OS X :: Watching Movie With Two Subtitles At Same Time
Nov 22, 2009
I have some DVDs that have multi subtitle. I wanna watch the movies with two subtitle at the same time! I try snow leopard's DVD player and it cant do this and VLC too. Is there any application to do this? Cyberlink DVD player can do in windows but in Mac?
I quit iTunes and my rental movie disappeared after watching half of the movie. The rental sidebar disappeared as well. What do I do to retrieve my movie?
I downloaded a movie (had to because I can't get it where I live, Waltz with Bashir) I knew it was in a different language but I didn't expect there to be no subtitles, so I found a site that had them but now I don't know how to add them, they are in the same folder as the movie, but if I go to Quicktime it says there are no subtitles.
I have a movie file in .avi format and a subtitle file in .sfv format, and I would like to burn the subtitled movie onto a DVD using Toast Titanium. I've discovered that simply dragging both files onto the disk won't work - Toast rejects the .sfv file.
There obviously has to be a simple (?) way of combining the two files, but it's proved surprisingly difficult to find out how, so I'd be grateful for any guidance.
I have a .AVI movie that is in spanish, I am wondering what software is there if ANY to add and create subtitles......also does it translate for you? the problem is I dont speak spanish but I really want to watch this movie
I know that VisualHub is no more, but I still use it to transcode stuff for my Apple TV. I have an mkv file with embedded subtitles (not hard coded) which I can turn on or off in VLC, however I want to hard code them into the movie, so I go through the transcoding process and it ignores the subtitles. Does anyone know how I can get VisualHub to hard code the subs on the output movie? As I'm probably barking up the wrong tree now VisualHub is no longer, could someone point me in the right direction of an easy way to do this? I'd rather not use Handbrake as I don't get as good results (dropped frames, and choppy video) as I do when I use VH.
I have been trying to burn a DVD with iDVD with DVD player selectable subtitles and every time I burn a disc the subtitles are removed. The files I am adding to iDVD are mp4 with external .srt subtitles added to them via a re-encode with handbreak. Is there any way to preserve the subtitles and make them selectable on a DVD player?
I have a long oversea flight coming up, do you guys know if the below setup will work? google result is inconclusive, some say it does others say it doesnt..
1) download itune movie rentals to my macbook pro at home 2) once on the plane, with the internet off, play the downloaded itune movie.
Will it play? does it require internet? some of the reports are saying they get error message saying cannot connect to itune store etc... but those are from early 2009. Anyone know for a fact if this works, or not work?
I notice that while streaming a movie, watching a dvd or playing a game my hard drive fan is so loud, its annoying. I have a 2008 White Macbook and i replaced the stock hard drive with a western digital 5400rpm 320gb and I only have 1gig of ram. I have no problem replacing the hard drive for a 7200 but i just need to know if its worth it. If i were to upgrade the ram to 2gigs would that solve the problem? Is it possible to install a 500gig drive into the white macbooks?
Since nothing was on my calendar for tonight I decided to rent the movie Miss March and play it on my one week old uMBP 13'. It started off well and an hour into the movie, the screen just froze. Nothing working out, I restarted my macbook the hard way, and it did to me another time again. I had to watch the movie in a normal window not for itunes to crash.
I was just watching a video on Youtube and then all of a sudden my entire machine freezes, and it logged out me out completely to the main login screen? There was that tiny loading rotate logo in the screen also. What could have caused this?
I have been running out of hard drive space and have deleted a whole bunch of files... even deleted all the languages i didn't need from all my applications... about a week ago i freed up around 2GB.... but without saving and downloading anything my free space is now 70MB!! All I have been doing is watching streamed videos and I notice this reduces the drive space as I'm watching it!! Even opening firefox and some websites drops my memory by 0.1MB. I can't find anywhere where temporary files might be so i can delete them.
I never used to have this problem but I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I now use wireless internet through a phone provider and a USB modem rather than my previous WiFi via cable broadband. Can anybody shed some light on what is stealing my memory when browsing?
i just ordered a late 2008 macbook pro 15 with the dual GPUs (9400m and 9600m GT) and I'm a little worried about the battery life.
-What can I expect if just doing normal every day stuff (web surfing mostly?)
-does watching a movie off of the hard disk use less battery than watching it off a DVD? Is there a big difference?
I'm not a big gamer but would like to have the horsepower to play a game should one come out that I want. I'm also not a big traveler so battery times are only of average importance.
