OS X V10.4 :: Create A Script That Will Change The Language From English (US) To English (UK) In Applescript?
Apr 16, 2012
I have a around 45 OS X 10.4.11 clients in a school that I have recently installed iWorks 09 on and through this I have realised that the clients language is set to English (US) which is causing some issues in the spell checker. Â I don't fancy changing the language on all of them manually so I was wondering if it was possible to write a script in AppleScript that would do this for me..
How do I change the language on Pages from American English to Australian English? I have changed it on my system preferences but it doesn't seem to affect Pages!
I got a hand me down ibook from a relative but the default language is in German, I cant understand German. Is it possible to change the language display for commands , instructions and icons to English?
When I first installed Snow Leopard, I selected Italy as region but with english language. As a result, under Language & Text in System Preferences, my region in the Formats was set to "Italy (English)", that is the italian format but with months and days names in english.I accidentally changed that setting and selected "Italy (Italian)" and now I see months and days names in italian but with system language set to english.I tried to restore the original setting, but there is no "Italy (English)" option under regions.I also tried to change in italian the system language and then change it back to english, but the days names are still in italian. Aside from defining a Custom format, is there a way to restore the "Italy (English)" original setting?
I currently live abroad (Japan) and am really excited for 10.6 but just want to make sure buying the Snow Leopard disc here will still give me the English lang. version.I assume that Snow Leopard is the exact same disc all over the world, just with the default language set to the country it's being sold in?
I have a MacBook Pro that's running OS X 10.7.4 and it's stuck in Spanish language. I've tried reseting the Language Preference to English in the System Preferences, but it still uses Spanish for Login, and different warnings, etc. How can I fix this, and make it English across the entire system?Â
I have Snow Leopard, I went to the Dictionary application and changed the preference to "British English (IPA)" but it still checks things like colour as misspelled. is there something I am missing? I went to System Preferences>International and under the Text tap changed spelling to "British English" but still it flags colour as wrong... am I missing something?
By default OS X ships with the Oxford American Dictionary installed. I happen to be English, and would like to have my spelling and dictionary done in English English (with words like colour, aluminium, realise, through, etc.) as opposed to American English.
Does anybody know if it's possible to download a new dictionary, or change the installed American dictionary to be an English one?
On my Macbook running Leopard, I mostly write in French. When the OS is set to French language, the built-in dictionary spell checker is also obviously set to French. But I prefer running the OS itself in English. Is there a way to have the English OS, but the spell checker in French ?
If I buy an iMac here in Brazil, I assume the OS will be in Portuguese. Can I get an OS in English (my Portuguese is not good) and re-install the OS so I have everything in English? Or is there a way to choose the lamguage when doing the installation?
I'm desperately looking for an English - Spanish translation app for OSX.4.11, preferably free, of course, ha ha, but if anyone out there can make a recommendation, I'm willing to fork out as I need it for work.
Is there a Mac application to translate French to/from English? The translation utility is useful, but I want something which can do Word documents, PDFs, etc. Google Language is OK, but has its limitations.
