OS X :: Uninstalling Linux And Deleting Partition?

Jul 28, 2009

I installed Linux in a partition and now I would like to delete it and delete the partitions. I can't really seem to delete one of them, because it says it's "too small" and the other won't really delete. Here's the page with the instructions on how to install it. Install Linux. Here's some screenshots of my partitions in Disk Utility. I really need to get the whole hard disk free for just the Mac.

Windows On Mac :: Uninstalling XP BootCamp Partition?

Jan 22, 2009

I just bought a new Macbook Pro 2.4 and am looking at putting a copy of XP 32bit on there soon after I get it. However, Windows 7 is also looking pretty nice and since I'll be in college when it's released (I believe) I'll probably end up getting a copy. So, I was just wondering: How easy is it to get rid of a, say, XP boot camp partition? And when you do get rid of it, does it delete all your files and such? Anyways, just looking for some insight on the topic, have been using macs for a long time but this will be the first Intel one.

Windows On Mac :: Deleting Win7 Partition With Disk Utility

Mar 24, 2010

I am planning to upgrade my Windows 7 32 bit bootcamp partition to Windows 7 64 bit. I know I have to do a clean install to do this, so I am planning to wipe my Windows partition and start from scratch. I am trying to figure out how to remove my bootcamp partition though. If I use the bootcamp assistant, it seems like it will only give me 231gb of space back for Mac OSX. I have a 250gb HD, so where is the extra space going since my Windows partition is 42gb? Can I just delete it with Disk Utility to recover the space back? Could I possibly screw this up by using Disk Utility?

Applications :: Deleting Windows Partition With Parallels & Boot Camp?

Apr 27, 2009

I have on my hard drive a Leopard partition and a Windows 7 partition. I am looking to delete the Windows partition and then have the full hard drive as one Leopard partition, hopefully without any reformatting. Firstly when I installed the Windows partition I did so through bootcamp. I also have parallels 4.0 and so I was able to set up a virtual machine (VM) of this bootcamp partition. I want to now completely get rid of windows on my machine though I am not sure of the best way to do so. I guess working backwards is best: delete the parallels VM then delete the bootcamp partition? Is this the best way to do it? Will the deleted space on my hard drive be converted to space on my Leopard partition?

(I wish to get rid of windows because I am having problems with my mac sleeping. I just want to see if windows is the culprit. Hopefully it is as I have tried everything else including an SMC reset, short of reformatting and installing.) I have backups of everything btw.

Windows On Mac :: Bootcamp Backup Via Disk Utility - Restore With Or Without Deleting Partition?

Jun 23, 2009

I would like to "Back-up", "Clone" or create an "Image" or whatever else people call it of my bootcamp installation. I know I can create an "Image" of bootcamp via disk utility but how would I restore it?

Would I first delete the bootcamp partition and then re-create a bootcamp partition and then restore? Or would I just restore? Will the end result be what I am expecting, i.e., my Win 7 install right back to the perfect state of when I created the image?

Right now, let's say my Windows 7 install got smoked one day for whatever reason (it is windows...) and I needed to re-install. Me personally, I would just go into Bootcamp Assistant, delete the Windows partition then create a new one and then get installing. Unfortunately installing and updating takes hours and that is what I am trying to avoid.

Windows On Mac :: Getting Hard Drive Space Back - After Deleting Boot Camp Partition

Dec 27, 2009

I recently got rid of a partition I had made for bootcamp since I never use it, and would rather have the space back. I deleted the partition through disc utility, and then through the partition tab, tried to get back that space by dragging down the tab to restore the space originally set for the partition. When I go to apply this change, it notifies that my hard drive will be re-sized. I accept and then a few minutes later it comes back with the error "Partition failed with the error: Filesystem verify or repair failed" Does anybody know how I can restore this space successfully back into my main hard drive? I've attached some screenshots

OS X :: Uninstalling Programs On Mac?

Sep 6, 2005

I've just switched over from XP and have been problems with uninstalling programs off the Mac (osx tiger). In XP there would normally be a control panel which would show a list of programs on your computer which you could either modify or uninstall. There doesn't appear to be one in mac osx so I decided to drag the file from the applications folder to the trash. It appeared as though everything was fine until I ran a search in spotlight to still find some of the files still on my computer. I was uninstalling Limewire if this helps. I would like to rid my computer of everything associated to this program.

