I have searched the threads for an answer, but found none for my issue. I downloaded the new Google Earth app to our new iMac (20", 2.4Gz, 2Gb). It started up fine and looked OK at first. As I zoomed in, the images began to fragment and scramble. The closer I go, the worse it gets. I tried adjusting settings and preferences in both the app and on the iMac. Nothing seemed to work. Any ideas? Oh, it was the latest version, 4.2 something, with the sky images.
I just downloaded OS X yosemite on my iMac. Right away I began getting texts on my computer from now just my cell phone but texts that are going on between my daughter and her friends. I can't figure out how to delete her number from my iMac message feature so I won't get her texts as well.
I am trying to link my text messaging to my Macbook but i can't find where the code is on my computer. Where is the code located so i can type it in to my phone?
I'm using Classic Layout in Mail.app - in the message list the column "Flag" shows all flags/labels as text, i.e. instead of an orange flag icon it shows "Orange". This is rather strange and uses too much space in the list - is there a way to change to icon view? In Mavericks it shows a coloured flag icon.
I tried to find a menu command or Mail.app preference to change this, but couldn't find one. Not sure but I think in OS X 10.10.0 Mail.app showed flag icons; I have OS X 10.10.1 installed.

There is no provision for changing the color, but you can change the size and font, and you can put lines through or under the text.,etc. You can do none of that with MAIL..Do I have to start using another E-mail program?
In Settings->Keyboard->Text it is possible to add/delete replacement texts; e.g. 'omw' comes as a default to replace 'on my way'. A Swedish language default is replacing 'mvh' with 'med vänlig hälsning'. I prefer not using these and have thus deleted both of them. Repeatedly deleted them that is since these defaults keep returning a day or so after I have deleted them.
I'm using Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on a MacBook Air 13'' that was purchased in Oct 2014.
Wondering if I could use a projector and display what is running on "Desktop 1" to an audience while I take notes using an application running on "Desktop 2" without disturbing the audience with my note-taking.
my txt messages sent from my mac is going to another country. the two numbers in my messaging app (left or bottom)are the same person with same number,(which is why i showed it in contacts app) but somehow i get my message through a different tab (without+86) when i receive and if i reply to that nameless tab, my message goes to US (it automatically adds 00s behind the number).
Ever since upgrading to Yosemite OS X on my MacBook pro, I've been unable to view pictures that I send or receive via SMS Text and iMessage on my phone, and receive via AIM, within iMessage on my computer.
All images show up as their file name only, and cannot be viewed or downloaded (see attached screen shots.)
I can view the images fine on my phone, just not on the computer. I've played around with iMessage settings and nothing seems to work.
I have just two icons on my desktop, like this. That's all very nice, but I'd rather there was no text under them and that they looked like this. I'm sure you'll agree that it looks much prettier, but of course it's a mockup. Can I do this for real without using the trick of renaming the drives to be *space* ?
How do I stop/turn-off having all my text messages or phone calls popping up on my laptop? ... Without affecting my iCloud backups, connections, calendar, contacts etc.

Today, with no major changes at all (or downloads), The screen on my MBP no longer shows the files, folders, and aliases I had set up. Only the Hardrive and Idisk Icons. Everything else is GONE? I rebooted, I relaunched, reviewed preferences. Nothing. I also repaired permissions and rebooted.
If I use Finder and drill to the desktop, I definitely SEE all the files aliases, etc. But the don't show up on my screen?
Is there a way to make all text appear larger in all or most of my programs including the desktop? I wear glasses and have a difficult time writing and reading text?
I have just bought the new Mac Mini,but when the screen comes up it has a football icon in the middle of the screen below that it says type in password (To get to your Desktop}
I hadn`t a clue what the password was so Looked in my book at all the passwords.
I tried them one by one then I struck lucky I typed in this password which I new that it wouldn`t work but to my surprise it worked.
how I can to the desktop without these passwords. In system preferences you can change it,but it says then you will have to remember two passwords.
My desktop icons disappeared (on Yosemite). I switched "View/Sort By" to "Kind" away from "Snap to Grid" and they show back up, but then if I move them back to "Snap to Grid" or "None" they disappear again.
I have MBP 17' early 2011. Need to use SSD for better performance. Just wondering, Will it effect my Parallel desktop Win 7?. Do I need to reinstall windows even if I clone current HDD ?
I've only got 21 GB left on my iMac out of 639 GB or something (I save a LOT of videos and audios). My computer is running soooooo slow so I'm thinking that it's just got too much in there and too close to the max capacity to run faster. Am I right? Do I need to delete things or purge or what to free up storage?
I've already deleted a ton of files but I think they are saved in more than one place which means duplicate files all over the place I think? Not sure.
But I can't always save something to the folder I want to save it in, it goes in my downloads folder where then I have to move it to the appropriate folder to save in an organized manner. I've deleted most of my downloads folder and many videos but I'd rather save them somewhere instead and not just rely on YouTube to host and save them.
I have an online data backup system too, Carbonite, but I'm not sure I can save other things there that then are not still on my computer?
I could save things on a hard drive but will that really solve my sloooow computer running issues?
Not sure what to do?

Since I installed Yosemite, I cannot right click on the desktop to make a folder, I cannot drag any files or folders or anything to it or use it at all. It's nothing but a slate and useless. I figured it was a bad install so I reinstalled it today and got the same behavior. I wish I could revert to Mavericks and I tried with time machine but it wouldn't let me.
New to Mac and just updated from Maverick to Yosemite on my Mac Book Air. I have an icon/app that shows Macintosh HD on my desktop. don't know what to do to get it off desktop.
1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems. No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.
