Windows On Mac :: Won't Connect Internet / Using Windows Vista And Boot Camp

Oct 9, 2009

I've installed the drivers, and when I start up in Windows, neither the internet or the wireless pick up.

Using Windows Vista Home Premium. The little wireless icon in the tray just has the big X, so it's literally picking up nothing. I also can't connect via ethernet.

OS X :: Internet On Mac Not Working - How To Connect

Sep 24, 2009

I just moved into a new apartment, set up new internet and router, but I have trouble accessing a lot of websites, like [URL]. All my friends are using PCs, and I'm the only one on Mac. None of their computers have trouble going to the same sites, but I'm stuck watching a blank screen.

I researched around, but I cannot find a solution to this. I've tried pinging websites, running the command line to flush the DNS cache, but nothing has worked. Is there some sort of system preference I have to set on my Mac, such as lowering security features, to access the sites I use the most?

Windows On Mac :: Sound In Windows Vista (64bit) Not Working Right Under BootCamp 3.0?

Sep 24, 2009

Last night I installed Windows Vista to run a game on here, but I got several issues. I already installed the drivers from the Snow Leopard DVD, but the problems still persist.

The issues are:

1. Sound is very very low and uneven. I have the volume all the way maxed, but the loudest it can go is less than half than the potential volume in Snow Leopard.

2. Headphones don't work. I've tried like 3 pairs of headphones and none of them work. When I plug them in, the sound still comes from the left speaker (I can barely hear the right speaker) on the laptop and not on the headphones. Also, the headphone jack is emitting a red light out of it.

3. The lights on the keyboard won't shut off. I used the F5 key to turn off the keyboard backlighting, and while it goes very dim they won't shut off.

I already tried the suggestions on this thread but none of those fixes work. I need help! Especially with the sound! Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running a MacBook Pro 13" from June 2009, 2.26GHz Intel, 4GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce 9400M. I instlled a 64bit version of Windows Vista (OEM).

Windows On Mac :: Getting Motorola S805 Bluetooth Headphones Working In Windows 7

Jul 19, 2010

I have a Macbook Pro 13" (Mid-2009) running Windows 7 32-bit via Bootcamp. I was trying to figure out how to get my Motorola S805 bluetooth headphones to work in Windows 7, and the difficult part was that Windows 7 doesn't include the necessary A2DP bluetooth profile in the stock bluetooth stack. You're supposed to get it from your bluetooth adapter vendor, which apple doesn't seem to include in the Bootcamp drivers. The solution was to install the Broadcom/Widcomm bluetooth driver version 6.3.0.3800. I found a number of websites with this driver, but I wasn't sure if they were reputable or not. I eventually found the driver I needed from Gateway, which I was willing to try

MacBook :: WLAN Not Working On Mb - Unable To Connect

Feb 23, 2009

I have had problems with my macbook for a while now. When I am at school I need to log on a 802.1x wlan with a certificate. For some reason I decided to change the trust settings, and after I did that my internet has become very unreliable. It is like the airport turns on and off all the time. I use iStat and when I look at the Network in and out values they keep changing from 0 to normal speed every second.

Today I tried to delete the certificates from school, and I think I made it work. I added two DNS numbers and a domain search address. But when I got home and started Firefox, it wouldnt work. If I went on a site, it would work, but if I clicked something, it would say that I wasnt connected.

I checked the network settings, and it said approved instead of connected. I deleted the DNS settings, and now I think its working again at home. But now it probably wont work at school. Does anyone know what to do? Has anyone had this problem?

IMac PPC :: Ethernet Is Not Working / Safari Will Not Connect

Apr 7, 2012

On April 2nd I downloaded mail from my ISP mail server using Mac Mail. A couple of days later while downloading mail in Mac Mail all I get are the circles with the triangle. Safari will not connect. I worked with my ISP yesterday, and they think I have a bad cable(s). Today I connected a known good Ethernet cable from the computer to the DSL modem with the same results of no connection with Safari. I am therefore thinking something is wrong with the built in Ethernet. In an iMac PPC G4 flat screen, is Ethernet on a card or part of a chip? Any idea on the cost to fix the problem? There is an Apple Store close to where I live. Once all the cables are reconnected Wi-Fi does work. This leads me to believe that the problem is in the computer, and not the cables.

