View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro with retina display that was purchased in 2012 and I am running Mavericks. I have been trying to mirror my mac to my apple tv but the the airplay icon will not display on the menu bar. I have tried turning airplay on and off on the apple tv without success. Under the display settings in system preferences it says No Devices Detected.I have already tried all the suggestions in the support pages to no avail.

Ever since updating to Yosemite, I have noticed an odd behavior from the menu bar. When I switch between apps, the menu bar doesn't always change. Like right now, the menu bar says "System Preferences..." and shows all the menus for System Preferences, but when I select a menu, the proper one drops down. how I can get my menu bar to display the proper menus?Â

Since the installation of Yosemite, Mail context menus no longer work. Control-clicking on a hyperlink in a mail messages opens a context menu containing these items:
Selecting any of the first 3 has no effect. Just clicking on the hyperlink will switch to the browser (Safari) and open the link. Clicking on "Services" does display a list of Services, and "Open URL in Firefox" at least seems to work. However, "Open URLs in Safari Tabs" does not. This seems to indicate a possible disconnect between Mail and Safari in particular. Â

I have recently tried out the new Yosemite feature "dark menu bar and Dock" using a side add-on called Lights Out and thought it was cool, but was not of any better use so I removed the add-on and went back into "general settings" and unchecked the "dark menu bar and Dock" box. The problem lies in that it won't stay unchecked leaving my system in the dark. So my search the light has begun. I have only tried restarting my system as that is the only thing that I can think of to resolve the issue, but it did not work since the "use dark menu bar and Dock" is still checked and won't stay uncheck after closing the "system preferences" window.Â
to why it is staying checked and how to force it to go back to light menu bar mode? It's only an inconvenience, but one that should not be.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a Mac Pro 2013. It runs Yosemite 10.10.1. I have a Panasonic 4K TV connected to it, running at 3840 x 2025 @ 24 Hz. This Panasonic does not display the left and right inch or so of the screen image.Â
Looking at this, the Mac Pro 2013 version of a 4K image is 4096 x 2160 pixels, which is 256 pixels wider than this Panasonic screen and might just account for the problem I am seeing. How can I reduce the output on the Mac so that it nicely fits onto the pixels of the Panasonic screen? After all this used to happen very easily with my 1920 x 1080 previous monitor.

Where is the system-level setting to ensure that, even when I maximize an application, the menu bar is still visible. I don't like having to move the mouse to see the battery life, wifi signal, date etc. I'm on Yosemite, if it matters. To be clear, I'm not looking for a workaround that will provide these various bits of information elsewhere. I want to know how to mandate the menu bar stay visible.

When opening a Mail message with any sort of scripting, many of the menu items remain greyed out, including the one that's important to me, 'Save Attachments...'.Â
If I manually open the same message, the menu items are enabled.Â
Try this script, by resetting the mailbox name to one of your own mailboxes, and you'll see what I mean.Â

Coming from a Windows background, when you have dual displays, and you have an application open, you have a menu bar on the same screen that the application is open on. Is this possible in OSX?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm running a 2 GHz Core 2 Duo iMac.Anyway, when I log in the osx menu bar doesnt always show. When this happens clicking anywhere in the screen or running an app prompts it to show up and then all is OK again.Ive only noticed this happen since getting a magic mouse a couple of weeks ago. Before this I had the wireless mighty mouse. Could it be related?
View 12 Replies View Related am using Mac G5 (Mac OS X 10.4) and i have connected dual monitors to it. Now when i open few applications like Adobe Indesign cs3, Illustrator cs3 the application opens in primary display and when i drag the image or picture to the secondary display the menu bars on the top remains in the primary display.
So how can i move/detatch the menu panel? and move it to the secondary display.
I have a 4GB ipod. It has all my music and the display lights up but there is no menu to read. When I press the wheel I can hear my tunes but can't navigate from a menu. I tried pressing the wheel and menu buttons to reset and nothing changed. What should I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up one of the new MacBook Pros with Retina display. I have it attached to a new Thunderbolt display. I used the migration assistant to transfer the files from an older MacBook Pro that was running the latest version of Lion. Once the user files, settings, apps, etc. were transferred, I rebooted and then logged in as the "transferred" user. At first the icon for the display settings appeared in the menu bar next to things like network settings, battery, volume, etc. but then it disappeared and I can't find any way to get it back. It is no longer a check box in the display settings within System Preferences.Â
Is this a function of the new MacBook Pro or a function of Lion. The other office computer, a 24" iMac, that was also upgreaded to Lion still has the check box. This is kind of important since this MacBook Pro is used on the road with LCD projectors as well as the Thunderbolt display and also just with the built in Retina display.Â

Today I updated my software to the newest version, the 10.7.4 version. Now when I am any application and not on the desktop my menu bar on the top of the screen that says File, Edit, View, Etc. keeps going away. I would like it to stay without me having to mouse over it like it used to do before I updated the software. Is there a place in the settings that can change it to stay or is this how it is going to be?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFirefox does not display bookmarks in the menu. I does not unless I open manage bookmarks. Here are 2 images explaining it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with Bookmarks. In the Folders I have numerous bookmarks under each Folder. I want to be able to display these bookmarks as a drop down menu under the Folder name. That would allow me to quickly access the bookmark I want. But when I click on the Folder name I do not get a drop down menu. Instead, the bookmarks are displayed as pages on the right hand side of the screen, and I have to scroll through all of them to get to the one I want. I am sure there is a simple way to correct this but I have not ben able to find it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWith the new MBP-R, I find that I am changing display settings, depending on the program I am using. Is there an option to have the display settings on the menu bar (I can't find it) or a short cut key, or a 3rd party program that does that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedInstalled an update for WePrint Server APP which popped up onscreen. Downloaded update, installer program loaded, selected drive, and install was successful. Closed the install program window (Safari open in background along with other programs running in dock, but not on screen), but the Installer menu bar remained on the top of the screen. Lost the OSX Lion Status / menu bar, the Apple icon, time, user, etc. Was able to use Safari, but not without hesitation.
The Safari menu bar at the top of the screen never appeared while in Safari, the Install Program menu did not disappear, even thought there was no evidence that the program was still running. No icon in dock, no hidden screen page or window. Closed all the running programs in the docks, and checked Force Quit, (ctrl+alt+esc) and no installer program remained. Unable to shut off or restart the computer without using the on / off button on the back of the intel mac monitor. Once rebooted all seems well.
