OS X :: Why Is The Green "plus" Button So Broken

I've come to a conclusion today: the only time I ever press the green plus button at the top left of windows is to switch between mini itunes and big itunes.
If I use it in safari, it makes my window tiny and unusable. All I want is a proper maximize button like in windows! At least, if its not gonna maximize, if it had some sort of pattern to how it worked, that would be fine too. Instead I'm scared to push it.
If I use it in quicktime, you would think it would fit screen. Instead it does nothing.
Can anybody explain how this button works and if I'm missing something here?

I just broke my mighty mouse today accidentally, I was just trying to fix the little ball inside of mouse. It was really HARD to open my mouse, I hate apple for making this product the wrong way. I notice once I finished cleaning the inside that I broke the ribbon off I don't know when it happened. Is there any way to fix this green ribbon strip its been cut in half? The green strip connects to the top part. The mouse does still work for 1 st left click but not right click or the sides. I wish I never done this in the first place. I have tried connecting the the ripped green strip by a piece of tape, but doesn't seem to work at all. Here is picture of the green strip my talking. This picture was found on the internet. [URL]

why doesnt my green button at the top of my screen maximise my safari window?
if i drag it to how big i want it wen i go to a new page it becomes small again and the green button in the top left corner doesnt work

Before the most recent update, hitting the green button on iTunes would make it tiny in the corner, now you have to hit apple-shift-M. I find this annoying, is there any way to go back to just hitting the green button?

I was attempting to replace the hard drive in my eMac, but for instructions I HAD to follow some darn take-apart guide that said pull out the connection for the power button cord from the logic board. I didn't know that it was SOLDERED in there, and now I can't complete putting my eMac back together without doing so.
Can this be fixed without having to send it to Apple? Does it HAVE to inolve soldering, or is there an alternative? Is there a way I can temporary have my eMac power on until I get the connector fixed?

I have just shipped my Mac Mini to its new home and I've had reports that the panic error is appearing on boot up: "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button." This screen appears on the blue window just after the grey apple screen has disappeared and does not get as far as the desktop at the same point each time. We have tried to reinstall mac OS from the original install disk but holding the "C" Key or the "Option" Key down on restart doesn't boot from disc. Is there a way you can view the Kernel Panic log before you boot into Mac OS so we can try and pin point the source of this problem. I'm wondering if this could have been the result of the shipping that has caused some hardware to come loose.

My "achive as" button do not appear when im trying to save a scanned PDF document but only the "achive" button. I have tried seraching the internet for answer but without any result. A solution to the prblem is to press doublicate and then "archive" then i get the option to save in a specific loaction (notice that even after doublicating i don't get the option to archvie as).
-The problem also appears on exsisting pdf document and documents from other users.
- i open it in apple standard preview program
- The problem appaered 6 months ago after and general apple software upgrade.
- I don't have any "download" folder in my finder menu ( I don't know if this is a relevant information but could have somthing to do with the settings i.e. as administor even though it is my own mac).

Anyone ever gotten a green screen? Last time I saw one, the logic board died. I'm hoping that's not what happened here.I was ripping some videos on my MacPro 1,1 (2006) when all of the sudden the computer crashed and the screen turned green. Now, everytime I restart it won't go past it.it's not the motherboard cuz that's an expensive fix!

Our green light comes on for our camera (on our Mac 10.4.11) when we are not using it. It also comes on when photobooth and ichat are not running. Does this mean that we have a virus, someone somewhere is watching us, or what?

What are some possible causes of a green screen with vertical lines and a loss of text contrast? This is a 4 month old Macbook Pro. All updates have been done.....it's going in to the genius bar this A.M.

We just upgraded to LION 10.7.4 and I'm noticing on a few of my Quicktime movies - when paused, the screen turns green? THAT'S never happened before. I'm sure it's an upgrade issue, when I go back to our clone from last week, it doesn't do that! We use QT Pro 7.66. on a MacBook Pro (about 1 1/2 years old) - always perfect results, but now this? No big deal, just a little annoying. It only does this on a few of the movies we've exported out of Final Cut Pro. Can't find the pattern?

