Jan 10, 2010I've had an iMac for 8 months now, and I have recently bought a new router as my previous one died after 3 years of service and so I got a new one from BT (I'm in the UK). The new router works with 3 laptops, an iPhone, and two desktop PCs - but not with my iMac.
It intermittently picks up the signal and when it does finally connect, says the router is not connected to the internet - despite my laptop and iPhone being on the same desk and connecting.

Oct 30, 2009I just "upgraded" yesterday from a Power Mac G4 to a 17" MacPro. Among other adjustment problems, I can't open PDF files. The message I get is "You can't open the application Adobe Reader because it is not supported on this kind of Mac."
I've tried downloading the latest version of Adoobe Reader, an although it seems to download, I can't find it.
How do I deal with PDF files on a MacPro?

Jan 6, 2010I've been out of the loop for a couple of years and I'm thinking it might be time to consider an upgrade. I am presently using OSX 10.4.11 (Tiger?) on an iMac 4,1. Can anyone advise if the latest version is worth it? I have no idea how many versions there have been between 10.4 and the newest. I have not visited the Apple site to price it nor read the reviews. I have always valued the opinions of you people here.

But the latest update (and flash as well) with firefox well now the browser if very laggy in responsiveness. May 21, 2010I noticed that recently that all decent sized apps launched slower than before. I got the spinning color wheel for a while before I can use the app. The spinning beach ball also reveals itself when switching modes within certain apps. Might this be due to my hard drive became much fragmented? My OS is latest version of Snow Leopard. All the posts on the Internet says that with modern OS X, I would not need to worry about defragmenting the hard drive. Do I have an option of defragmenting my hard drive if I wanted to?

MacBook Pro :: 17" Latest Version Won't Turn On?
May 29, 2012I have a 17" UniBody MacBook Pro. As far as I'm aware it's the newest version. It has 8 GB of Ram and the Intel Core i7 in it.
When I attempt to turn the machine on- nothing at all happens. If I plug the MagSafe into it, I get no light or anything on the connector. Also, the battery status indicator on the left side seems entirely dead too.
Hopefully this is a simple fix, but I have a pretty bad feeling about this. It is still under warranty, but I use this MacBook in production as a DJ, and I rely heavily on it for my Midi Controller when I do a gig. (I have a few coming up really soon).
