OS X :: Trigger Anxiety With Dashboard Key (F4)?
Jun 9, 2010
I don't use dashboard, but I do use 'Anxiety' to manage my to-do's. It would be cool if I could trigger/pop up Anxiety by hitting the Dashboard key on my keyboard (F4) instead of bringing up the Dashboard.

one has a broken scroll wheel, one is perfectly functional, and another is still new in the box.when plugged into my Mac mini the all of them can trigger expose (squeeze) and dashboard (middle button) every time. right click works beautifully.however when i plug them into my MacBook and set it up for spaces (middle button) and expose (squeeze) - neither of the functions work.

I put "levelwidget" on the dashboard - it is supposed to make a macbook into a Level. Sounded interesting...now I regret! The widget is corrupted and now when I try to open the dashboard it immediately closes and gives me an error message "you can't open the application motion because power pc applications are no longer supported" How do I delete this widget so I can open the dashboard. I've tried to look up the file, but can't seem to find dashboard widget files.

Just pulled the trigger. It should be here early next week. Very excited to get this. I hope it's in as good a shape as everyone says the refurb units are.

I'm trying to fix an issue I had for a while with a automator script I want to use. I added several things it should do, test it, and it works fine. I use it usually as an workflow. But I tried to implement it through an iCal event! Which does not work. (and I checked already in preferences if the turn off all iCal alarms is unchecked) I the workflow basically to open when I first fire up the MacBook, but only once, not when I start it up again later n the day. So I thought about adding the workflow to the startup, but that would open it every time I start my MacBook. How can I get around that? By a iCal event? If yes, how can I fix it, that it starts not at a specific time (I don't start my computer at the same time every day) but when I first open it.

I have attached an audio file behaviour to an object. I want the audio to trigger rotation in both directions. When I select 'add' in 'apply mode', I get plus values for rotation along with amplitude. When I select 'subtract', I get negative values for rotation. But when I select 'add and subtract', I only get positive values. So, for example, for the Y axis, I can have rotation to the left, or rotation to the right, but not both.

I have my Mac "Triple Booted". The "Hard Disks" in the FInder SIdebar shows the "Bootcamp Hard Disk". I used the "Prefenceses in the Finder" to triggered the "Hard Disks" to show the Mac HD. The "Devices - Hard Disks" in the prefenceses, used to be "partially selected", and is now "fully selected" (The Mac HD & Bootcamp HD are both showing in the sidebar). So, "How do I make the Mac HD not showing in the FInder SIdebar"? Making the Device - Hard Disks in the prefences to "partitally select" again?

This poll is just to simply get an idea if dashboard is used by anyone still. I personally still use it, and love it. Problem is...no one devs widgets for it anymore. I think it's a great tool that Apple just needs to rework, and get devs to create for it again.

From the screenshots of 10.7 it looks like Launchpad is replacing Dashboard, there is no icon in the dock. Although I don't use dashboard a lot it is very useful for the calculator and conversion widget.

was running the flash player from Pandora.com in dashboard using a Safari webclip; however this was sucking up 30% of CPU usage even when the player was idle (ie., paused). This was causing my heat fans to run way too often. The Pandora One application (which runs via Adobe Air) only uses 10% CPU when running on the desktop. So I was wanting to see how much CPU it would suck up if I could somehow run it in dashboard.

I make good use of dashboard. I use the calculator and unit conversion tools every day. I also have the TV program and my internet usage tracker displayed always. These are the only four widgets I have on my dashboard 90% of the time. Over the past year I've noticed the dash becoming slower and slower. Earlier this year I upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger hoping this might help (and help boost the computer in general) and while I have seen many improvements, dashboard keeps feeling slower and slower.
E.g. I want to do a simple sum in the calculator. I use a hot corner to activate the dashboard and the calculator is unresponsive for 5-20 seconds, same goes for the unit conversion widget. When I do this many times a day I find it frustrating and that it slows my workflow down. I've taken to my handheld calculator again but would prefer to use dashboard for ease of use. I'm running a MBP 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory and Mac OS X 10.6.4 if that helps.

For a while now the command-tab, dashboard key and spaces key do not work. I press the key and nothing happens. If I restart the OS (OS X 10.5.5) they work but only for a short time and stop working again. Other accounts on the system work fine and do not have this problem.

I have heard of a program that loads and then hides Dashboard when you first start your computer, so it's ready to be viewed later (I'd like it because I use the delivery status widget with grown notifications, but it only notifies me up the updates in the delivery status of dashboard has been loaded once since the computer has been turned on) quickly. I know it's out there but I can't seem to find it again. Did I dream up this application or is it out there?

Is it possible to configure USB Overdrive to access Dashboard and Expose using the middle mouse button and one of the thumb buttons?
The control panel has options for what actions to take when these buttons are pressed, but Dashboard/Expose are not among the choices. Trying to assign a keystroke to the buttons doesn't work either because when I try, the keys activate Dashboard or Expose rather than capturing the key in USB Overdrive's keystroke window.

Is there a way to keep dashboard active all the time? What i mean is, everytime i click on the dashboard icon it shows-up on the screen and the other programs running on the background just fades. And if i switch to any other programs/applications dashboard does not show-up anymore.
To be more concise, i would like to have it at my screen all the time without having to click it (of course i do have to click for the first time ). Is it possible?

So I like to set up my dashboard with 3x weather widgets, since we have microclimates here where I live and iStat pro to monitor the system.
The problem is, the weather and iStat widgets like to move when I open up dashboard. When it refreshes, the position gets somewhere else, usually lower or upper. I have to 'killall Dock' to refresh the dashboard to its original position.

I'd like to re-assign the Dashboard key (F4) on my 13" MBP to Expose's "Show Desktop". So far I've been doing this with FunctionFlip, but its not remapping the key reliably anymore. It only works when the Finder is in the foreground; any other applications, pressing F4 brings up Dashboard instead of the desired Expose Show Desktop. Anyone know of other methods to re-assign the Dashboard key? I'm running 10.6.2.
