Jul 3, 2012I bought 2 new Macbook Pro 13' , 2.9 Ghz Intel Core i7, with 8 Go 1600Mhz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E2617).Â
I have connected a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter in order to show presentations on different LCD projectors but no image appear.Â
The external monitor is detected but no image is shown. I have tried to change the frequencies: parts of the screen appears but no a correct image. I have the same symptoms with the 2 Macbook Pro. Using old Macbook Pro with the same Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter, the slides are showns normally.Â
I make a test with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and with a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and everythings works correctly with both adapters. Â

Mar 23, 2012With my 'old' Intel iMac using a Display Port adapter, my 24" LG Monitor would be detected correctly and worked first time. With my new 2011 iMac 27 using a genuine Apple mini DisplayPort adapter plugged into the Thunderbolt port, this same monitor now shows up as a generic VGA monitor and the range of resolutions is severely reduced - basically it looks terrible. I've tried disconnecting the cable, reconnecting, using the second Thunderbolt, changing resolutions, detecting displays, showing displays in the menu bar. All with no success.

I am just wondering if there is a way I can either:
1. Get more USB ports (if its possible)
2. Hook up my mouse to a Thunderbolt port (again if that is possible)

MacBook Pro :: Thunderbolt To HDMI Does Not Detect TV On Yosemite
Dec 3, 2014I have a Mac Book Pro, my partner a Mac Book Air. I bought a thunderbolt to HDMI cable from eBay so my partner could plug her Air into the TV. When the cable arrived, it would not detect our LG TV from either computer. So a bit of playing around and this is what I found. Â I plugged the cable from my MBP direct to the HDMI port on the TV and nothing, no signal detected. I also tried from the MBP to the HDMI port on the amplifier of the surround sound system and again nothing.However, if I plug the cable from my MBP directly to the TV HDMI and select that corresponding HDMI port on the TV initially still nothing.
But if I then plug a normal hdmi-to-hdmi cable from my amplifier to the Mac Pro's HDMI port, suddenly the thunderbolt cable works and the Display Preferences sees the LGTV. I checked that the correct hdmi port was selected on the TV for the direct connection and I could even turn off my amplifier to make sure that I was not seeing the wrong signal and it still worked as long as the hdmi-to-hdmi was still connected at both ends. However, if I then unplug the HDMI cable from MBP or the amp, the thunderbolt port stops working as well and the TV displays "no signal detected".
It seems that there needs to be either a base signal or an earthing through the MacBook Pro's HDMI port for it to switch into an external monitor mode that will detect a thunderbolt to HDMI connection. This is sort of fine for my MBP as I had nothing working before but it seems a bit pointless having the HDMI cable plugged in as well as I might as well just use this in the first place. However, as my partner's Air only has a thunderbolt port and no HDMI port it still doesn't work with her MAC.

Dec 9, 2014Since installing Yosemite, when my Mac Pro comes out of sleep, I get a "Disk not ejected properly" for each disk drive attached by Thunderbolt 2. This all worked fine on Mavericks.Â
(I have a similar problem with my dual displays, which again worked fine on Mavericks - I've posted this on a different thread under Mac Pro).Â

Jul 4, 2010I need some advice on whether a hardware update will actually improve my video performance or not. Currently I am using a mac mini snow leopard server 2009 model hooked via mini display port to hdmi adapter to my lg 37 LED LCD TV. The mac mini has a intel x25 m 80 gb bootdrive.
2 external fw 800 drives used as video storage. Mostly I use boxee eyetv sat all controlled via appleremote - sofacontrol.
Altogether a great setup. With big mkv files in full hd the picture sometimes is choppy. Would a upgrade to the new 2010 mac mini server with direct hdmi port and 320M graphics actually improve the video quality - graphics performance? or should I stick to my current setup? (I bought the current server cheap from the uk)

1) wake-up form sleep takes up to a minute
2) Various icons will not open or respond until I have clicked on it three or four times and get the spinning beach ball (Finder, Calendar, iTunes)
3) Using Outlook for Mac app - similar issue as 2 when trying to send mail, add attachments or do anythingÂ

Dec 2, 2014I upgraded from Yosemite 10.10 to 10.10.1 a bit over a week ago. I am using a Mac Pro (Mid-2010). iMessage worked fine after my upgrade from Mavericks 9.5 to Yosemite 10.10. When the 10.10.1 upgrade came out, I upgraded. Now, I cannot activate iMessage. I get a message that basically says my Apple ID is not recognized. The same Apple ID and iMessage work fine on my rMPB (late 2013) running the upgraded Yosemite 10.10.1. I have not, in all my attempts to activate, received the error code that some folks mention.Â
