MacBook Pro :: Cursor Keeps Jumping All Around?
May 24, 2012My cursor keeps jumping all around. Someone said it had something to do with the wireless bluetooth app but I disabled it and I am still having the same problem. I have to hold the mouse pad firmly with my finger in order to actually move the cursor. The mouse pad is not greasy or oily as I have cleaned it several times.

Jun 27, 2010I turned on the MBP today (Mid-2007 Santa Rosa) and everything was going fine- until the screen started to jump! Literally the whole display bounces constantly, revealing a white line at the top of the screen (as if trying to center the screen or something). This is on the LCD- haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I just had my logic board replaced about 4 months ago for a faulty 8600GT chip- I'm so hoping it's not that.

Mar 5, 2010I have a 5-year-old PowerBook G4. I remember I changed the battery about a year or two ago, because when I used to take it to classes in college, and use it unplugged, my laptop would shut off in less than an hour (more like ~30 min) when it reaches ~30%. After I got a new battery, it went back to normal, and lasted much longer. In the past couple of days, I noticed that within about 5-10 minutes of using my PB unplugged, battery goes from 100% --> ~85%, and then all of a sudden shuts down.
When I plug it back in to a power supply, and it starts back up, it starts recharging from 0%... this seems a little extreme. I haven't noticed this problem because I almost have it plugged in these days, as I usually use it at home or at work where I have a power supply available, and I use it for a few hour period at a time. Does this seem purely like a battery problem?! (ie. it's just time for a new battery...)

Jul 4, 2010I just got my brand new, 13" MacBook Pro on Friday night. Friday night and Saturday morning it was plugged in to get it all setup and all my files transferred. In the afternoon, I took it off the charger and it said i was going to get 5 hours of life, I researched a bit and found out how to calibrate the battery, which I did last night and plugged it in again this morning.
I'm now in a coffee shop, first time with my MacBook on battery since calibrating it, and the time its supposed to last, is jumping wildly. Right now its says 8:55, but 2 seconds ago it was 6:08, and in the last 5 minutes its jumped as low at 5:32, and as high as 9:13, oh I lied, it just jumped to 9:49 as I was typing this.I used coconut battery and it says 2 cycles and 5850 mAh, 4 weeks old.
Why is it jumping so much? I did the calibration according to Apple's guide. Waited for it to go to go into reserve and then sleep, and then left it for 8 hours while I slept, and when it restarted this morning it said "1%" battery. I don't know what the issue is. My old white macbook jumped but usually a matter of 5-10 minutes, not hours.
MacBook Air :: Jumping Cursor Came Back After 10.7.3 Upgrade
Feb 3, 2012since the upgrade to 10.7.3 on my MacBook Air (4GB mem) I am facing the problem with the jumping cursor again. I had this a while ago when using a Logitech M510, switched then to a Magic Mouse which worked fine.
The cursor is not moving when I don't touch the mouse (I see some other people having that problem which is even more annoying) but when I move the mouse the cursor is following, then stopping, moving again etc.
Now, with 10.7.3, this problem came back, so I assume it's directly related to the upgrade. And I have it with both devices now, the Logitech and the Magic Mouse.

Dec 21, 2010I have an late 08 unibody Mbp and a 11 mba, I have noticed the glass trackpad on the air is much closer to the glass on an iphone in the way your finger reacts to it... the least bit of moisture and your finger doesn't glide as easily. On the pro it seems to have more of a coating to allow for smoother use under these normal conditions (humidity). Has anyone else noticed this? bottom line the air trackpad almost seems more polished.

Feb 16, 2010My Macbook shuts off immediately when unplugged and will not start up unless it's plugged in. This just started last night...I was using it while it was charging and then unplugged it when it got to 100%, and it immediately shut off. Prior to this, it seemed to be charging and running fine. It also runs fine plugged in.
I did some searching and tried some of the suggestions I found...shutting down, taking the battery out, holding down the power button for 5 secs, and replacing the battery...making sure the connectors were clean, downloading battery update, etc. Nothing helped. I also read an article about how the lithium polymer batteries will just quit suddenly like that instead of running down gradually. So I'm hoping all I need is to buy a new battery. But my question is this: Since the system profiler shows the battery health is "good," does this indicate something else is the problem? Or will it still show it's good after it completely dies?

I am just now learning about these things, so apparently 1047 cycles is a good life for the battery. I just want to know that this is the only problem so I can order a battery and be done with it. Naturally, I don't want to be patient and wait.

I just replaced the stock 160gb hard drive with a 500 gb Seagate. Everything is working perfectly except for one odd issue:
While plugged in, the MacBook says it is charging normally and appears to actually be doing so. However, when I unplug it, it shows the plug icon on the battery as it does at 100% charge and says "(Not Charging)". Power management wise it also behaves as if it is plugged in. So, as you can imagine that is quite annoying as it doesn't dim / sleep when it should if left sitting and I can't see my battery % when it is unplugged. I have looked EVERYWHERE on the net to no avail. The MacBook is no longer under warranty so no dice there. I have also checked my energy settings as well as reset the SMC.

Jul 11, 2009My Magsafe charger started acting really odd today. It started with the light not working when I was charging the computer. Even tough the light didn't come on the computer still said it was charging. I unplugged it for a bit & plunged it back in. This time the light came on & it was green even though it wasn't fully charged. But now when i unplug it, the light stays on as long as its plugged into the wall. The only thing I've changed lately is I replaced the hard drive, but its been about a week and this just started happening tonight.

Jul 19, 2009I was sick of the battery life I was getting on my 15" Macbook Pro 3,1 (early 2008 model), so I went to the apple store yesterday to get a new one. I was over 400 cycles, so I had to just buy it, they wouldn't replace it for me. I expected that, so no big deal. But I wanted to treat this battery right. I got home, charged it up to 100%, let it sit at that for a few hours, and then let it drain overnight and rest at empty for a few hours. This afternoon, I plugged it back in with the intention of letting it fully charge and thus complete my battery calibration, but at around 40% charged, the cat yanked the charger cable out from my laptop. And then a little bit later, my girlfriend did it again. So, has my time been wasted here? Battery calibration is such a pain in my rear. i hate it. I use my laptop often and expect it to be available to me whenever I need it, regardless of how many other computers i own. I really don't want to deal with it again in the near future. And I may not.

(Was letting my roomates use the computer, came home one day and it started doing this.) I believe that my battery is OK, it performs between 97% and 99% consistently. When I do the battery test, all of the lights light up.
I've read through the forums and it seems a lot of people are having this problem, but their batteries are bad. What are some options/solutions to this problem? I am willing to invest money wisely into the computer to keep it running smoothly for a while.

Mar 2, 2010Firstly i have a MacBook 10.4.11 that is somewhere between 2 and 3 years old. I have had no problems with the Mac up until yesterday. Yesterday i was charging my Mac and everything was fine but i noticed that the MagSafe Adapter was lit up Green, even when unplugged from my Mac. I shrugged it off until this morning when i realised that when i unplug my adapter the Mac just turns off and won't turn back on until i plug the adapter back in. I have seen different threads about it being a battery problem or a charger problem but i am not sure where to start as most of the threads say that their Battery Icon on the Mac screen has a black "X" through it. Mine just has the Forks in the battery icon and where it would have a Time or % of what is left in the Battery, it just has a (Calculating...) and when i click to see how much it has charged, it says 0%
I also downloaded Coconut Battery and here is what it says:
