View 2 RepliesThis is driving me nuts. I'm working with a 400 page document where I frequently have to change styles. When I'm scrolling through the list, the huge styles tooltip hoverboxes pop up. They obscure 3 or 4 style options at a time, so I have to scroll farther than necessary to see them.
I've searched Words' preferences, but I can't find out where to disable the tooltips.
This is not a question about the highlight color that you set in system preferences. When you search for text, the found text jumps out at you in blaring yellow, all too literally in your face. This was useful when they first introduced it in Safari-- but now it's all over the OS. In a text editor, where the search result might be a whole paragraph, it's agonizing. It's getting to where I have to look away from the screen when I hit Search, and wait a moment for the color to die down. Isn't there any way to disable it? It hurts my eyes.I found a thread from pretty exactly two years ago asking the same question:[url]

I've been having this problem in 3.5 and 3.6...any time I mouse over text or an image that has a tooltip (the little yellow text box), I just get a blank yellow box. Take xkcd, for example. The main comic (image) always pops up a text box. But all I see is a small blank box, like it's displaying a space or something.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAlu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?
I opened up the following:
System Pref>>Users>>Log In Items>>Highlighted one of the hard drives that I have start up and right clicked>>reveal in finder. This is what it looks like now.
See screen shots for finder view and desktop view.
1. What does this mean? I have done some google'ing using the terms yellow arrow OS X 6 etc. But nothing has come up.
2. Should I be worried?
3. How do I get rid of it?
Why I would I use one over the other, the Red X to close a window or the Yellow - to minimize a window? With both functions the program is still running the background, so I don't get the differences other than with using the Red X the application won't be on the dock. Why is one used more over the other, when they basically do the same thing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew here to MacRumors. As the title states, I have a G4 eMac(all white sort of cone shaped) that has a screen that is progressively getting worse. User says it has been gradually getting worse since the Summer. Has a very heavy yellow overtone on any window in the foreground, and some blue etching in the background. I did a search and found plenty of info re: the LCD iMac, but found nothing about this in the eMac? I ran the colorSync utility, and no dice.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow this is my first ever Mac after being dragged into the Apple world by my iPhone and iPad. I love it, everything is a joy to use and i've been surprised at how quickly I have adapted to the world of Mac.
Anyway when I got it home on the day I noticed a spec of dust under the glass. Called Best Buy but surprise, surprise they had sold out of the model I had. No biggie I thought, I will get it looked at one day.
So I took the hefty plunge and purchased the 27" i5 from a local Apple Retail Store, believing that Apple would have finally resolved the yellow-tint issue from over a year ago, or at least it would appear in much less iMacs as it has sorta died down on the forums.
Anyways, opened it last night, and continued copying over files to it today, only to notice that it has a slight yellow-tint issue towards the bottom 1/3 of display.
I've already made a genius bar appointment......I even purchased Apple Care on it, so the total was around 2.5k, and I'm hoping for them to allow a swap for another brand new unit? Is this likely, or will they just simply wave me off to a repair or refurb route. After dumping so much $ on it, and even purchasing Apple Care, I wouldn't be satisfied for anything but a straight exchange to a new unit.
Also, will they allow me to open it up right there and check to see that it doesn't have any display issues as well?
I am trying to connect a core solo 1.5ghz Intel Mac Mini to a TV. Now the TV is old so the only connection type I can do is either scart or the 'phono' type red white and yellow pins that you have (yellow for video and other two for stereo sound). Is there any type of adaptor available? And if so (because I think there is). How will I know that my mac mini DVT can output to those for a video source? Do I need to know about graphics cards details or anything? Or will anything support it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedBooted up my Macbook Pro this morning and I noticed this strange yellow-speckled discoloration at the top of my desktop screen. I'll attach a screenshot--its in the center of the screen, right below the top menu bar. What is this? Ran a complete cycle of Onyx, but it's still there.

I've been on the phone with Apple a few times, and have had my MacBook (brand new) checked out for antenna issues by a Genius. All is well. I've tried resets of all sorts on the Express, and what happens is that in the mornings the main Express is blinking yellow. This morning nothing--not any kind of reset--would change that. is it time for a new Express?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm curious what your experience has been with getting a new replacement either from Apple directly or the reseller. I bought mine from MacMall a few weeks ago and it seems to have a bit of the yellowing as well as 20 or so dead/stuck pixels in the isight camera and now I'm thinking about trying for a replacement. I spoke to an Apple rep earlier today and he is working to see what he can do for me but apparently Apple sales weren't wanting to allow me to just swap for a new one through the normal channel everyone who buys their iMac directly from the Apple Store gets. The rep is going to call me back on Monday and let me know what he can do for me. MacMall will allow me to return and rebuy supposedly
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read the many many threads on the Yellow Tint issue although i am concerned about buying a 27" i5 Imac as i've been saving for a while. I'd be really disappointed if i end up with a screeen with the yellow tint issue.
What i would like advice on is the following:-
Has the reason behind the yellow tint issue been found and has it been resolved?
Would waiting for the next updated Imacs be a better option as i am not in a major hurry to buy my imac although i would prefer to buy it sooner rather than later considering the time i have been saving.
But only some of them! File/Edit/View
Go/Tools/Bookmarks are still white.
All other apps are running normally.
This is on my MacMini still running 10.5.8

I see in macintosh hd that yellow folder called "other" is getting bigger and bigger every day. i can't delete any folders because i don't know what they're about. if i open macintosh hd i find (in italian) two folders: "sistema" (maybe system in english) and "utenti" ( users ?). Both are 15Gb. I also see that in my girlfriend's macbook air yellow "other" is empty! how It's possible?

In "About My Apple" under the storage tab, what does the yellow bar "other" mean? Other takes up most of my storage and I'm out of space on my disc so I'd like to trash some things.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI looked through the yellow tint threads and sure enough noticed that my high res AG had it. At first I dismissed it as poor viewing angles. I calibrated the LCD, which seemed to make it a bit better. But it is not a matter of viewing angles. I tried the test on my friend's old blackbook, and when viewing the screen head-on, the bottom square definitely looks yellow, BUT, when tilting the computer back, changing the viewing angle, the square turns white again, thus, a result of viewing angles. The same thing on my HR AG doesn't change the color of the bottom square, it stays yellowish. So I'm pretty much convinced that it's a real issue, at least to some degree.
I'm considering taking it back to the Apple store, or at least going there and seeing how their display models look. Something tells me that nearly all HR AG models (the current shipment that's out right now) suffers from this, and that my replacement will be the same. Does anyone think this is true as well? Should I even bother trying to swap it out? The yellow tint threads have several people that are going through 5-6 exchanges, and all still getting the same problem.
I have a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac that has developed a vertical yellow line in the display that won't go away even when restarted. It's like a 1 pixel column of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. I think it's still under warranty. Is this something that can be fixed under the warranty?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYou might have seen a previous thread I've made called "Dual Book Mac Leopard with 0S 9" on my PowerBook G4 12". This proved to be impossible as the parts weren't old enough to support OS 9. Now I have a new idea, put Yellow Dog Linux on it and see if it has classic environment. Is this possible. Can YDL run OS 9 apps?

Wondering if the yellow, charging light, sometimes coming on and going off is an indication of my battery going dead. Mine is a UMBP and the battery hasn't been change. Don't use it too much, though.
