Apr 11, 2012So I use Preview for taking notes in class. I just add text boxes on top of the slides and save it afterwards. It usually works great. But the last few PDFs, even though I type all the text correctly and save it before I close, I will reopen the PDF document later to find that every text box throughout the document has been turned sideways! It's really annoying to have to go back and individually turn the boxes right side up (if I just enlarge the textbox a little, the words align correctly). I'm using a MacBook Pro (pretty new) with Lion OS.

Jul 10, 2009I've been having intermittent problems with the Preview app showing PDF files with either missing text or distorted fonts. The PDFs all display correctly if I use Adobe Acrobat (Reader or Professional). The one I can consistently get to malfunction is the PDF generated by the Postal Service label generator. The barcode always prints incorrectly by Preview, yet if I pull up that very same file in Adobe, it displays and prints just fine.

Oct 7, 2009Since I have installed SL, when I try to print to PDF from the print menu or save a PDF I'm viewing with Preview (for example) from a website, the text of the PDF is completely garbled/scrambled.
I don't have this problem when I use Acrobat 8 Pro only when I am using the OS PDF or saving and/or printing from Preview. I have cleared the font cache, but no solution.

Mar 15, 2012I have a problem when saving a pdf using preview.Â
I create a document using Xelatex and the document works fine just after it is created, i.e. it looks good, it can be searched, etc. The problem comes when I save the document using preview. For example if I add a note, or highlight something and save the document, it automatically losses all text information.Â
It can still be opened and looks good, but it cannot be searched any more. In addition, if I try to copy a part of the text all I get are some strange characters that look like a small square with a face on it.Â
If I do the same procedure (i.e. open, highlight some text, and save) using pdf acrobat reader, the file is still readable both in acrobat and preview. It has to be fonts related, since it only happens when I use xelatex or latex with some specific fonts, but not with all of them.Â

Mar 22, 2012I frequently use Preview to annotate PDFs and screen shots, and every time I add a text box annotation it is formatted to center the text in the box. Is there any way to change that so that text is aligned with the left side of the box?

May 11, 2012I have several PDF docs with several annotations in them. When I show the sidebar in Preview it lists page, type, date, and author, but does not display the words in the annotations!With a long of annotations that only identify themselves by "Text", it's laborious to find the note one is looking for. (One has to manually step through each one at a time!)

Jul 4, 2009Alu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point.It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?

May 10, 2009In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? Intel Mac :: Printed Text Doesn't Match Size Of Onscreen Text
Jul 2, 2012Mac screen resolution is getting higher and higher, which is nice, but the downside is that we seem to have lost "what you see is what you get." I have set the default document size of Text-Edit to about the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 document, which fits easily on the screen. I have what appears to be a single page of text. It all easily fits in the document window. The headline fits across the width of the page. But when I choose Print, the print preview shows that the text is going to spill out onto two sheets of paper.  I exit out of the print document and reduce the text size so that it all prints out on one sheet of paper. The problem is, the size of the text onscreen is now TINY! It looks like it's about 6 point while the printed text looks like it's about 12 point! No WYSIWYG!  When I revert the document to the way it was originally, where it was going to print out on two sheets of paper, and then hold my printed document up next to the screen, the printed size matches the onscreen size almost perfectly, even though, if printed out at this size, the text would spill out onto two pages and be huge. In other words, 18 point size text prints out at about 12 points and 12 pt text prints out at about 6pts, so there's about a 6pt difference in how text looks onscreen and how it prints out. Again, No WYSIWYG! My older Macs had much lower-resolution screens, but text printed out at about the same apparent size on screen. I know the original Macs had 72dpi screens so that they would closely match the printed size of text, and I like the fact that monitors keep getting better, but is there a way around this problem of printed text not matching the size of onscreen text?

Final Cut Pro X :: Correcting Text In Project That Will Not Show Separate Text From Video
Dec 7, 2014So I found the lost project in FCPX. It has a music tract, text and video. When I pulled the project down for editing, I am able to separate the music from the video, but the text bubbles do not appear above the video allowing me to change the misspelled words that need editing.I've searched all of my backup drives for the original footage in case I have to re-edit the whole thing, but I'm unable to find the original footage. Every event in my libraries appears as a finished project.

Safari :: 5.1.2 Keeps Changing Text Field Randomly On Text Input
Feb 21, 2012Safari keeps changing the text field on input, do you know how to correct this issue?Â
Here is an example:
Let's say I load www.google.com, it appears in the safari window as usual.
Suppose I begin to type a search in the google search field at the top right of the safari window (not the one on the google page)
if when doing this the sentence is long for the search, at some point randomly, the rest of the text will be entered this time in the google search text field on the google page! (which is the very next text field) So when I hit enter it makes google search half of my request...
Safari changed the text field I was into with no warning. I want to say I do not press tab at any moment. This is annoying really, and this does not appear anywhere else than in Safari. It seems the issue is not systematic, but appears quite often.
I have no universal access setting except "enable access for assistive device" I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.Â
OS X :: How To Select Text Layer And Modify Text And Add Watermark
May 17, 2009I have designed a corporate letter head for a friend and it is still in jpeg format after using photoshop. Now I want to import it into a pages document so that I can give it to him in PC format so he can type over the watermark and put his letters onto his letterhead... now I can do that quite easily on my PC but not so on my Mac...
I can add the watermark image into the Pages document but for some reason I can't work out how to modify the text from then... i can see how you move the text formatting but if i wanted to add a word into a paragraph etc i can't select the text. It's as if the watermark layer is the only layer I can select and the text is not longer selectable.... can anybody help me out with this please? I just need to be able to select the text layer and modify the text..

Oct 14, 2010Why I would I use one over the other, the Red X to close a window or the Yellow - to minimize a window? With both functions the program is still running the background, so I don't get the differences other than with using the Red X the application won't be on the dock. Why is one used more over the other, when they basically do the same thing?

User says it has been gradually getting worse since the Summer. Has a very heavy yellow overtone on any window in the foreground, and some blue etching in the background. I did a search and found plenty of info re: the LCD iMac, but found nothing about this in the eMac? I ran the colorSync utility, and no dice.

Anyway when I got it home on the day I noticed a spec of dust under the glass. Called Best Buy but surprise, surprise they had sold out of the model I had. No biggie I thought, I will get it looked at one day.
IMac :: Yellow Tint Is Back?
Nov 27, 2010So I took the hefty plunge and purchased the 27" i5 from a local Apple Retail Store, believing that Apple would have finally resolved the yellow-tint issue from over a year ago, or at least it would appear in much less iMacs as it has sorta died down on the forums.
Anyways, opened it last night, and continued copying over files to it today, only to notice that it has a slight yellow-tint issue towards the bottom 1/3 of display.
I've already made a genius bar appointment......I even purchased Apple Care on it, so the total was around 2.5k, and I'm hoping for them to allow a swap for another brand new unit? Is this likely, or will they just simply wave me off to a repair or refurb route. After dumping so much $ on it, and even purchasing Apple Care, I wouldn't be satisfied for anything but a straight exchange to a new unit.
Also, will they allow me to open it up right there and check to see that it doesn't have any display issues as well?
Mac Mini :: DVI To Red / White And Yellow Pins Possible?
Dec 12, 2010I am trying to connect a core solo 1.5ghz Intel Mac Mini to a TV. Now the TV is old so the only connection type I can do is either scart or the 'phono' type red white and yellow pins that you have (yellow for video and other two for stereo sound). Is there any type of adaptor available? And if so (because I think there is). How will I know that my mac mini DVT can output to those for a video source? Do I need to know about graphics cards details or anything? Or will anything support it?
