My cursor keeps jumping all around. Someone said it had something to do with the wireless bluetooth app but I disabled it and I am still having the same problem. I have to hold the mouse pad firmly with my finger in order to actually move the cursor. The mouse pad is not greasy or oily as I have cleaned it several times.

How can I keep my cursor from jumping around while I'm typing?

How do I reset the tracking on my mackbook pro? Also I know it's not the OS system because it was working fine until yesterday. I can even use safari because of this activity.

Problem: Was surfing on my Mac Mini when the cursor starts acting erratically, when I try to move it, either freezing or it jumps all over the screen. I have tried repairing permissions using disk utility, resetting the 'pram', used clamXav to scan for virus. starting in safe mode to repair permissions. Don't think it is the mouse its self, used it on Macbook and it's fine.
View 5 Replies View Relatedsince the upgrade to 10.7.3 on my MacBook Air (4GB mem) I am facing the problem with the jumping cursor again. I had this a while ago when using a Logitech M510, switched then to a Magic Mouse which worked fine.
The cursor is not moving when I don't touch the mouse (I see some other people having that problem which is even more annoying) but when I move the mouse the cursor is following, then stopping, moving again etc.
Now, with 10.7.3, this problem came back, so I assume it's directly related to the upgrade. And I have it with both devices now, the Logitech and the Magic Mouse.
The mouse cursor on my iMac has a weird habit of jumping around. Eg, I'll be about to close a window, and then the cursor will suddenly jump to the bottom of the screen. This happens with both my Mighty Mouse, and a Microsoft one...
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo recently my mac has decided to hide my Cursor/Pointer while typing, it doesn't really bother me much when i am browsing the web, But when i start to talk to my friends online then i have problems.
So when I'm typing to a friend the IM ( MSN ) hides the cursor so after i finished typing and press Enter then the message will send then realizing i have made a mistake or want to add a quick message on to the IM then i must have to click on the type box again because it dont keep init for some reason.
So i have looked in System Preferences and can't find nothing to turn this off.
has anybody found that while using safari the cursor tends to disappear and you need to re click to continue typing?

I am running Snow Leopard on a new MacBook Pro. I have noticed that often when I am typing, the cursor will jump to another location. So, I might be typing on a line and then suddenly, the cursor will jump to a line, usually above the line that I had been typing on.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got this new 17" powerbook two months ago. Everything seemed fine until this past weekend when I tried to do some work on it. No matter the program, Word, Quark etc., whenever i go to type in sentences or paragraphs, suddenly the cursor will jump to another area of the paragraph. There seems to be no consistency and I can't figure the cause.
I checked all the preferences and that doesn't seem to change it.
Could I have a faulty keyboard? Has anyone else heard of this and know what to do.
For the past few weeks (maybe months) I've been experiencing a problem with my spell check while typing feature. Up until this evening I could even have it checked off in Adium, but after I downloaded the MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.5 file (something someone suggested in another thread) the spelling options are all greyed out completely. I have restarted Adium a few times to try to fix it to no avail.
The checker works fine in Safari, but when I use Adium it doesn't work. I found a thread on another site that suggested moving one of the Dictionary files to the desktop, and also holding option, command, p and r down at the same time. That second tip seemed to work a while ago, but since then I can't get it to work again.
I read somewhere that the spell check was messed up because of one of the recent apple updates. I feel like I've had it in other programs too I just can't think of them at the moment.
Just tried to download pentax raw pics (2GB) using a sony usb adapter
Screen "froze"- turned off power and back on- removed usb adapter
When it powered up-screen shows the DESKTOP. Have control of cursor.
When cursor is moved to bottom left corner- screen will program icons, but programs will not open
when cursor moves up left- screen shows applications {calendar/news/weather) but i.e. cant use calculator-
cursor does not change from arrow to hand
The beach ball will not go away. It is acting as the cursor in all open programs.

I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
How can I fix my Mac jumping to Finder about every 30 seconds?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy itunes is not playing songs properly since I upgraded to itunes 10.
It played all songs fine before but since to upgrade the songs are jumping like they would if they were a scratched CD. The songs play fine coming from my ipod and my iphone. It's driving me crazy and I cant use my itunes anymore because of it.
I have no idea why this is happening or HOW I can fix it as I am a bit of a technotard.
I turned on the MBP today (Mid-2007 Santa Rosa) and everything was going fine- until the screen started to jump! Literally the whole display bounces constantly, revealing a white line at the top of the screen (as if trying to center the screen or something). This is on the LCD- haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I just had my logic board replaced about 4 months ago for a faulty 8600GT chip- I'm so hoping it's not that.

using MacBook Pro os x mavericks / I have had this issue a few times now, I have purchased new CDs and came home to import them to my iTunes library straight away. They import perfectly fine but as soon as they're finished importing to library, I go play the album and a few of the songs skip or jump (like when you play a scratched cd in a CD player) though the cds are not scratched.
I am using the external USB super drive to import as the MacBook has no cd slot built in, I thought maybe I was bumping or moving the super drive while the disk was importing and this may be effecting songs being imported properly so I deleted the albums and imported again making sure the external super drive was not moved but there is still 1 or 2 songs playing up.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 5-year-old PowerBook G4. I remember I changed the battery about a year or two ago, because when I used to take it to classes in college, and use it unplugged, my laptop would shut off in less than an hour (more like ~30 min) when it reaches ~30%. After I got a new battery, it went back to normal, and lasted much longer. In the past couple of days, I noticed that within about 5-10 minutes of using my PB unplugged, battery goes from 100% --> ~85%, and then all of a sudden shuts down.
When I plug it back in to a power supply, and it starts back up, it starts recharging from 0%... this seems a little extreme. I haven't noticed this problem because I almost have it plugged in these days, as I usually use it at home or at work where I have a power supply available, and I use it for a few hour period at a time. Does this seem purely like a battery problem?! (ie. it's just time for a new battery...)
I just got my brand new, 13" MacBook Pro on Friday night. Friday night and Saturday morning it was plugged in to get it all setup and all my files transferred. In the afternoon, I took it off the charger and it said i was going to get 5 hours of life, I researched a bit and found out how to calibrate the battery, which I did last night and plugged it in again this morning.
I'm now in a coffee shop, first time with my MacBook on battery since calibrating it, and the time its supposed to last, is jumping wildly. Right now its says 8:55, but 2 seconds ago it was 6:08, and in the last 5 minutes its jumped as low at 5:32, and as high as 9:13, oh I lied, it just jumped to 9:49 as I was typing this.I used coconut battery and it says 2 cycles and 5850 mAh, 4 weeks old.
Why is it jumping so much? I did the calibration according to Apple's guide. Waited for it to go to go into reserve and then sleep, and then left it for 8 hours while I slept, and when it restarted this morning it said "1%" battery. I don't know what the issue is. My old white macbook jumped but usually a matter of 5-10 minutes, not hours.
My opened pages keep jumping all over the screen and changing sizes while I am trying to work - what is causing this?
