MacBook Pro :: Head Phone Port Does Not Seem To Be Working?
May 5, 2012I have been able to plug in small speakers and headphones in the past into the port on the left of my laptop. I just tried to plug in to my new receiver for the first time in months and, nothing... So I have tried my headphones and mini speakers - still nothing. I'm pretty certain it's the port. Or could it be software thing? Please help, I finally got my projector working and now I have wimpy sound!
P.S. I recently updated to Lion, in case that is significant.

Jan 11, 2011I installed MS messenger 8.0 on my MacBook and the only problem so far is audio.
When I make a call to one of my contact's computer using my internal microphone and internal speakers everything is fine.
If I switch to my bluetooth headset in System Preferences and retry the call I can not hear them and they can not hear me.
Using the bluetooth headset for Skype calls works fine.
Is this a messenger issue or ??????

Dec 12, 2010I already use and love Google Voice, and I'm trying to figure out if it's feasible to consider using Google Voice to replace my home phone service.
What I'd need of to be able to pull this off would hardware replacement for my current home phone that I could connect to my computer that would ring when I receive a call on my Google Voice number, and that would display my GV caller ID when I dial out with it.
Something like this seems to be right up the ally of what I'm looking for (I think).

Aug 5, 2009I have a new 2.13/SSD Air which has been awesome with no lines and fast enough for me to do all my work. Since this is my first Mac (coming from the PC world), I am still getting used to how OS X works. I really like the way OS X installs apps - so simple and transparent compared to Windows. One thing that has been bugging me is whenever I do something like install apps, eject disks or dismount apps, there is "uncoiling spring" like sound coming from the machine. The sound reminds of a hard drive disk head parking when the disk stops spinning. Since I have the SSD, I expect things to be completely silent all the time. Is this an OSX sound or do I have a bad SSD?

When I got to my supervisor's iMac, I discovered someone had been in to service the memory compartment at least once before. Only this person must have used a screwdriver that was too big to begin with and then cranked the central screw on the cover plate and stripped the head of the screw in the process. So now I cannot get this screw loosened. I obviously don't want to bend or damage anything. What would be a viable solution besides taking it in to a service tech?

OS X :: No Video Chat IMac 10.5.8 But Video Chat Ok FW10.4.11?
May 11, 2010My iMac C2Duo 20" gets error messages when attempting a Video Chat in 10.5.8 with iChat 4.0.8. If I boot up from FW drive using 10.4.11 everything works.
When I initiate a Video Chat, after a while I get a pop up "There was a communication error during your chat. (recipient) cancelled the connection."
When I ACCEPT a Video Chat invite, I get a pop up "There was a communication error during your chat. Did not receive a response from (initiator)."
I should mention that there is also a networking problem in 10.5.8 that disappears if I boot up from the FW drive with 10.4.11. The Internet Sharing will randomly stop working for no apparent reason. I'll be connected to interenet using iPhone 3GS or old iBook G4 running 10.5.8 and suddenly I'm "no longer connected to the internet". Sometimes stopping and restarting Internet Sharing solves it for a while, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it will work for days, other times for minutes or quit overnight.
Connecting Mac To Phone For Fax / Phone
Apr 24, 2012I'd like to use my mac (Imac and Macmini) for sending/receiving faxes and perhaps for CPI (computer phone integration).I have obtained a USRobotics usb modem. The question I have is do I need to connect that modem to the same connection (using a splitter) to where my telephone handset is ?If I connect this usb modem from the macmini to the phone line (not where the handset is), can I then use the Imac to connect to the phone for fax/cpi|? It is all the same phone line and on the same wifi.

Sep 9, 2009now and again my western digital 1Tb external hardrive will pop up and it will let me access it but then it will just go off saying that i did not eject it properly. i have not ejected it as all of my work is on there that i work from. ive tried taking it out and waiting for abit and putting it back in ive tried restarting the mac but nothing comes up. ive tried seeing if it has detected the hardrive by going to ABOUT MY MAC - MORE INFO an then USB when i do this it does not load up to show me the infomation so i have to force quit it. ive tried my hardrive in lots of other computers an it works like a dream in everyone of them.
