Software :: Uninstalling GarageBand Plugins From Mac
Jul 7, 2009
I'm a relatively new Mac user. I downloaded some free loops for GarageBand today, but don't find they fit my needs, so I'd like to uninstall them, but don't know how. I got them here: [URL] and they installed like any normal software via a .dmg file. I've tried finding them via AppCleaner, but have been unsuccessful.

I am wanting to connect my macbook pro to a recording interface via ADAT over an optical Toslink connection, however, from what I've read on here it looks like that is not possible as the MBP does not natively recognize ADAT data on the optical connection, only S/PDIF.

Most plug-ins don't work on Mail 4.2 in Snow Leopard.
I am using three at the moment that are all working great and they are all free :
1. WideMail is a way to view mail in columns (Ala entourage) it also allows for more customization of the message line:
2. Herald works like growl on steroids you can view your mail as it comes in and scroll through the whole message it also allows you reply without having to revert to mail and I think it looks quite good too.
3 Attachment Scanner How many times have you sent an email promising attachment only to forget to attach the document you want to send? Well this little genius plug-in avoids all that by scanning your email message and if it picks up that you wanted to attach something it pops up a warning before you send off the message. It works very well and has saved me a few times...

From what I heard, Apple considers the user InputManagers directory to be a security risk. This is the mechanism by which plugins were installed for Safari.

McBook, 4 gig Ram 160 gig HD Running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (Intel Core Duo)
I am running Creative Suite CS5 and noticed all plugins will not work, as CS5 works natively in 64 bit. I have tried opening in 32 bit and the beachball of slow goes on indefinitely and will not open in 32? I can still use plugins in CS4 then export product into CS5, but a bit of a long winded route...anyone else?

I installed a copy of the Waves audio plugins into Final Cut Pro 5 to try them out, but no longer want them... and I'm having trouble getting rid of them completely. I deleted the actual Waves plugins folder and the Waves preferences (and everything else spotlight found that had to do with them)... but still when I open FCP it asks me where the Waves plugins had gone. The problem is, I get an error message like this for every single plugin and I have to hit OK on each one. So now whenever I open FCP I have to close about 20 error messages before it finishes loading.
I just finished deleting the entire Final Cut Studio and all associated preference files and re-installing the entire thingbut the damn thing still asks where the Waves plugins are when I open it! Does anyone know where I can delete the file that's telling FCP to look for these plugins?

Are there any plugins or something like that where you can view web pages in Internet Explorer?
I have both Safari and Firefox. Firefox has an IE view add-on, but it doesn't work with Max OSX. I don't want to have to run Boot Camp or similar product to run windows. I just want to see what web pages look like in IE when I am coding.

i watch tv through a website called tvunetworks which requires the installation of a video plugin, i have been using it for a while and have had no problems until today.Im not particularly tech savvy but had the bright idea of upgrading to snow leopard without doing any research and instantly, my plugins do not work any more.
I have tried reinstalling the plugin, but no matter what i do the player still shows up as a question mark and safari prompts me to install the plugin. I have also tried reverting safari to 32 bit but the browser just crashes when i load videos.

Normally it's just a case of getting the plugin and ar she blows but according to the internet the new isync has disabled most of the old plugins. I know I can get them with nova media but I don't really want to spend more money on it... Does anyone know of a method to make plugins work again or know of anywhere I could get one? I've just switched over from XP and have been problems with uninstalling programs off the Mac (osx tiger). In XP there would normally be a control panel which would show a list of programs on your computer which you could either modify or uninstall. There doesn't appear to be one in mac osx so I decided to drag the file from the applications folder to the trash. It appeared as though everything was fine until I ran a search in spotlight to still find some of the files still on my computer. I was uninstalling Limewire if this helps. I would like to rid my computer of everything associated to this program.

I was curious about something. If I was to take a Application from the Application area in OSX and drag it to the trash, it is uninstalled.
Now I've downloaded a program call Apptrap, so it will remove all of the associated files along with the program.
If I were to decide to put the program back in the Applications area of OSX by dragging it, how do I get the associated files back where they belong? I wasn't sure if the program would create new files once I started the program again or what. I removed a program and it had some associated files with it but I don't know where they went and have since deleted them.
What do ya do in a situation like this?

1. Am I supposed to run any kind of disk maintenance (repairing permissions for example) prior to reinstalling Leopard?
2. Since all of my apps are going to be downgraded to its previous versions that originally came with Leopard installation DVDs, and my OS is going to be downgraded to 10.5.3 (I am on 10.5.7 at the moment), I am in a dilemma. Is it better to go with step-by-step update of Leopard (first download 10.5.4 and install it, than 10.5.5, etc...) or go directly to 10.5.7 from 10.5.3 (I think combo update is all about that, correct me if I am wrong)
3. About all the apps that go with Leopard (iTunes, iMovie, Quick Time Player)... Do you suggest me to update them as soon as I install 10.5.3 or to update to 10.5.7 first and then install all the application updates?