I have a Mac Pro 1,1. Tonight the display starting looking like the screen shot attached. Then it wouldn't come up at all. Black screen, with a few bands of green pixels.
My first thought is that the Graphics Card is going bad. Odd thing is, though, that I captured this via screen capture from another Mac. Could it still be a bad GPU if it looks this way remotely? I'm not sure how these early Mac Pros work. I have Mac minis that, when the display is off (or headless), the GPU is not used to render the GUI via screen sharing. So, I tried disconnecting the display from the Mac Pro, and I get the same screen shot.
I can boot the Mac Pro into Safe Mode, but that is it.

The last days I've had some problem with my MacBook. The machine hung 3 times - it went to a gray screen with a light gray box about 5"X3" with a light colored power switch as a background, that says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button" (then says it in French, German, and what looks like Chinese letters maybe?)

I bought this Late 2007 macbook off of craigslist, and it was working perfectly. But after a little water got mon my macbook and charger, I plugged it in and it had a bright green light and wouldn't charge. The Next day I plugged it in and it only had a dim green light, it wouldn't Start up without the battery, or run without it. Now all I need is the battery in it to start it up and it will run off of the charger, But it still has that dim green light. The charger is a little Damaged, Photo's In the attachments. My dog chewed on it a while back. This is my first macbook, And the dvd drive is not working, but I have managed to reinstall SL with USB, So it is not a software problem.

my magsafe light goes dim green, orange, or off when plugged into my macbook
it still charges it fine, an it never stops charing, just the light goes dim. if i wiggle the wire the light turns back on.
i went to the apple store, the guy didnt look at it but i explained the above, he said its normal an his does the same an come back if it stops chargin
what do you thing? should i go back or call or is it fine.

I unplugged my blackbook last night when it was fully charged so I could drain the battery. Then I moved my macbook upstairs to the router and plugged in the ethernet so I could publish my website. I then plugged in my charger so it wouldn't die with publishing but its suddenly stopped working. The outlets work with other electronic devices but not my blackbook charger. No green light or nothing. It worked just a hour or two ago.

My MagSafe adapters does not stay green. If I unplug it from the wall and plug it back in it will light up. When I open up my laptop the light goes out. It is still plugged in and the computer still works.

My friend has the 24" white, 2.16Ghz iMac - spec http://www.everymac.com/systems/appl...nch-specs.htmlHe is currently running a fully updated install of Tiger, and running EyeTV v2.5.3 and VLC (unknown version). Here are the problems being exhibited:1/ When EyeTV is running, it will sporadically, and unpredictably, crash without explanation.2/ Many times, the iMac will not even boot - it gets so far @ the grey screen, and then the "Please restart your computer" screen pops up:3/ Also, when using either VLC or EyeTV, sometimes there are patterns of green *horizontal* lines, spanning the area of the video playback window (NOT the entire iMac screen) - this happens a LOT.I have booted in safe mode, verified the volume in Disk Utility, repaired permissions, and it still exhibits these same issues. Also, EyeTV will freeze when displaying video, quite often.

I recently imported a full library of pictures into iPhoto.....most of them came across without any problems, but I have about 20 pictures that are green, i mean really green. I check the original file and opened it with lightroom and photoshop and the pictures load normal, I searched and found the iphoto copy and opened it with LR and PS and it opened normal. When I open iphoto and try to do anything with those pictures, they display green in other apps like when I drag and drop them on iweb. Does anyone else have this problem?. its happened on two different iMacs...same library and mostly the same pictures, I have a c2d mac and it did the same things but on that imac it was more like 150 pics that were green, on the new i7 imac its like 20.

strange shapes started appearing on the desktop - a fluorescent green (like vertical strips of 5 or 6 pixels in a group), sometimes as a shadow of a previous open window, sometimes just random squares or lines. The blocks of green go if i run my mouse over them with the button pressed down.
a fluorescent green light sometimes shines around the programme tiles in the dock.

I recently bough a 2nd hand MacBook Pro off eBay & all has been fine until today when I was using it. Suddenly a green line appeared down the right hand side of the screen. I did a bot of research & people say it could be the GPU, but I know that this particular MBP has had the logic board replaced only last year. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but the line has now gone.
