View 7 RepliesHere's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
This is the video:

Its not on a big site site like Youtube so I can't use [URL] or [URL] because they don't work. any free program that allows me to save this video on a .mov or .mp4 format? (not flv)
I'm look for a free app that will download youtude video or any other flash video. I know I can do this with safari but looking for another option.

I did have a look this morning & there was a suggestion about something I think was called speeddownloader which I looked for but couldn't see it. I am new to MAC's. This problem happens on both safari & Firefox so you can imagine my frustration! My system is 1 t.b. 21.5 inch screen 4gb memory Mac OS X Version 10.6.4.

I am looking for a program to download websites for later offline viewing. I am spending tomorrow with my grandmother and she doesn't have the internets but I'd like to download some free programming manuals for later viewing. Unfortunately they don't have a PDF. Internet Explorer for Mac had a really nice feature where you could download a site for later offline viewing. I haven't seen a comparable feature in any other browser.

I know there is dream weaver out there but I am not that well versed in using yet. I need something that is like Iweb 09 but will work better. It appears that when you create something in Iweb 09 and let's say it's [URL] it will make the home page this: [URL]
It seems like iweb adds on the extra extentension on the end. I also notice that Iweb when you save the program to a server the site takes forever to load and I think it has something to do with the size of the file or site. not sure.
What I like about Iweb is the drag and drop feature with text box and so on. Is there a program out there where I am not paying a monthly service charge to use a program that is loaded on a server? I understand I have hosting fees by the way.
So any programs out there that are mac friendly and has a user friendly interface?
