Sep 8, 2014I downloaded the security update today, now safari gives me a failed to open everytime I try to log into my company's website or my remote access email......both are .org websites. Have gone to the network and disabled the firewall and no proxies are being used.

Apr 30, 2012After clicking on 'get mail' the download bar shows activity but no mail is downloaded to the inbox. Checked to see if for some reason mail is being downloaded to another box but not so.I know that mail is being sent because I can receive it on my iphone under same email address.Email was working ok until yesterday when this started happening. Not sure what to check or how to correct.

Mail: [<MailApp 0x7fd6a9e009a0> setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key newMailSound. The Mail Applescript property "new mail sound" appears not to be recognized correctly. I do not have any Mail plugins. Several additional sounds have been added to the system sound set. Mail reports no problems using them.Â
Under Snow Leopard, I used the same Applescripts (fired off by iCal) which turned on/off Mail's New Mail Sound depending on the time of day, i.e. I set the new mail sound to be "Silent Alert" in the evening and restored it to my default new mail alert in the morning. Any guidance as to what might be wrong and how to solve this problem would be very welcome. Â

I have a pretty "clean" Macbook Air - not much on it so can't imagine I'm anywhere close to not having available space.

My MAIL isn't showing all the messages that are downloaded from the mail server (Virgin media). I just found out, because friends have asked about their e-mails and my answers. I've never seen those e-mails, but they are no longer on the server (i.e. Virgin media). No RULES etc. have been applied in MAIL and this is a very serious and frustrating issue.

now after i reinstalled SL after the stuck on logo problem my mac was fine.3 weeks later which is now it started to lag,slow,unresponsive.So i tried repairing disk utility and FAILED then i tried reinstalling osx FAILEDthen i had to delete my whole harddrive :*( and reformated the harddrive.FAILED AGAIN.calling apple is a no because i already called alot before so now they want to charge.So did i reformat wrong? something?
OS X Mavericks :: How To Keep Emails In Apple Mail After They Have Been Downloaded From Exchange Server
Sep 12, 2014I have an urgent issue with my work email. I have used Apple Mail to read and store my work email right off my work Exchange server - without any problem. All was fine, and for what seems a very long time, I happily used both my win 7 laptop at work and my 2 Apple computers at home and during travel as well as my iPhone - anywhere. Â
However, now, there is a new policy at work where all email older than 3 months (sigh!!) has been removed to an "online archive" of the "emc SourceOne" - which is a non-crossplattform service - and not accessible from other than a windows PC with supported browser (not including SafarI). (Windows revenge) I have lost all access to these on my iPhone, which is a shame - not Apples fault, though. This is not about blaming Apple. However, I still have all my "older than 3 months" email in theory safely kept on both of my Apple computers - presumably safely stored in Apple Mail.Â
Here is my question: I have not dared to connect either of these imacs / mbas to Internet - at all - in fear of losing my precoius work emails. I have feared that the exchange server will kill all these "older than 3 months" email kept there - as soon as it gets a chance to do so.Â
1. Can I safely connect Apple Mail to internet without losing my already downloaded exchange emails?
2. If not - how should I proeceed to get these files safely transferred to my iCloud email?Â

I am unable to reinstall the default OS (Mountain Lion) because I have yet to be able to partition the HDD correctly. The error I keep getting is:Â Partition failed with the error: Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed.At this point, the default Macintosh HD isn't showing, so it must of been erased/deleted.Â

Intel Mac :: Only Part Of Email Downloaded In Apple Mail (IMAP Enabled)
Jun 20, 2012I am currently using Apple Mail on Lion with IMAP enabled for emails. A couple of times I have had only part of an email downloaded. The full email is viewable on the iPhone and through a web browser. Is there anyway to resync an email to have it finish loading the message and attachments? I have tried to Sync the full Apple Mail program but the email did not change. I am assuming this problem is occurring when the internet loses the connection.

Software :: Downloaded File Disappears / Unable To Find Downloaded Files
Apr 28, 2010About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.

Software :: Apple Mail Program Doesn't Send Mail Through Optimum Mail
Aug 29, 2009I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Suddenly Finding That Mail Is Not Emptying The Draft Box After Mail Is Sending Mail?

The mail shows up in the sent box, but it never get's deleted from the draft box until I resend it. This is happening on both my MBP and iMac. Both machines connect to iCloud for mail.

OS X :: Install From 10.2 To 10.4 Failed?
May 22, 2010Not sure if you can help on this or not. I bought an ibook g3 that was running 10.2 and went ahead and got 10.4 discs for it. I went ahead and began the install.I got to disc 2 and it messed up. Now each time I boot the ibook it wants disc 2, when I give it disc 2, it gets to disc 3 and messes up again and can't get passed it. Is there any way I can completely restart the install process or roll back to 10.2?

