volume.
So when I'm in itunes the only way to change the volume is by pressing pause in itunes itself and to use the slider, the keys F10, F11 and F12 to change them don't do anything. It's the same when watching youtube videos - the audio can only be muted through the button on the website and not through the audio buttons as I can do usually.
This problem goes away when I restart the macbook. Obviously it's not a massive issue, but restarting after finishing with my headphones just to have easier control over audio is annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or has dealt with it?

I have an issue that happens with my Macbook Pro. In certain applications, if I plug in my headphones - or unplug them, switching to speaker - from that point on the rest of the audio that the application outputs is delayed by about half-a-second. Now I could be talking-out-of-my-ass here, but this seems to *only* happen with applications that would be accessing the audio hardware through a more basic layer than the standard CoreAudio methods. For instance, it occurs in REAPER and Parallels, but not in Quicktime or iTunes. I find that if it does happen, if I can get the application to close the hardware and reopen it this fixes it. For instance, in Parallels I switch to a dummy output and then back, and it's fixed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my mac for a couple months short of a year. A few weeks ago, I needed to record a quick idea for a melody my guitarist and I had. I was aware that the I/O jack were one and the same in the 2011 MBP model, so I changed my settings to allow me to use it as an input jack. No problem. The problem, though, is that I can't use it as an output jack anymore. Audio plays fine through the built in speakers but turns into static when I change the I/O setting to output and plug my headphones in.

my MacBook Pro audio from the headphone jack just decided to stop working. The weird thing is, in system preferences, the computer is detecting that I've plugged in headphones. I can even control the volume and click play/pause from the control on the headphone wire, just no audio.

I have speakers plugged into the rear audio output, and headphones plugged into the front. I was wondering if it were possible to have audio play from both simultaniously...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've read that many people have been struggling to get the rear audio jack their Mac Pro to behave under bootcamp. The issue stems from the Realtek drivers 'Jack Detection' which normally allows windows to detect when you plug in headphones or speakers. On some Windows PC's the Realtek Audio Manager has the option to disable this detection, but the latest drivers don't include any advanced options.

- If you get the right adaptor, could you use the audio-in and audio-out simultaneously?

A few days ago I use a headphone do listen to music on my macbook pro but the headphone I was using was a bit old so the end of the pin it was a bit lager than the normal and now the other headphones I have (newer ones) stay too loose when plugged and disconnect very easily.Do you think it is possible to replace the audio out port without having to replace the hole motherboard? And do you think Apple would do that without charging me (I'm still covered by the warranty)?

I could answer this myself tomorrow morning by trying it out on my fiance's new MBA but it's in the bedroom and she's asleep. Chances are I'll forget by tomorrow so I figured I'd ask here.
My Unibody MacBook Pro (Rev A) can use the microphone in my iPhone headphones when they're plugged into the audio out port. The volume controls on the headphones also work. Is this also true for the audio out socket on the MBA?
If yes then it should be pretty easy to make a mono audio input source by hacking an old set of iPhone headphones. I'll probably just get some kind of USB audio in adapter but this could always be an option.
I am trying to find an audio optical connecter that will help me use my Tritton surround sound amp and gaming headphones on my iMac. Is there a way to do this where you can get a optical audio converter to connect to macs so that you can connect the optical cable for the amp into the imac?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe tip of my headphones broke while connected to the macbook, my computer has this tip inside the audio plug and plays sounds on the useless lineout. There is no way to remove that thing (I tried everything, including matches with a bit of superglue). The only solution I see to get the sound back to the internal speakers is to disable the lineout.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mums macbook has gone crazy! There is no sound coming from the macbook, and when I went to check if the volume was up the volume box popped up as usual but with a symbol, similar to a no entry sign. Circle with a cross through it. Then I saw a bright red light from within the audio jack itself. When I plugged in ear phones it works fine but the built in speakers are not working.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was using my 13" White Macbook (Spring 07) all day today, listening to music on headphones while working. I brought my computer over to a friend's house and attempting to line out some audio from Garage Band to speakers through the headphone jack and suddenly all audio began to have skips & spaces every second or so. I can still the hear songs but they are constantly interrupted. I tried Itunes & audio from the internet, and two different pairs of headphones I know work. Same problem every time. The strange thing is that the audio works perfectly out of the internal speakers. Has anyone had this same problem? I haven't seen anything on the web that was similar. I tried the Q-Tip/Toothpick trick suggested on a bunch of other threads. But I don't think it's an issue of the computer not adjusting to the headphone setting. Also tried to resetting the battery, but that didn't work either.
