Applications :: DVD Ripper For Mac Server 10.5
Jan 26, 2009I need a ripper that works with 10.5 server. I have tried Hand brake and Mac the ripper. Mac the ripper does not work at all. Hand brake goes through the motions, but never saves the file. I used the same version on my core duo macbook and it worked fine. Any ideas? I don't mine paying for one.

One network server/gateway is 192.168.0.1 and the other is 192.168.1.1, everything works, every client can see every client and every client can see every serverSo far so good.But what I can't do is ping from Mac server one (192.168.0.1) to the other mac server on the other network (192.168.1.1) and vice versa. May 7, 2012I am having difficulty binding clients to multiple open directory servers. All clients are running Lion. This issue did not occur under Snow Leopard. The servers are both Mac OS X Servers running Open Directory. There are two domains to which the client is successfully bound (DomainA and DomainB). If a user attempts to login using credentials from DomainB, they log in successfully but home folders are "not in the expected location" - so no data is present. If I unbind the client from DomainA and then attempt to login using credentials from DomainB, the issue is resolved. Is there a way to set a priority for how the client binds?

Aug 23, 2010I have a 2009 Mac Mini Server with iStat Server installed. When I connect to iStat server with the iPhone app, I see no network usage (even though it is being used). iStat Pro widget will show the usage just fine. Any ideas on why its not showing up with iStat Server?

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Not Netbooting, But It Shows Up?
May 18, 2012I'm trying to get my machines to netboot off the netboot image I created. When I go to my startup disk panel of my client mac, the netboot image shows up in the drive list and I restart.
It flashes the globe for a second, but ends up just booting from the internal HDD of the client.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Folder Not Showing All Contents (but Contents Are In Fact There)
Mar 12, 2012I'm running Lion on an 27" iMac (first i7 iteration), and have a folder on an external HDD that contains a couple of hundred subfolders.
However - when viewing them in Finder, only the first hundred or so display.
The others are there - searching the disc finds the folders and their contents and, once, the contents are located, they'll display in the expanded view.
I copied the offending folder across to the Mac's main HD, but this behaviour came across with it. This, by the way, was happening on Snow Leopard too before I upgraded to Lion.

Mar 7, 2012So this is my first time really implementing Macs in an Active Directory environment and everything is going fairly well, except when it comes to the Home directory. All of my users are running 10.7, and with the latest patch, they can all log into the Domain without any issue. The problem is that their Home directory in the dock is displayed as a question mark. I'm guessing I'm missing something in the configuration, but everything looks right. Anyone have the 411 about how to set up a Mac user to map a Home directory to a network share on a Wiindows 2008 AD network?

Dec 30, 2010So I just got a new AppleTV for Christmas. I started saving my movies to my computer/iTunes. Tried Casino Royale with RipIt and it turned out great. However since then I've tried Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (the extended edition) several different times and I just haven't gotten it to work.
Tried it with RipIt and it flat out didn't work. Didn't even result in a playable format. Tried Handbrake and the audio drops out completely 3/4 of the way through side A of the movie. Tried ripping it via MakeMKV then converting it to an AppleTV friendly format through Handbrake and the video turned out horrible. Then I tried ripping it via Mac The Ripper and then compressing via Handbrake it and once again the audio drops out completely. Is there any other way to get the extended edition of Lord of the Rings into iTunes with good video quality and not having the audio dropout problems?

It was good because it showed the titles on the DVD especially the TV series discs that several episodes. I have looked at a few different programs but they only show the DVD files in their native format, not the individual episodes.

Dec 4, 2009I read a post the other day saying how people use MTR to rip onto the HDD and then use HB to do the encoding (thus saving usage on the optical drive).
However, I don't quite get the point. I'm trying to rip the last disc of Family Guy which has two eps and then a ton of pointless extras. With HandBrake I can see which two are the eps and rip them. With MTR I jave to do all 6.5GBs and then encode - it takes ages!
Can I not preview and set up a queue in MTR?

Dec 30, 2009I'm really frustrated of all the crap free DVD ripping programs so I've decided to buy one. Handbrake will only rip certain region ones, MacTheRipper gives me this DUMMY VOB warning and I'm just wasting my time. I don't think any of the free ones will actually be good because the movie industry is trying to make everything so hard. I guess the paid ones will be better since they probably have a special way of working around the DVD. So yes finally. I just can't be bothered anymore. I'll buy one. Conditions:
1) Ones that can rip the EXTRAS & BONUS FEATURES (like bloopers and DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY) of the DVD as well as the movie itself
2) Good quality
3) Good price (not too over-priced)
4) Converter so that I can put it on my iPod but I want other formats. Avi and stuff like that, ones that I actually need. Unlike WAV or OGG or other ones that I haven't even heard of.

Feb 20, 2008I wanted to make a backup of a double-sided DVD using Mac The Ripper. It ripped one side with no problem but refuses the other one. It recognizes the presence of the DVD, seems to scan the DVD correctly and the Go! button is then ready to be pushed, but when pushed it flashes (in a tiny fraction of a second) the word Cancel that's in the same box and does nothing else. I've looked in the manual; I've tried restarting MTR; I've tried rebooting the computer; I've tried all that again on another computer. Nothing seems to make any difference.

Jun 3, 2008I downloaded MTR to rip some of the Region 1 DVDs I own. My MAC is set to Region 2, as I am in Belgium. At the end of the rips I receive a message saying that the disk has bad sectors and may not be played properly. Indeed, VLC refuses to play the ripped files... I know that this is most likely the Arccos protection. However, I thought that MTR 2.6.6 was able to remove it. You can even select this in under the "Mode" section, there are two options to strip off the Arccos protection.

Apr 20, 2010I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on a MacBook3,1 (Late 2007). I'm currently having issues with the Finder. Current symptoms are:
1. When I click a directory in the Dock to open it in the Finder, I get an error that reads "You can't open the application Finder because it may be damaged or incomplete."
2. I've tried repairing permissions (from the OS and from the Install Disc), but the Disk Utility doesn't make any repairs even though it tells me it has made the repairs, because the exact same errors come up the next time I try to repair the permissions.
3. I also verified the disk, and it said I had to start from boot from another volume and repair the disk, so I booted from the install DVD and did so.....................
