View 5 RepliesI have something new and very weird going on, and if I didn't know better, I'd think it was a virus. I'm using a Mac G4, and system 10.4.1. For some unknown reason, no matter what I'm doing or what software I'm using, the Finder keeps rebooting itself and then ends up coming to the front, and it pops open a widow that shows my computer, an external drive I use, and the network icon. I've never seen this kind of thing happen before. It's like the computer is possessed. I'm not connected to any server or anything. I tried all the usual maintenance tricks...rebuilt permissions, used Cocktail and Preferential Treatment to fix and check things, then used Diskwarrior to rebuild the directory, and nothing has fixed the problem. It does this about every 10-20 seconds so it's practically impossible to get anything done.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLast night all my desktop icons just disappeared all of a sudden, I restarted my laptop and they came back but when I try to click and drag anything on my desktop or copy something between finder windows, they just disappear again and Finder crashes. I downloaded the newest update and installed it, which didn't fix the problem so I found a similar problem on another forum and tried doing what they recommended (which was to delete the Cache folder and some files from the library and restart the computer) After I restarted, finder started crashing every 2-3 seconds and giving me a message saying that Finder quit unexpectadly while trying to restore it's windows.
I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD, 2GHz dual core processor.

1) I can't launch Finder, the message box "Finder Unexpectedly Quits" appears repeatedly 20 to 20 seconds.
2) Finder Menu Bar is desappear, i can't get acess to any folders.
3) I can't acess the "Trash."
* Note: I create another account and in this new account the Finder / Finder Menu Bar and Trash works perfectly. But i want to try to solve my problem on my actual account.
* Note: Before this Problem appears i installed the WineSkin app, and then i recieve this kind of issues:
1) I "catch" the "Kernel Panic Box" twice. (At the moment this one is solved)
2) I was stuck on the Login Screen. (This one is solved, also)
3) Now i tried lot of solution's from this forum, no success

I am using a Mac Mini with a Realtek USB wireless dongle to connect to the internet. The software and drivers appear connected perfectly and i see the wireless utility and I can access my wireless network, which says signal strength 100%. I connect to it and it accepts the wireless key. Says connected. Then after a few seconds the connection is lost and it says 'Disconnected'. A few seconds later it connects then disconnects and this continues indefinitely but Safari never allows me to access any webpages.

My cursor keeps jumping all around. Someone said it had something to do with the wireless bluetooth app but I disabled it and I am still having the same problem. I have to hold the mouse pad firmly with my finger in order to actually move the cursor. The mouse pad is not greasy or oily as I have cleaned it several times.

It played all songs fine before but since to upgrade the songs are jumping like they would if they were a scratched CD. The songs play fine coming from my ipod and my iphone. It's driving me crazy and I cant use my itunes anymore because of it.
I have no idea why this is happening or HOW I can fix it as I am a bit of a technotard.
I turned on the MBP today (Mid-2007 Santa Rosa) and everything was going fine- until the screen started to jump! Literally the whole display bounces constantly, revealing a white line at the top of the screen (as if trying to center the screen or something). This is on the LCD- haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I just had my logic board replaced about 4 months ago for a faulty 8600GT chip- I'm so hoping it's not that.

using MacBook Pro os x mavericks / I have had this issue a few times now, I have purchased new CDs and came home to import them to my iTunes library straight away. They import perfectly fine but as soon as they're finished importing to library, I go play the album and a few of the songs skip or jump (like when you play a scratched cd in a CD player) though the cds are not scratched.
I am using the external USB super drive to import as the MacBook has no cd slot built in, I thought maybe I was bumping or moving the super drive while the disk was importing and this may be effecting songs being imported properly so I deleted the albums and imported again making sure the external super drive was not moved but there is still 1 or 2 songs playing up.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 5-year-old PowerBook G4. I remember I changed the battery about a year or two ago, because when I used to take it to classes in college, and use it unplugged, my laptop would shut off in less than an hour (more like ~30 min) when it reaches ~30%. After I got a new battery, it went back to normal, and lasted much longer. In the past couple of days, I noticed that within about 5-10 minutes of using my PB unplugged, battery goes from 100% --> ~85%, and then all of a sudden shuts down.
When I plug it back in to a power supply, and it starts back up, it starts recharging from 0%... this seems a little extreme. I haven't noticed this problem because I almost have it plugged in these days, as I usually use it at home or at work where I have a power supply available, and I use it for a few hour period at a time. Does this seem purely like a battery problem?! (ie. it's just time for a new battery...)
I just got my brand new, 13" MacBook Pro on Friday night. Friday night and Saturday morning it was plugged in to get it all setup and all my files transferred. In the afternoon, I took it off the charger and it said i was going to get 5 hours of life, I researched a bit and found out how to calibrate the battery, which I did last night and plugged it in again this morning.
I'm now in a coffee shop, first time with my MacBook on battery since calibrating it, and the time its supposed to last, is jumping wildly. Right now its says 8:55, but 2 seconds ago it was 6:08, and in the last 5 minutes its jumped as low at 5:32, and as high as 9:13, oh I lied, it just jumped to 9:49 as I was typing this.I used coconut battery and it says 2 cycles and 5850 mAh, 4 weeks old.
Why is it jumping so much? I did the calibration according to Apple's guide. Waited for it to go to go into reserve and then sleep, and then left it for 8 hours while I slept, and when it restarted this morning it said "1%" battery. I don't know what the issue is. My old white macbook jumped but usually a matter of 5-10 minutes, not hours.
Problem: Was surfing on my Mac Mini when the cursor starts acting erratically, when I try to move it, either freezing or it jumps all over the screen. I have tried repairing permissions using disk utility, resetting the 'pram', used clamXav to scan for virus. starting in safe mode to repair permissions. Don't think it is the mouse its self, used it on Macbook and it's fine.
View 5 Replies View Relatedsince the upgrade to 10.7.3 on my MacBook Air (4GB mem) I am facing the problem with the jumping cursor again. I had this a while ago when using a Logitech M510, switched then to a Magic Mouse which worked fine.
The cursor is not moving when I don't touch the mouse (I see some other people having that problem which is even more annoying) but when I move the mouse the cursor is following, then stopping, moving again etc.
Now, with 10.7.3, this problem came back, so I assume it's directly related to the upgrade. And I have it with both devices now, the Logitech and the Magic Mouse.
My opened pages keep jumping all over the screen and changing sizes while I am trying to work - what is causing this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAnybody have a clock fix that works yet? for the problem of the clock jumping 4 hours or so ahead randomly? View 6 Replies View RelatedDuring video playback (itunes, vlc...) stutters every 50 seconds or so (no exact interval) and the video currently playing pauses for a few seconds, the audio however continues on. After the short pause it skips a few frames ahead. It doesn't seem like a big problem, yet it's very annoying while trying to enjoy a movie.
Also, I'm not sure if these issues are related, but every minute or so my magic mouse jumps around the screen for multiple seconds (not only during a film, all the time...). Also very annoying, as I work with Photoshop & Illustrator, meaning I do very precise work with my mouse.
I live in japan if it makes a difference, but download through US iTunes. Starting tonight, my subscribed tv shows are downloading extremely slow. the time is jumping around crazy from ETA 2 minutes to 203hours. Rented a movie on ATV and there was no lag. Not sure what is going on.