May 13, 2009I tried downloading the Mac OS X update from the update utility, and that failed. Then I went straight to apple and downloaded it from their website and it took about an hour--and I have a fast internet service! Once it finished downloading, I started the installing process. It installed, and then said it had to restart. I had to hard boot it THREE times because it would just freeze on the blue screen of death. Then it restarted on it's own three more times. Now FINALLY, I'm back up and running, but I've had some weird error messages and my Macbook Pro seems to be acting weird. Any other "success, or should I say fail" stories?

Dec 25, 2009I was making my first cloned HDD backup since upgrading to 10.6. I plugged in my external HDD and asked Superduper to do a smart update, but after coming back 4 hours later, I have found that the backup failed, and my 500GB is full! Now, I have inspected my hard drive and found that the operating system is intact and all of my current files are here but how did my HDD fill up, and where are these excess files? I am sure that Superduper somehow failed to copy the files to my external HDD and somehow placed them on my Macbook's HDD... but how do I find them?

May 10, 2012Was running Lion on a Macbook mid 2007, when the 160GB HDD failed. Ordered a new Momentus 250 gigger reinstalled Leopard to 10.6.8, pulled the last backup off of my external drive and have everything back, but can not re-install Lion. My iTunes wont load, I have a bunch of icons from the old Lion OS with the circle with the line on them.

Aug 15, 2010I've recently set up a new home network. I keep getting the following error, which is my computer trying to connect to an IP address from my former network (an external hard drive that was set up as a shared server): Connection failed
The server "192.168.1.66" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again. The only button option is "OK." The error pops up repeatedly. The external drive does not appear in my list of shared servers. Since this IP address is no longer valid and never will be again, how can I make this error go away?
OS X :: Won't Boot After Failed Combo Update?
Dec 2, 2010Have a G4 desktop running 10.3.5 that I tried to combo update to 10.3.9. The update was stuck at 30% for a long long time. I just figured it might take awhile and took a nap. I awoke and there was an error message that the update could not be completed. It said to try the update again by downloading it and then opening the package manually. So I was going to do that but a bit later the computer froze up and I had to force shutdown.
Upon booting the screen didn't boot all the way; only partially and then screen goes black. I ran Disk Utility from Install Disk to try to Repair the hard drive. It said keys were out of order. Later it said repair couldn't be completed because of an error.
I am running the Mac now from a Firewire drive with 10.3.2. I want to update the Firewire drive to 10.3.9 and want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen.

Nov 3, 2006My 13" Macbook DVD drive suddenly failed. I put in a movie DVD, the disk did not mount, the drive ejected it claiming the media was not supported. I put it back in, the drive ejected it, and thereafter continuously tried to eject a non existing disk. It does this every few seconds for several minutes before giving up. Opening disk utilities starts it up again as does waking from sleep or rebooting. resetting p-ram did not help. A disc cannot be loaded (the slot is blocked). Here in Japan, repairs likely to take 2-4 weeks....anything else I can try before biting the bullet? Macbook is 3 months old. Nothing else is faulty (except some uneven "hot" spots on the display).

Jan 30, 2008I'm working on a friend's MPB and when ever I try to connect to it from mine (I created the network from my MPB which is almost identical to his), His MPB shows up in finder, but it always says "Connecting..." and then "Connection Failed". Sharing is enabled on his MPB and the firewall is disabled. I have been through everything that I can think of to try and fix this, short of re-installing Leopard. His MBP came with Leopard pre-installed, so there is no need to worry about the upgrade messing things up. I have checked from a MacBook and that one cannot connect either, but both connect to mine with no problems.

Dec 23, 2008I'm installing 10.5.6 on the family MacBook (white) and it was running 10.5.4 previously, yet hanged when I was updating everything (there was a few updates) so I had to force power off. The Mac says it is running 10.5.6, but I wanted to apply the combo update to be safe. However, it fails when installing (it doesn't get to the stage where it reboots, still in OS X at this stage). It says "The installer could not install some files in "/". Also, repairing Disk Permissions failed too. Prior to the update, everything was working fine - I'm usually full of ideas, but when it is your Mac that is playing up I'm very keen to hear what others have to say.

Jun 1, 2009I'm installing Windows 7 64-BIT on Boot Camp, I selected an unused partition, selected the option "Create a second partition for windows", set it's space to 131GB, inserted my DVD, which boot camp accepted, restarted, loading the windows installer for me automatically, I selected that boot camp partition, I clicked Format on it, after that was done, I click next, and it says "Windows is unable to install on the selected drive" error 0x...... (can't error code). The hard drive I am installing it on will be in slot 2 (it should be, I only have two hard drives).
