OS X :: Start Up Disk To Mac Os Or Downloading A Full Free Copy Of Bootcamp?
Dec 10, 2009
Im having problems getting back from my windows partition to the original leopard os. Im using a imac that came with the os already installed and after reinstalling windows to format it I no longer have bootcamp. Is there a way of changing the start up disk to the mac os or downloading a full free copy of bootcamp?

My air is saying my start up disk is full. How do I delete files from it? Is there a specific location I'm supposed to delete from, or is it just general files from everywhere--email, etc.

My iMac does not start up as usual. I now get a ' start up disk is full. You need to make space available on your start up disk by deleting files' message. Â I am able to key my log on password however I just get the purple galaxy screen with no desktop.Â
If I try to use the keyboard I get a tone when pressing the keys. Â
Has worked perfectly well up until I got this dusk full message. Â

iBook G4 1.33
OS 10.5.8
1.5 GB of ram
40 gig hard driveÂ
I get a message that says that the disk is almost full. In disk utility, it states that 36 out of 37 gb of hard drive space has been used. However when I open the finder window after clicking on the hard drive (the first level showing applications, library, system, users), it only adds up to about 23 gb of space being used once I select calculate all sizes. It doesn't show me the other 13 gigabites that would add up to 36. I don't have the 10.5 CD's since I bought this off of ebay preloaded with the os.Â
I've already repaired drive holding the shift key upon startup. I've ran cocktail pilot mode to run scripts, repair permissions, empty cache, etc...I turned on invisible items using cocktail to see if I can find the extra gigabites to no avail.Â
It is not connected to the USB external drive. File Vault is off.Â

I am getting a message that my startup disk is almost full. My HDD is roughly 500GB and 327GB are free. Doesn't make much sense to me. Something strange in one of the latest updates? Is there some setting I need to change in order to open up more memory for system files?

I ran SuperDuper last night and the backup failed with an unknown error. After, Spotlight didn't find files. I rebooted and at the login screen was given the error message 'backup disc full, delete some files' - problem is, OS X won't boot beyond the starfield screen, so there's no way of deleting files or running the system. I took the drive out and put it in a USB caddy on another machine and ran Disk Utility - it said repairs were needed, so I did this. However, putting it back into the MBP nothing has changed, it still won't boot and insists the disc is full - there is over 180GB free! (I can see this when I mount it on another machine.)

At work I am using a Mac os 10.3.9 and I have been getting a message telling me that the start up disk is full. Usually when I delete messages from the mailbox it gives me most of my memory back, but this time it didn't. I called my server and they deleted the messages from there, but that didn't do anything either. I have about 88 MB in my memory. Does anyone know what I can do to gain the memory back? I have went and repaired permissions, but that didn't do anything for it. I am not very computer literate and right now I am at home and do not have access to the computer.

Okay, so my iMac has been slowing down recently and I have gotten the pop-up saying the start up disk is full. When I got this, I went through and deleted a lot of things and moved things onto my external hard-drive. I can't remember how much space it got me, but it only lasted a few days. The same pop-up came up and I was confused because I hadn't really downloaded anything or done anything to use that space. Okay, so I delete more stuff. This second time I deleted enough (my whole downloads folder I forgot about) to get 15GB of space back. That was just a few days ago. Today, I got the same pop-up and had only 1GB of space left. I haven't downloaded ANYTHING especially 14GB worth at least for me to run out of space again.

I keep getting a message that the start up disk is full on my macbook. I can't upload any more pictures or videos. I've only had my macbook for about three months and it says that there is only 10GB of 130GB memory left. I haven't got that much stored on it, maybe a few videos and 3,000 photos. I can't believe the macintosh disk is full. I have installed the new operating system, so could it be that?Â

Bought this iMac not quite a year ago. I had very few files - some pictures and music mostly. Tried to update ANYTHING and kept receiving "start up disk is almost full". Burned pictures to disc and deleted them. Also, accidentally deleted all music as well. I am still receiving the error message. I called Apple and removing media files was their suggestion as well. I have no idea what to do next - I have no "tech savvy" Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)

I got an enormous external hard drive and it worked fine for a week or two, but now I am getting "start up disk is full" again-which is impossible-but obviously I am doing something wrong. This is so incredibly frustrating. I cannot even download new photos! If it can't be resolved, my new found love of Apple Macbook may return to reliable PC!!

My G4 powerbook has been saying recently that the start up disk is full, so i tried to empty some stuff off it. But not long after this when i tried booting it up the normal happens at first ie the t'ing' start up sound and the apple sign with the little timer going round but it does nothing else, it just carries on going round. I have tried re setting it and looked on help sites like this to try and override it etc but nothing seems to work!
