Windows On Mac :: Sound In Windows Vista (64bit) Not Working Right Under BootCamp 3.0?
Sep 24, 2009Last night I installed Windows Vista to run a game on here, but I got several issues. I already installed the drivers from the Snow Leopard DVD, but the problems still persist.
The issues are:
1. Sound is very very low and uneven. I have the volume all the way maxed, but the loudest it can go is less than half than the potential volume in Snow Leopard.
2. Headphones don't work. I've tried like 3 pairs of headphones and none of them work. When I plug them in, the sound still comes from the left speaker (I can barely hear the right speaker) on the laptop and not on the headphones. Also, the headphone jack is emitting a red light out of it.
3. The lights on the keyboard won't shut off. I used the F5 key to turn off the keyboard backlighting, and while it goes very dim they won't shut off.
I already tried the suggestions on this thread but none of those fixes work. I need help! Especially with the sound! Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running a MacBook Pro 13" from June 2009, 2.26GHz Intel, 4GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce 9400M. I instlled a 64bit version of Windows Vista (OEM).

Nov 13, 2009i recently installed a copy of windows vista basic and noticed that i couldn't get sound even after i installed all the drivers on the boot camp cd, i also tried installing the realtek drivers but that doesnt seem to have helped, when i go to the control panel it says that i have a week sound coming out of the speakers but i cant even here that.

Jun 9, 2008I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate using Bootcamp. It runs fine with just a couple of anomalies.
First is that the sound quality is quite poor...almost like AM radio...I've tried installing the latest Realtek drivers but it's made no difference. I've stuck it onto "Rock" preset and that has improved things slightly but I was wondering if there was a proper fix for this?
Also, even though Vista see's that I have dual processors and correctly reports them (and I get two CPU usage graphs under task manager) applications such as dBpoweramp don't see it and run in single processor mode? Aga

Feb 6, 2010there i have a macbook pro and i have recently installed windows vista 32 on it using boot camp. also recently i have updated boot camp to 3.1 and my sound seems to have stopped working.
Although the red light in my headphone jack is gone my speaker icon on the right hand corner has a x on it and i cannot hear anyhting now. i have cheaked my sound driver and it is up to date cirrus logic cirrus logic cs4206a

Aug 14, 2009Everything seems to be working well except there is no sound from speakers on the Vista side. Still OK on Mac (of course).
I have iMac 3.06gHz
Checked that sound is not muted etc.
It does seem to have two volume controls (Vista) in the dock? One Realtek and one Mixer. Neither are muted. Device Manager says all is ok and running latest software.
One other small matter is that I can't seem to load a network adapter. It finds new hardware everytime I open but can't find any software and as I don't know what I'm looking for I am sort of stuck.

May 21, 2010I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
Any ideas to would i could try to do?

Jan 15, 2010I recently installed windows vista (home edition) via bootcamp on my macbook pro.
Everything is running perfectly apart from the sound. I think it might an issue with the computers sound card. When I plug my headphones into the audio output jack, no sound comes through... it still plays out of the speakers. The sound is audible, but just barely.
What may be causing this? Are there any specific drivers I need to install?

Mar 11, 2012My Macbook Pro (purchased Dec 2010) falls asleep when I am in the middle of using it (typing, clicking, watching a tv show).There will be no display or sound, and it will sleep. Most times it will wake up when I click the touchpad alot or close and reopen the screen. However, sometimes I will need to restart. I am not sure why it is doing this all the sudden. It is happening more and more often. How can I fix it? The AC Adapter is plugged in, battery work normally and I set the energy saver so that it would not sleep when plugged in.

May 10, 2009I've installed vista 64 on my new MBP unibody, and installed vista 64 ultimate under boot camp, got boot camp update from [URL] for 64 vista, but there are 2 problems: 1st is the overheating issue, it is extreemly hot at the front edge where the radiating holes seems are, got speedfan and remapper software, doesn't work in vista. 2nd is the sound issue, there is NO SOUND at all. anybody having the same problems? anyone knows how to solve them?

