View 2 RepliesI bought my first MacBook Pro in April 2008. In 2010 I had a problem with MBP/Display, the logicboard problem which occurs with many MBP. As this was resloved with test and replacement of logicboard, it was good until last night
But since yesterday I've had to experience the Vertical Stripping, shadows at bottom of screen. I restarted the machine, I shut it down and this problem hasn't disappeared.
I did research online, checking the System profiler--->Graphics Displays--->PCIe Lane Width:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â x16--->GeForce 8600M GT
Nothing appears to be out of sorts, also I did a hardware test from start up and no hardware problems were found.Â
So what now? I'm using the MBP now as I type, I still have use of the machine but the vertical striping is not going away.Â

I've got a iMac 27" mid 2010.
I see since several months some shadows and spots on the top left corner of the screen. I've read in many threads that this is a known issue (defect I would say, since I never misused my iMac).Â
My question is:
is this defect recognized by Apple and do they fix it for free?

I have no idea what's causing it. I had a feeling it was VLC, but the lines show up when it's closed. The lines aren't fixed, they move with the window. It's like the window shadowing thingy is broken. I've done the obvious, repair permissions, reboot.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy display appears to have two diagonal white streaks on the dark screen when it is off - I'm finding this really disturbing as this machine is still well under a year old and I can find no reason for this. it doesn't show up when the screen is on or I'm working on it.

I want to white out a couple of lines on a PDF form. White out. No box lines, no shadows. White. As in those lines disappear. What is the deal with the shadows? Is there a way to just have parts of a doc whited out?

I've just received a brand new MBP 15 i7 with high res. matte screen. Occasionally the screen becomes sort of distorted by red pixelated shadows that seem to depend on the current wallpaper, and also to some extent stay in the background when white background windows are opened. I have posted a picture taken by camera on Flickr, since a screenshot will not capture it. The funny thing is that I can make it disappear by closing the computer and reopen it again. I cannot force it to appear again though. Is it a driver problem? It doesn't appear on the startup splash screen or on secondary monitors. Here is the photo of the phenomenon: [URL]

I tried the two responses that said to delete some plugins to get Safari to let PDFs go to Finder so they could be downloaded. Didn't work for me. I'm guessing I accidentally changed something in Safari (Security?) that prevents the switchover; I don't get the four icons at the bottom of the screen for certain documents (Including the one inviting a download PDF to Finder), while it works for others. So I have to request paper copies of some forms to be snailmailed to me, rather than emailed.

All of the icons and screens have been blown up which extends beyond the boundary of the monitor. It acts as though the display has been magnified and the Dock and other frames disappear off the screen. How to reset this to normal display?

Recently I've been having a problem with the way my icons are arranged. It's like the screen its moved a little bit up. There's an image to show you how it looks like when it happens (because it happens sometimes, I dunno what I causes). Also, when my mac enter sleeping mode, the login screen its moved a little bit up too.

Subject pretty much says it all. The Mac is a macBook with Yosemite. The iPhone is an iPhone6. When I plug the iPhone in, select the iPhone, select apps,
I see a list of apps located approximatly in the middle of the screen, with the option to select remove or install. On the right the home screens are shown etc.
I'm unable to select an icon on any of these screens. When I click an icon and attempt to drag it, ITunes wants to move the entire home screen.

What does a grey screen with a flashing globe icons mean?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm having some issues with my Macbook Pro that just arose today. Randomly, when I'm on Safari, the screen will flash a little and the icons at the bottom will disappear. They will come back in a couple seconds and pop-ups that I usually only get when I first log on will appear. Safari also refreshes the page I was viewing. I did a little research and thought the issue might be google drive, but I do not have it installed on my Mac.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the Agua version and I'm on the newest version of Snow Leopard. I would post a screen shot if I knew how to. But when I open OpenOffice in Applications you get the start screen where you usually get to choose between the different programs. First of all on the text "Welcome to openoffice", the bottom half of "Welcome to" is missing. And then all the icons below are kind of stacked onto each other so you can only access some of them and its impossible to see what the icons does, cause the text for them also run into each other.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe've had a Macbook now for about 18 months - no problems. However, last night it was very slow in starting-up and then we found it impossible to move any icons around the screen (click+drag). We have just five small folders on the desktop.
Although 'hiding' is 'on', the dock has also disappeared completely and settings for the dock cannot be changed under preferences.
The Macbook won't turn off under 'shut-down', we have to shut-down by holding pressing 'on' button.
How does one arrange icons from left to right a Windows. I would like the Mac disk icon in the upper left of the window followed by app and file icons to appear in alphabetical order from left to right. I know it will go vertically and then to the next row.Â

I have to hit program folder twice to see the icons in this folder.I have a 17" 2.9 GHZ Unibody,
When I go into the finder and hit "Programs" the folder opens but no icons are shown, If I hit it a second time (via left menu in window) they are shown roght away.
I place document icons in my finder sidebar, and sometime later they change to folder icons. Does not matter which application they come from, it seems to happen to them all, but they are still linked to the correct documents.

On my desktop the little disk image icons are coming up when i open certain applications. I wanna make them disappear, but still be able to see ipods, cds, and external drives.
Also(somewhat irrelevant), occasionally when i open firefox, it asks me to drag it in the applications folder, but it's already there. please help. its so annooying
i am a tad stumped by this issue i'm having right now with my new imac. i noticed one day that none of my desktop aliases show any longer. in fact if i go to the desktop folder through finder my files and such show in there however none of my aliases nor those files show on the actual desktop. another thing i've noticed is that whenever i now try to drag and drop anything to the desktop whether it be a URL from safari or an alias i made in finder the dragged item simply just drags itself back to where i pulled it from.
