OS X Yosemite :: Mac Read Both Spanish And English Texts?
Dec 7, 2014
my question is simple. I want my Mac to read text both in spanish and english.
I installed the OS in spanish and when the Mac reads text in spanish it is all fine, but of course when reading text in english it sounds terribly as it reads it as if it were a spanish text.
Is there any way to make the Mac read well in both languages?

I'm desperately looking for an English - Spanish translation app for OSX.4.11, preferably free, of course, ha ha, but if anyone out there can make a recommendation, I'm willing to fork out as I need it for work.
As someone taking spanish for a class in school it would be greatly beneficial to spell check both English and Spanish in the spell checker in Pages. Is this possible?
I have a .AVI movie that is in spanish, I am wondering what software is there if ANY to add and create subtitles......also does it translate for you? the problem is I dont speak spanish but I really want to watch this movie
I have a MacBook Pro that's running OS X 10.7.4 and it's stuck in Spanish language. I've tried reseting the Language Preference to English in the System Preferences, but it still uses Spanish for Login, and different warnings, etc. How can I fix this, and make it English across the entire system?Â
How do I change the language on Pages from American English to Australian English? I have changed it on my system preferences but it doesn't seem to affect Pages!
I have a around 45 OS X 10.4.11 clients in a school that I have recently installed iWorks 09 on and through this I have realised that the clients language is set to English (US) which is causing some issues in the spell checker. Â I don't fancy changing the language on all of them manually so I was wondering if it was possible to write a script in AppleScript that would do this for me..
can't write to FTP drives via finder. But I'm having a lot of difficulty connect to FTP drives via finder. Despite using the correct log in details and FTP paths just like I do in Fileziller, Finder constantly rejects and when I do get on using the master file hosting log in details I can't write to the drive only read.
I have clean installed the OS X Yosemite to the new hdd due to problems with the old one and the only trouble I've got is the Notes.app doesn't show the notes themselves.
I can see the notes list synced from iCloud, but when I choose the note in the list the app doesn't show the contents of the selected note.

I just converted a few of my Bluehost-hosted email accounts from POP to IMAP. These accounts and Apple Mail, itself, is on my hard drive (not in iCloud). For some reason, after about five minutes of sitting untouched in my Yosemite Apple Mail inbox, emails sent to these three addresses appear to be "read." The blue dots disappear, even though I haven't clicked on them. Seriously, they haven't been touched. That's not true of the email accounts I have with two other providers (CoreComm and GoDaddy) that I left as POP accounts. They stay marked as unread until I actually click on them. What could be causing this to happen?
My friend's just got a new MacBook Pro, MacOS 10.6.2, latest version of Safari, and she's having problems with a lot of websites displaying some links and text strangely, as A's in boxes (pic attached). Oddly, the other 2 user accounts on her machine are fine with the same websites! She's cleared the cache, restarted Safari and her Mac (many times), changed the text encoding (and then back again), but nothing solves it.
I've been having this weird problem with Safari for almost two months now even before the 5.1.4 update. I even went to Apple Genius with my macbook pro and they said the problem is minor and should be fixed with the new update (5.1.4), but the problem still persists!Â
Basically, whenever I go on YouTube for EVERY/any video and click on the "more info" button to look at the information spread on videos, all the remaining texts and links are "invisible." I have to literally highlight everything in the information spread in order to permanently display the texts, links, etc after enlarging the information tab. I've tried updating everything (Safari--both 5.1.3 and 5.1.4, OSX, repairing disk permissions, all settings are on in Safari, etc) to NO AVAIL! It's so frustrating and annoying. I'm not that tech savvy, so I don't quite understand what kind of problem this applies to whether CSS, JAVA, Flash, or whatever else. A genius bar representative said it's not Flash (which I also updated and reinstalled a few times), since I can load and watch videos perfectly fine. He was able to reproduce the problem on one of the macbook airs at the store and that's when he said the problem should be fixed with the newest update. Chrome and other browsers work perfectly fine with YouTube on my MacBook as well.

For some reason, Messages Beta suddenly began throwing up a dialog when I receve a new text, asking me to accept it. It just started doing this a few days ago. This doesn't happen with every message I receive, and I know the senders that "cause" this message are fellow iPhone users. Could they be using an old version of iOS?Â
Frequently, when using Messages I am not getting all of the incoming messages that sent via iMessage.Â
For example, texting with a friend, I sent her a message, she responded. And, I saw the ... bubble, but didn't get a message. My phone, however, buzzed, and I was able to see a response.Â
Then, I got another message from her, but not the first response. It seems that Messages is intermittently dropping iMessage texts.Â

I am aware and have been using the "command+drag" in order to select different texts in different areas; however, I am now unable to do so. When I hold down the command button, and drag over different texts in different places, the highlight instantly disappears. I am only thus, able to highlight one portion of texts at one time.

How do I do the different fonts/characters needed for certain spanish words like the upside down question mark. Is that a download issue or does it work with a different use of my keyboard?
why the text language I had in a "for sale" flyer that I created in Pages is now in Spanish? I highlighted & pasted the text into Google Translate thinking somehow the language was changed from English to spanish but it did not translate as what I had written. I also noticed the text has changed to spanish in a card my husband created in iPhoto.Â

Using Messages I sent a text to my wife's iPhone 4S. It starts a new screen. How do I send a message so it just appends that message to all the others she's been getting from me?