Aug 12, 2009I just got my new 2009 13" MacBook Pro. I have installed Vista and loaded my Boot Camp drivers. I am trying to use the built in microphone for Skype. It appears in the Sound menu in the control panel as a working audio input and sound recorder works perfectly as well. However, whenever I select the microphone in Skype, there is no sound. The mic comes up as a Cirrus Logic CS4206A(AB75) device. Skype won't get any input from the mic. Does anyone know how to use Skype in Boot Camp with the new MacBook Pro hardware?

MacBook Air :: Browser Windows Dimming While Active On It
Mar 14, 2012Just recently I purchased a MacBook Air 13'' (1.7 GHz, 4GB, 256GB) with Lion installed in it and I have got an external monitor attached to it. It's been working really well for a couple of weeks, but in the last couple of days I have noticed how my browser windows, and only those!, for either FireFox, Chrome or Safari, keep dimming themselves while I am on other windows from other applications as if they were inactive, when they are not, because I am using the Mac still. And I can only get them to work again, i.e. loading Web sites, only after I click on them to activate them, which is annoying, because I may be on another window, would need to click on a link and it won't load on the browser window till I have clicked on it, on the browser window, that is.
I have searched in Google and found a couple of articles where it was highlighted how the problem may well be with the Settings under "Energy Saver" and I have got unticked in there for "Slightly dim the display when using this power source" and "Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep" and still the same problem. Other articles suggested that I would try Caffeine and install it to get rid of the dimming of the screen, but even after installing I still have got the issues and I am, at this point, running out of ideas.

Feb 18, 2010I use MBP Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and use both Safari 4.0.4 and Chrome for browsing, and it is increasingly happening (on both browsers) that I need to click outside the active window (i.e. go to the menu bar and click on it, anywhere on it, to be able to press a link or a new tab buttons inside the open window). If I don't do that the active window buttons or links do not work, they depress or shade or do whatever, but do not actually do the function.

I learned how to enable Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard's NTFS read-write capability today and so I no longer need to keep my first two partitions as FAT32 (especially since I have files larger than 4 GB I would like to store on them). I have data on the first FAT32 partition that I would like to transfer to the second FAT32 partition once I have reformatted it as NTFS whereby I will then be able to reformat the first FAT32 partition to NTFS without losing my data.I have nothing important on the second FAT32 partition, but when I opened Disk Management in Administrative Tools in Windows 7, I found that the second FAT32 partition is currently set as the active partition of that volume. Dec 23, 2009I upgraded my HDD, I simply used disk Utility to move data for the OSX HFS partition.
I tried to use Winclone to move but that didn't work too well, plus there is a unnecessary image step, so I ended up moving using disk utility again which again went fine.
The only problem is that rather than creating the partition through bootcamp assistant, I created it straight in diskutility and windows is not bootable.
I tried using fdisk to fix but that didn't work.
The partition table is GUID based and the windows partition is NTFS.

1.Open up bootcamp assistant
2.Partition, divide equally(116GB each)
3.Insert Vista disk and start installation
4.Install Vista and insert CD key
5.custom installation
6.Now this is where i stuck
I have 4 options, and i should choose the last one which says bootcamp 116gb, but i cant click it since it says the disk need to have NTFS format. How can i set so that i partiton it to NTFS?

Apr 10, 2009I was able to get Windows Vista 64 running on my 17" MBP, it is pretty slick. I set aside 32 GB for Windows, ran the install, loaded all the appropriate Boot Camp drivers and everything is working perfectly in Windows. I boot back to OS X to attempt to configure Parallels...
So I fired up Parallels and follow the guided instructions. However, when I get to step 2 Im not sure what I should be doing. I already have Windows on its own partition, but Parallels is asking me for a CD/DVD image. Im a little leery of putting the Win disc back in, I dont want Parallels to always want to boot from the disc. how do I tell Parallels to load Windows as a Virtual Machine off of the Boot Camp partition?
The partition Boot Camp created now appears on my Desktop in OS X as Untitled, I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to change that. If I eject that volume will I still be able to Boot to Windows? Will Parallel still work?

Well The internet on parallels works fine because it is using osx network, but when i boot into bootcamp the network drivers seem to be missing. I cant figure it out, but it says the ethernet and network drivers are not there.