OS X :: Uninstalling And Then Recovering From Trash?

May 25, 2009

I was curious about something. If I was to take a Application from the Application area in OSX and drag it to the trash, it is uninstalled.

Now I've downloaded a program call Apptrap, so it will remove all of the associated files along with the program.

If I were to decide to put the program back in the Applications area of OSX by dragging it, how do I get the associated files back where they belong? I wasn't sure if the program would create new files once I started the program again or what. I removed a program and it had some associated files with it but I don't know where they went and have since deleted them.

What do ya do in a situation like this?

OS X :: Uninstalling And Reinstalling Mac Leopard - How To Know About It

Jun 2, 2009

1. Am I supposed to run any kind of disk maintenance (repairing permissions for example) prior to reinstalling Leopard?

2. Since all of my apps are going to be downgraded to its previous versions that originally came with Leopard installation DVDs, and my OS is going to be downgraded to 10.5.3 (I am on 10.5.7 at the moment), I am in a dilemma. Is it better to go with step-by-step update of Leopard (first download 10.5.4 and install it, than 10.5.5, etc...) or go directly to 10.5.7 from 10.5.3 (I think combo update is all about that, correct me if I am wrong)

3. About all the apps that go with Leopard (iTunes, iMovie, Quick Time Player)... Do you suggest me to update them as soon as I install 10.5.3 or to update to 10.5.7 first and then install all the application updates?

OS X :: Applications Keep Uninstalling Automatically On MBP

Jun 16, 2009

Several applications on my mac keep uninstalling themselves, even whilst In use. For example: I was using firefox, then navigation bar seemed to lock up, so I quit Firefox, then it removed itself from the dock bar - I looked in my applications folder and it was no longer there? Had to download and reinstall to get it working again. Was using photoshop CS4, click 'save for web' and a popup told me it was unable to export as file didn't exist? So I saved my file i was working on, quit photoshop, looked in my applications folder and the entire CS4 package was missing?

To restore this, I opened Time Machine, and found that it had been missing for 3 hours, so restored the Adobe suite (7gb) and it now works again. This has happened to about 8 applications now, cyberduck, carbon copy cloner, adium, appzapper, automater, firefox, adobe? I've ran a disk check on my hard drive and all seems fine, no errors found. I'm also experiencing complete freezes every so often where I'm forced to hold the power button down to turn my mac off and then reboot it - all since this error started happening. I have a Macbook Pro, 17" 2.4ghz, 4gm ram running OS X 10.5.7

ITunes :: Uninstalling And Reinstalling 1password?

May 20, 2012

Soon after reinstalling  Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on my Macbook after a crash, I noticed that my iPhone calendars and contacts were no longer syncing with my mac. After a few days, iTunes would not even recognize my iPhone when I plugged it in. I followed a couple of apple troubleshooting documents and things got worse, to the point where a newly installed iTunes would not start up.In the crash report, I noticed that iTunes was trying to load the 1Password Input Manager, a file left over from an old version of 1Password. Running the 1Password uninstaller, downloaded from their site, and reinstalling 1Password fixed all the above problems.

Software :: Uninstalling Apple Support And Updates Possible?

Dec 23, 2010

I operate Windows xp on Gigabyte Motherboard, Intel Dual Core Processor. I want to uninstall the following software from my computer:
1. Apple Application support v 1.3.2 - 44.50MB
2. Apple Mobile Device Support v 3.2.0.47 - 20.13 MB
3. Apple Software update v 2.1.2.120 - 2.26 MB
4. Bonjour - 1.10 MB

These software show up on my Revo Uninstaller Pro. When I try to uninstall (e.g. Bonjour) a Windows Installer box appears which reads: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" with two buttons 'OK' and 'Cancel' after this line. Below this, another paragraph says: "Click 'OK' to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Bonjour.msi' in the box below". Below, is a box titled "Use source:" In front of it is a button 'Browse'.
