Applications :: Stop Downloading All Mails Again?
Feb 15, 2010I need some help with the mail program on my MBP. For some reason this morning it has decided to keep getting the same emails over and over again and adding them as new. So now I am up to 3000 new emails even though I have already read and deleted them before. Every time I click for it to check for new mail it just downloads the old ones three and four times. How can I get it to stop downloading them again?

Before screwing things up, when I clicked on a file to download, a pop-up box would appear asking me if I wanted to open the file and unzip it or save it.Now, when I click on a file to download, it automatically starts downloading and does not unzip it.Does anyone know what I screwed up?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Stop An App From Downloading On Mac Pro?
Feb 3, 2012i went and opened the app store application on my mac pro. i saw the app for downloading Lion 10.7.3. at present i have Lion 10.7.2. so i figured, well, i already purchased Lion, so this upgrade should be free - and i clicked install. it asked for my apple id and password. i entered it - and it began to download Lion 10.7.3.
only then i saw the price tag on the side and thought to myself, "$&#%, what if i'm being charged for this?" so i went and did my "softward update" check. low and behold, waiting for me is 10.7.3.
so here's where i'm at. i have 10.7.3. downloading as an app (potentially i'm PAYING for it!), and i have it "paused" right now. i want to simply install 10.7.3 as an update, which i KNOW IS FREE. but i can't seem to delete the download that's paused right now (which I might be PAYING for).

Whenever I click to download the proceeding episodes from the cloud, it downloads for a second and then stops. The only thing that I figured could be the issue is lack of space. I've always used Mail and I like it. I have three addresses, one of the provider, the other two belongs to my personal domain. They've always worked fine.
Since two months they suddenly stopped to send e-mails. The error says there's a problem with smtp server. I tried to change smtp settings, I've edited mail settings, tried to set up another account and tried to download another app for mail: always the same problem. My mother, that has a mac too and an e-mail account with our provider, doesn't have any problem. So I tried to copy those settings on my MacBook Pro.. nothing.

Apr 22, 2012Since I planned to upgrade the stock disk on my macbook pro I created a USB stick backup of the Lion OS using Lion recovery disk assistant. It built a bootable copy of my Lion OS. I replaced the drive, booted from the USB stick Lion, formatted the new drive with disk utility with one OSX partition, and bunch of Linux partitions for the planned dual/triple/etc. boot. I then used the recovery disk menu to reinstall OSX on the new disk. It took off and started the download just like while booting with R key or from the recovery partition AGAIN!. This is a 2 hour proposition and is totally ridiculous. I need to be able to reinstall without downloading Lion every time. how to stop this new Apple invention from doing this download?

I've just downloaded an album, and it ended up in my Downloads folder, so I moved it to the desktop, then played one of the songs in the album. s soon as I played the song, it opened up in iTunes and then automatically added the song to the music library. I don't want it to do that, I've spent the last couple of hours sorting out my library, adding album artwork, name changes etc and the last thing I need is things getting automatically added to the music library and cluttering and messing things up.
