I have a 4GB ipod. It has all my music and the display lights up but there is no menu to read. When I press the wheel I can hear my tunes but can't navigate from a menu. I tried pressing the wheel and menu buttons to reset and nothing changed. What should I do?
I have a macbook pro with retina display that was purchased in 2012 and I am running Mavericks. I have been trying to mirror my mac to my apple tv but the the airplay icon will not display on the menu bar. I have tried turning airplay on and off on the apple tv without success. Under the display settings in system preferences it says No Devices Detected.I have already tried all the suggestions in the support pages to no avail.

Can I turn off the album art display on my iPod WITHOUT synching my iPod with iTunes? Just installed iTunes 8.0.1; using photo iPod (20 GB). I liked the previous display that told me the length of the song. When I connect my iPod to iTunes, the box "Display album artwork on iPod" is NOT checked. Every answer I see on other forums says uncheck the box and then sync. I don't want to sync (I'd have to recreate most of my playlists).
Coming from a Windows background, when you have dual displays, and you have an application open, you have a menu bar on the same screen that the application is open on. Is this possible in OSX?
Im running a 2 GHz Core 2 Duo iMac.Anyway, when I log in the osx menu bar doesnt always show. When this happens clicking anywhere in the screen or running an app prompts it to show up and then all is OK again.Ive only noticed this happen since getting a magic mouse a couple of weeks ago. Before this I had the wireless mighty mouse. Could it be related?
am using Mac G5 (Mac OS X 10.4) and i have connected dual monitors to it. Now when i open few applications like Adobe Indesign cs3, Illustrator cs3 the application opens in primary display and when i drag the image or picture to the secondary display the menu bars on the top remains in the primary display.
So how can i move/detatch the menu panel? and move it to the secondary display.
I'm setting up one of the new MacBook Pros with Retina display. I have it attached to a new Thunderbolt display. I used the migration assistant to transfer the files from an older MacBook Pro that was running the latest version of Lion. Once the user files, settings, apps, etc. were transferred, I rebooted and then logged in as the "transferred" user. At first the icon for the display settings appeared in the menu bar next to things like network settings, battery, volume, etc. but then it disappeared and I can't find any way to get it back. It is no longer a check box in the display settings within System Preferences.
Is this a function of the new MacBook Pro or a function of Lion. The other office computer, a 24" iMac, that was also upgreaded to Lion still has the check box. This is kind of important since this MacBook Pro is used on the road with LCD projectors as well as the Thunderbolt display and also just with the built in Retina display.

When I'm logged in as root I notice the fast user switching menu doesn't display the short or full name, just a blank space. In my regular account, it does. Is this normal?
I am having trouble with Bookmarks. In the Folders I have numerous bookmarks under each Folder. I want to be able to display these bookmarks as a drop down menu under the Folder name. That would allow me to quickly access the bookmark I want. But when I click on the Folder name I do not get a drop down menu. Instead, the bookmarks are displayed as pages on the right hand side of the screen, and I have to scroll through all of them to get to the one I want. I am sure there is a simple way to correct this but I have not ben able to find it.
With the new MBP-R, I find that I am changing display settings, depending on the program I am using. Is there an option to have the display settings on the menu bar (I can't find it) or a short cut key, or a 3rd party program that does that?

Other than opening Displays System Preferences panel, is there a way to change resolution settings on a MacBook Pro? I have a new MBP with a Retina screen and I'd like to be able to more quickly switch display settings.

I have an old macbook that has all my songs on, as well as my iPod. I have recently got an iMa which currently has no music on, how would I transfer the music from the iPod to the new iMac, or alternatively from the old Macbook to the iMac?
Just upgraded to the iPhone OS 3.0 on my 1st gen iPod Touch and when I turn the volume up whilst it's in the iPod Hi-Fi, the volume dips when I've finished turning it up... When I push the volume up again the volume slider on the iPod touch then moves down to where it dipped.it's quite hard to explain! Basically, when I turn the volume up to 50%, the sound dips to 25%.... the slider still shows 50% until I press the volume up button and it would move the slider to 25%. (If I wanted to play my music at 50% I would have to turn it up to 75% and wait for it to dip to 50%!)I have reset the iPod touch and restored it but the problem still exists. OS 1.0 and 2.0 didn't have this problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a solution?
i just got a new mac and didnt want to migrate everything so that i could keep this new mac "clean" of my old stuff however im having a hell of a time transfering ical and address book over! My mid-2014 15" Macbook Pro randomly "loses" its retina display at the top menu (becomes pixel-y), where the battery, sound, and wifi logos are (on the top right side of the screen). A restart fixes the issue, but I want to know if this is an issue that can be fixed?
My girlfriend and I attended the Toronto Raptors game last nightFor those of you from Toronto, we parked below the Novotel Hotel on the Esplande. Since both of us were coming from work we had are valuables in the trunk. (we both placed are stuff in the trunk prior to arriving at the location). Well when we arrived back to the car we noticed the back passenger side window was smashed in and the trunk was empty. We weren't the only ones who were robbed in that lot, there was at least one other car that was broken into according to the hotel staff. The police seem to think it was a drug addicts looking for items to sell for drugs and that it is not a coincidence that it was during a Raptors game. The lot has no cameras due to construction being done, so for those in Toronto who frequent Leafs or Raptors games do not park there, it's a cheap alternative but not worth the risk.
I have searched this forum site, and there is a specific app that was mentioned to rip music from your ipod to mac in which i think the first 1000 songs were free. I am having a hard time remembering the name of it, can someone help me out please?ipod to mac is not free as it asks for a registration code (unless I am doing something wrong)I believe it started with an x
My granddaughter has a formated iPod for windows and her computer crashed. The iPod is having problems. She would like to backup her music, but she doesn't have access to a computer. Can I use my iBook running Mac OSX 10.3.9? Is there any software that will let me do this for free? I would like to give her a DVD of her music if possible.
I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.
my "services" menu has disappeared as an option in finder. When I try to access it by right-clicking a finder item (folder or file), it's just plain missing. However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.
Just today it began that when I try and open iChat from the Menu Bar icon, the whole right side of the menu bar reboots. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea of steps I can take to fix it?
I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?
My safari menu bar is missing. The menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc. I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away when borrowing my computer.
I run Windows-only programs on my Mac via Wine and I was wondering if there is a way to move the menu toolbar of the windows up to the menu bar to make it somewhat more Mac-looking.
After a day of installing and trying/deleting new apps as well as trying terminal tricks from UsingMac.com like these and these, i went up to my apple menu in the menu bar for the first time since i started fiddling around, and it looks like what you see below in the attachment. I have absolutely no idea what made it happen; I'm just wondering if there is a way to reset the menu alone. because instead of having just what it says in the "system services" section in the menu, it has all that other stuff as well (Calculator, FruitMenu, etc.).
P.S.: Fruitmenu isn't even installed. i uninstalled it after i found out it was only a demo.
So basically: 1) how do i restore the main menu in the menu bar back to its original settings? and 2) I need to do it in a way that wont screw up the rest of my computer or settings