Basically, I'm asking if I made a good purchase considering I have only average concerns for both battery and game performance. They had the new 7 hour battery 15" macbook pro for the same price but it doesn't have the dual GPUs.
im a new member and im experiencing problems with my macbook manufactured in 2007. So today i was watching a film on my macbook which is connected to my HDTV and while watching the movie on the TV the screen on the macbook went black. I thought this was unusual so i went to move the cursor and press any keys and nothing happened. I turned the macbook off and a white screen came up for a sec and then the same black scree. I tried resetting the PRAM and nothing. I used a flashlight to see if i would see a faint desktop in the display to see if it was the inverted or back light, but there was nothing. The macbook responds perfectly, i connected it again to the TV and i can use it through that screen, but the display on the macbook is still black. I would highly appreciate it if you guys would be able to diagnose anything based on the symptoms i just described,
If I were to connect a Mac Pro to a TV via the DVI output and using a DVI to HDMI cable, could I still work on the computer at the same time while the movie is being played on the TV. I want to rip my whole DVD collection to the HDD.
I know that I could do this with AppleTV but I want to be able to go directly from the Mac to the TV and be able to play movies in 1080 vs. 720.
Also, am I right to assume that the video quality would be the same through the Mac as opposed to a DVD player?
This a possible duplicate or similar message posted a few minutes ago. I'm not sure it posted and it's not showing yet. I have an iMac 20 inch Late 2006 MA589WA I'm running OX 10.7.3
It has Intel Core 2 Duo 1 Processore, 2 Core L2 Cache 4 mb Memory 2mb Buss speed 667
The memory seems to be about 80% filled according to a chart I saw earlier. I back up everything to Time Machine and suppose I could clean the disk of all but applications making sure I had properly saved all my records, letters, papers written and songs and see if that does it but I'm much rather find a simpler fix from the community if any of you have similar problems and have solved them.

My kids made a video, edited it in iMovie and burned it to a CD. When we put the cd into our macbook pro and play it through QT Player the video pauses and stutters and the audio is not synced up to the lips, and that's if and when the audio does come on. The CD is fine as it does play as it should on the pc desktop that we have. What are we doing wrong?
I have all my movies on an external drive. I used to be able to select a large number of them, drag them into iTunes and it'd import them all. Now, regardless of how many I select, it'll only import one of them. What's wrong?
I was wondering if anyone knew why ITunes takes forever to make an "ipod/iphone" version of a movie from the advanced menu? It seems like when i use mpeg stream clip or another video converter it is much quicker.
I got my macbook pro yesterday and I am already loving it - I was looking for some advice on some accessories and things.
When I got the macbook with my student discount I got a printer for 20 from apple, as well as applecare for 3 years and a 18 ipod nano and a case/sleeve for when I have to bring it travelling.
1. I am at university/college and I was wondering what accessories you would recommend me?
2. I am looking at getting an external USB hard drive - for either my music and movie collection or for time machine.
What drive would you recommend? The apple one is too expensive, I assume any standard USB one will work though?
And is it possible to partition the drive, if it was big enough, and make like a 320gb partition for time machine and then have the rest for normal storage?
3. I know everyone says there are no viruses for macs etc. and stuff, but there is antivirus software available, which there must be a reason for? Is it wise to get antivirus software for a mac, or is it completely un-needed? I have also enabled the firewall.
4. Does anyone think mobileme is worth paying that much for? The guy in the apple store said it would be especially good since I have an iphone as well. And would it work with my gmail account?
I have an HD MOV file I'd like to burn to a DVD with subtitles. I made a DVD in iDVD but obviously iDVD doesn't support .srt. I had the idea of replacing the separate episodes (I'm burning a series) with my own VOB files I made with different software. That way I could have my soft subtitles. But FFMPEGX won't work; I've tried nearly everything but there's this huge problem with the framerate which makes it basically unwatchable. Note that I live in Europe so this DVD should be PAL. The files have 23.98 FPS and I need to go to 25 for it to work in a DVD player. What's the best software for this kind of thing?
I have two avi files on my mac that have swedish subs. Also the full length movie is split in two avi's. How can I remove the subs and join the two files?
I have a very old foreign film I need to burn onto a DVD. Right now it's in two parts - a first part .avi and a second part .avi. The subtitles are .srt for the first part and .sub for the second part (so four files altogether with two video files and two subtitle files).
I have a PS3 that can read computer type files and has worked for other movies and things I've burned onto DVDs and even CDs, but apparently it won't show the subtitles in these files so I need to convert it or something. I am trying in iDVD but it's not letting me put the .srt or .sub files in there.
What is the easiest way to do this? I'm not very technically proficient, so please use layman's terms.
I want to rip subtitles from some Chinese tv series. There are anywhere from 10-20 episodes on each dvd. I only want the subtitles. Is there mac software that can do this? I have a G4 mac with leopard os.
I have a .avi file, but it has subtitles. Im on a mac 10.4.11, so how do I remove the subtitles from the video??? Like what application should I get to use to remove the subtitles?