MacBook Pro :: Not Connect To Internet But Other Devices Are Working

Jun 22, 2014

Device:  macbook pro, 13-inch mid 2010 model

OS X 10.9.2

Earlier today, this computer stopped connecting to the internet.  I am still able to connect to the local wireless and check the status of my airport extreme (current model).  But, all attempts to reach the internet fail.  I've tested other devices (iPad, iPhone, and my mac mini) and they are all still using the wireless to reach the internet without issue.  I even tried plugging the ethernet cable from the wall directly into my macbook (no modem in use, just wall to airport extreme, as we're in an apartment building), but that does not work for the macbook pro either.  I reviewed the network settings for the macbook pro and the mac mini, and noticed that the DNS settings are different between the two - the macbook pro is listing an entry for Search Domains - westell.com, but my mini is not showing any search domains in that setting.  Additionally, the ipv4 addresses are fairly different between the 2 computers, as well as the subnet mask (255.255.255.0 on the macbook, 255.255.252.0 on the mini) and router settings (192.168.1.1 for the macbook, 192.168.80.1 for the mini).  Not sure what I can do to force/clear these settings on the macbook or anything else to check.

OS X :: Unable To Connect To Netgear Wifi Router / Update Not Working?

Apr 13, 2009

It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.

The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.

The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.

If I try to connect using the "command-K" method, I get an message saying "you do not have permission to access this server" after entering my username and password. I also cannot connect as a guest even though I have enabled the guest account on the PC. The PC and iMac are in the same workgroup. OS X :: Can't Connect To Windows Network

Feb 23, 2009

I'm a mac noob. Actually I'm pretty technologically challenged full stop. But I got a mac about a month ago. There's not problem connecting to the internet, it picked it up straight away. However I live in a house full of windows computers which are all wirelessly networked. Sometimes I can connect to them (for no rhyme or reason) and sometimes I can't. I don't particularly care that I can't reach them but I need to be able to connect to my printer. I just plugged my printer straight in the USB and it worked so they're compatible. But my network and computers aren't in the side bar of the finder at the moment. I try clicking "go" and then "connect to server" but I have no idea what my server address is. Is it my IP address or what? as I said I'm technologically challenged.

OS X :: Cannot Connect To Windows SMB Share

Jan 13, 2010

I've recently bought my first mac (mac mini) and frequently access a shared driver that is hosted on a Windows server. Until today I have no issues by going into finder and typing
smb://ip or hostname here
However, today I get:
"There was an error connecting to the server "server". Check the server name or IP address and try again".

The same problem occurs when I try to access it by IP address. I can ping the particular Windows computer just fine in terminal by both host name and IP. I know that sharing works because it's fine on other Windows computers. It seems the problem is in Finder. I have made no changes at all since the last time it worked.

However, I'm extremely stuck trying to connect to the last one which is located on a special DMZ (demilitarized zone) server. On my windows machine I simply use the ip method and I'm prompted for login credentials. It's important to note that the login credentials for this DMZ network share are different than my usual work domain login (the Mac uses that same login with no issues).

The other computer shows up in "Network" on both machines, but they just won't connect.

OS X :: Connect To A Windows 7 Shared Folder?

Dec 4, 2010

So basically, I was given a decent windows machine for free, and I'm trying to convert it into a place where all our family's files can be accessed.

However, I'm having a real tough time trying to connect to the windows 7 computer. I've tried Go>Connect to Server and put in "smb://" then the IP address (192.168.1.105 in this case), and I get the error message saying I should check my IP address and contact my system's administrator.

Now, the part that baffles me the most is that in the finder left hand sidebar, I can see the homeserver and the other computer on the network. When I try to connect to either one of them, it takes a good 15 minutes then the computer gives up, even when I connect with the administrator username and password.

Is it a problem with my computer? I've got them all on the same workgroup (MSHOME) and are connected to the same router.
