I'm a little worried, I visited a website yesterday that immediately redirected me and downloaded some file "movie.dmg." When the download finished installer opened automatically. I don't think anything actually installed. I just closed the installer window and deleted the dmg file.
View 24 RepliesApple Mail keeps re-downloading all Gmail messages, even those that I've already deleted. If I go to the preferences/advance, it is simply not clear to me which option to choose. What I would like is to have a syncronized, up-to date view at all times. If I delete something here, I would like it to be deleted from the server as well.

When I try to download something from download.com or other websites, it just goes to a blank page and the download never happen, I open the download tab and saw it was blank.
this really frustrating, its the same on Safari and mozilla on my Mac.
Here's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins� To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
I have some links that I need to download but the stupid site keeps telling me that I am already downloading from them! I checked their FAQ section but they gave me answers to question if I were a registered user of Megashares.

I did have a look this morning & there was a suggestion about something I think was called speeddownloader which I looked for but couldn't see it. I am new to MAC's. I am spending tomorrow with my grandmother and she doesn't have the internets but I'd like to download some free programming manuals for later viewing. Unfortunately they don't have a PDF. Internet Explorer for Mac had a really nice feature where you could download a site for later offline viewing. I haven't seen a comparable feature in any other browser.

I went to www.itunes.com as it told me to and I went to the downloads page. Usually you enter your email and click the download button. My problem is there is is no download button or email box! I need to download the latest iTunes and I can't. I did a software update, but it does include iTunes I tried it on Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, all coming up with the same thing. A suspicious popup came up on Firefox, but as soon as I clicked the red X to close it, another message popped up and asked if I was sure I wanted to continue closing the window. The options were "ok" to continue, or "cancel" to stop. I was in such a hurry I didn't see what the popup was for, but this was the first time I've been prompted to click another option to close the window, so I am suspicious of what it could possibly be. I clicked cancel and the window immediately closed. I have never had a questionable popup such as this in the two years I've had my Mac, so I was curious as to whether I should be concerned. I've restarted Firefox and deleted all browsing history/cookies. Is it possible this is malware or a virus?

I am not able to download from my bank website or other websites that my children send me with videos on them of the family. Went to another server & accessed my bank account to get an address to forward the email to. Went back to my mail & found that the suspected phishing email had vanished. Since then I am getting nearly 200 e mails a week that are marked undeliverable. The e mails are almost always addressed to weird overseas addresses but are probably bogus anyway. I don't know how this happened or how to fix it. I can't even check my e mail on my iPhone because I'll be deleting mail from Mail Delivery System for ever. Is there ANYTHING I can do?
