Feb 14, 2012I have about 100 voice memos recorded on my iPhone 3GS and which have successfully synched with my MacBook Pro, which i recently upgraded to Lion. When I open up iTunes, there they all are listed in my Voice Memos playlist.
The voice memos are lists of french vocabulary and so I created themed playlists in iTunes on my mac and arranged the voice memos in the different playlists. When I open the playlists on my Mac's iTunes, they are all there. I have synced them with my phone and the name of the playlists appears on my phone but when I open the playlists, they are empty. I am manually selecting music and playlists to be synced. i have checked the boxes for:
sync music
selected playlists, artists...
playlists (the specific playlists)
and in the genres topic, i have selected voice memos i created a music playlist just now and that works fine, but not with memos.

Dec 1, 2014I have a sizeable iTunes library and enjoy the iTunes screensaver. However, after a recent update (not sure which version of Lion), the screensaver stopped working. At first System Preferences would crash every time I changed to another option and then changed it back (did not get the error message, it was a few weeks ago), but now I just have a black screen that says "Your iTunes Library does not contain any songs with artwork." I have over 80GB and most albums have artwork. My library is not on an external hard-drive, just in the regular Music folder.
I looked at other suggestions online indicating I should delete my voice memos (or at least duplicate ones). I didn't realize I had one, but I deleted it both from iTunes and the folder. This had no effect.
I also used the "Get Album Artwork" function to see if this would work, and nothing changed.
I also deleted com.apple.iApps.plist as suggested by another thread.
Obviously it's not the end of the world not to have my preferred screensaver, but at this point I just want to solve the problem because I've tried so many options.

Oct 17, 2010i moved my iMac when it was on to avoid getting water on it - after that the text to speech is now enabled and I cannot seem to turn it off.
I have tried to change or reset it on the system preferences, speech ,text to speech but can't seem to change anything. There were no key functions assigned so I assigned Control z and tried turning on or off but to no effect.
Also the key board functions are changed. For example the volume (f12) activates the dashboard. When I hold the fn key down the functions are correct. I tried to reset the functions to default in system preferences - keyboard but nothing changes.
Nothing got wet - I think I must of hit some combination of keys to mess this up.

Sep 3, 2009Over the past few months I've taken to recording my weekly supervisor meetings because I've got such an awful memory that I'd forget everything otherwise. Ideally I'd like to have an app with which I can store these recordings but in which I can also add a text description so that if in the future I need to refer back, I know where to look. I'd just want something with a list showing:
28th August - Discussed conference, ideas about x, plan to run simulations varying y and z
4th September - Discussed work on writing w routine, discussed initial x results.
I realise that chances are there's nothing simple enough to do this kind of thing for me and so I might have to resort to something far more bulky and so I'm open to options for more bulky things.
OS X Yosemite :: Why Hearing Loud Foreign Voice Periodically On IMac
Dec 9, 2014Very infrequently a loud foreign voice will be heard on my iMac speaker system. I havent been able to really document it properly as it doesnt last that long and as indicated very infrequent--I believe I have only heard it twice, maybe 3 times in the last month.
It would appear to be within the computer system and not from any local transmissions. It seems to only last 5 or 10 seconds if I recall correctly.
I am concerned that it may be some type of hacking or something that has been put on/in the iMac. I believe it occurred while using Firefox.

Mar 29, 2012is anyone successfully using DragonDictate on MacBook Pro? I have a desktop iMac and DragonDictate works well enough on that but it's not working on my older MacBook (which I need for my office). I'm wondering if I upgrade to a new MacBook Pro if this voice recognition software will work well on it. I've seen other forums where users have had many problems pairing the 2.

Dec 28, 2009I am working on a project where I am having my wife's grandmother telling her life story into a digital audio recorder which creates WMA audio files that play fine in QuickTime with Flip4Mac installed. I want to have these files transcribed into text. She speaks clearly so I think a speech-to-text program may do the job for the most part and do some manual touch up afterward. Can anyone recommend what I should use for this job? The only program I know of is MacDictate/MacSpeech. That's $150+ so that's out of the question. Is their anything out there that works and won't break the bank?

Dec 8, 2014I'm using Classic Layout in Mail.app - in the message list the column "Flag" shows all flags/labels as text, i.e. instead of an orange flag icon it shows "Orange". This is rather strange and uses too much space in the list - is there a way to change to icon view? In Mavericks it shows a coloured flag icon.
I tried to find a menu command or Mail.app preference to change this, but couldn't find one. Not sure but I think in OS X 10.10.0 Mail.app showed flag icons; I have OS X 10.10.1 installed.

Dec 1, 2014In Settings->Keyboard->Text it is possible to add/delete replacement texts; e.g. 'omw' comes as a default to replace 'on my way'. A Swedish language default is replacing 'mvh' with 'med vänlig hälsning'. I prefer not using these and have thus deleted both of them. Repeatedly deleted them that is since these defaults keep returning a day or so after I have deleted them.

1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems.No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.
