Applications :: Can Use System As The Ripper For Menu
Jan 11, 2009
When using MTR I wanted to know if I could rip it so that i still have the menu's and chapter (and the main feature). If i was to choose Title-Chapter it comes up with S chapters and E chapters.. so i select the first S and last E?
I used DVD Decrypter on my PC, but now that I have a Mac, it doesn't work on Macs. I downloaded Mac The Ripper, but what used to take 5 minutes to rip a DVD, now take a half an hour.
So I just got a new AppleTV for Christmas. I started saving my movies to my computer/iTunes. Tried Casino Royale with RipIt and it turned out great. However since then I've tried Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (the extended edition) several different times and I just haven't gotten it to work.
Tried it with RipIt and it flat out didn't work. Didn't even result in a playable format. Tried Handbrake and the audio drops out completely 3/4 of the way through side A of the movie. Tried ripping it via MakeMKV then converting it to an AppleTV friendly format through Handbrake and the video turned out horrible. Then I tried ripping it via Mac The Ripper and then compressing via Handbrake it and once again the audio drops out completely. Is there any other way to get the extended edition of Lord of the Rings into iTunes with good video quality and not having the audio dropout problems?
I need a ripper that works with 10.5 server. I have tried Hand brake and Mac the ripper. Mac the ripper does not work at all. Hand brake goes through the motions, but never saves the file. I used the same version on my core duo macbook and it worked fine. Any ideas? I don't mine paying for one.
Anyone familiar with this program on PC? I am after a Mac equivalent if one exists. Basically it allows you to rip a DVD straight to .avi, .mov etc without having to save the image first. It was good because it showed the titles on the DVD especially the TV series discs that several episodes. I have looked at a few different programs but they only show the DVD files in their native format, not the individual episodes.
I read a post the other day saying how people use MTR to rip onto the HDD and then use HB to do the encoding (thus saving usage on the optical drive).
However, I don't quite get the point. I'm trying to rip the last disc of Family Guy which has two eps and then a ton of pointless extras. With HandBrake I can see which two are the eps and rip them. With MTR I jave to do all 6.5GBs and then encode - it takes ages!
I'm really frustrated of all the crap free DVD ripping programs so I've decided to buy one. Handbrake will only rip certain region ones, MacTheRipper gives me this DUMMY VOB warning and I'm just wasting my time. I don't think any of the free ones will actually be good because the movie industry is trying to make everything so hard. I guess the paid ones will be better since they probably have a special way of working around the DVD. So yes finally. I just can't be bothered anymore. I'll buy one. Conditions:
1) Ones that can rip the EXTRAS & BONUS FEATURES (like bloopers and DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY) of the DVD as well as the movie itself 2) Good quality 3) Good price (not too over-priced) 4) Converter so that I can put it on my iPod but I want other formats. Avi and stuff like that, ones that I actually need. Unlike WAV or OGG or other ones that I haven't even heard of.
I've heard of one called Aisesoft? And also Toast 10?
I've tried bringing stuff over on CD, but its not really working as its not massively organised like in my PC iTunes, and obviously on the phone. Does anyone know a good ripper, but free? I've searched the forums, and google'd it, but they're all costing, and I've just spent enough money on this damn MacBook Pro!
is there a way to keep the menu bar open always, without altering system codes or erasing system folders? when anything is in full screen, it disappears and I want to see the clock.
Today I restore from a Backup, and the icons despair from the right side of the menu bar, I go to system and I check the network to appear in the menu bar but the apply tab is not hightligted I try with other with the same result
I'm trying to figure out why I can't get my menu bar to be translucent on my MacBook. It works just fine on the PowerBook G4. Look at these:PowerBook G4 set to translucent:MacBook set to translucent:MacBook not set to translucent
I wanted to make a backup of a double-sided DVD using Mac The Ripper. It ripped one side with no problem but refuses the other one. It recognizes the presence of the DVD, seems to scan the DVD correctly and the Go! button is then ready to be pushed, but when pushed it flashes (in a tiny fraction of a second) the word Cancel that's in the same box and does nothing else. I've looked in the manual; I've tried restarting MTR; I've tried rebooting the computer; I've tried all that again on another computer. Nothing seems to make any difference.
I downloaded MTR to rip some of the Region 1 DVDs I own. My MAC is set to Region 2, as I am in Belgium. At the end of the rips I receive a message saying that the disk has bad sectors and may not be played properly. Indeed, VLC refuses to play the ripped files... I know that this is most likely the Arccos protection. However, I thought that MTR 2.6.6 was able to remove it. You can even select this in under the "Mode" section, there are two options to strip off the Arccos protection.
My Mac the Ripper and Popcorn quits before they open? A window comes up and said Click to re-open the application and a report will be sent to Apple? I'm using 10.6.8.
copying DVD's. When I had a PC, I used to use DVD shrink to convert large Dual layer DVDs down to sizes that would fit on a single layer DVD. I downloaded mac the ripper and it works, but it does not downsize DVD's.
I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.
my "services" menu has disappeared as an option in finder. When I try to access it by right-clicking a finder item (folder or file), it's just plain missing. However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.
Just today it began that when I try and open iChat from the Menu Bar icon, the whole right side of the menu bar reboots. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea of steps I can take to fix it?
I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?
I'm just thinking, the File, Edit, etc., menus seem to be becoming more and more obsolete, as things move into the main window, look at Google Chrome, or Office 2011, I know Apple apps haven't done it yet, and maybe it's just because I'm from Windows recently, but it just seems to take up space unnecessarily.
I have seen many screenshots (like the one below) of modified menu bars that have probably been made using some application. I like how you can change the WiFi icon to cell bars. And I have no idea how they got links to Macintosh HD, movies and TV shows on the desktop. Does anyone know what app that is?
And on the desktop, I have seen that some people have their iTunes album artwork and the song playing show on their desktops. I have many different commands, like the date and time, running on my desktop using Geektool. But I have never thought that geektool would be able to show the artwork though. Is there another app that lets you have this or is it also geektool?
