I have been trying for 2 days now,I downloaded some games just as an example to add to the iphone but cant get them to move,it says drag to home screen but still after 2 days cant do it. They should be highlighted but there not.
View 2 RepliesHow does one arrange icons from left to right a Windows. I would like the Mac disk icon in the upper left of the window followed by app and file icons to appear in alphabetical order from left to right. I know it will go vertically and then to the next row.

and how do I stop it?
At first I thought I was seeing things so to be sure I purposely moved some app icons to the far left and low and behold about 30 or so minutes later it moved them almost all the way to the right.
I checked the dock settings and there doesn't seem to be a setting for this. I did a search on the forum already couldn't find anything. This is nothing TOO major but perhaps if I understood why it's doing it I might be willing to accept it.
I have a problem with Safari especially. It keeps moving on my dock. I place it on the left and after a few seconds, it moves all the way to the right. I move it again where I want it and the same thing happens over and over.

I want to transfer the OS and applications to an SSD and leave my home directory on Primary. I Googled moving your home directory and understand how this is done. I'd like some comments on the procedure I have thought of which involves Primary, SDD and primary external backup (I have a secondary backup).
1. Install 80 GB Intel X25-M SSD and format as appropriate
2. Clone Primary to on-site external backup drive using superduper & change boot drive to external backup
3. Boot from external backup
4. Delete most of my user content from external backup until external backup only uses about 60 GB
5. Clone contents of external backup to SSD and then change boot drive to SSD
6. Boot from SSD
7. Move home directory from SSD to Primary
8. Boot from SSD to confirm home directory changed
9. Delete home directory from SSD
10. Delete OS and application files from Primary so only user content is left
11. Create new backups for SSD and Primary
I have been trying to figure out why my MBA seems to be so odd?
I am running 10.6.2 OSX and every time I try to move the icons around in the dock they either move place by themselves or delete themselves?
This is especially true with browser icons. For example I could have safari open and try to move the icon in the dock from the far right towards the left ..... It will do this and stay there for approx. 5 seconds and then return back to the far right.?
If I close the safari program the icon disappears from the dock. If I then try to drag the safari program into the dock from the applications folder, it will sit there for 5 seconds again and then just delete itself off the dock. This also happens to Skype, Firefox etc.....
I have tried everything from terminal / killall Dock ..... to deleting files from /Users/~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist etc with nothing working ??
// ps I do have a mobileme account with syncing function but have dock syncing turned off etc .... I have also tried re-booting multiple times after trying different routes and nothing has worked.
After trying nearly everything I can think of (even checking repairing in disk utility) I seem to have drawn a blank.
So I have enclosed a video of my desktop showing the problem of the disappearing icons. The weirdest part is its selective so some icons could stay when being dragged their while other disappear in a matter of seconds?
My desktop icons keep moving after reboot to the right hand side and arranged by name. Now: I have tried resetting the the views options, changing the grid size, changing the icon size, repairing permissions in the disk utility. I have tried all these, with reboots in between and in differing orders.

1. How can i move my desktop icons to other spaces ? For example I want to create a new space for image files on my desktop so whenever i go to Space 6 i will see different desktop icons. Basically, as we separate apps in different spaces, can we separate icons ?
2. How can i get the benefit from my scroll wheel ? In safari, i want to click on mouse wheel and scroll up and down the page.
3. Zoom function in photo preview and iphoto is not user friendly, i cannot use mouse wheel to zoom in and out like i do in picasa ?
I am going to install a SSD in my MacPro, probably will re-install SL from scratch. I will move my user folder to another drive, since the SSD is too small. Is moving the user folder 100% safe? Should I look out for any issues after/before I move it?

i would like to move some of the media folders in the home folder to another partition, for example the Movies, Pictures, Music, maybe even Documents and also keep the folder icons.Just recreating them in the other partition I lose the folder icons/designs so is there a good way to do this?I have already recreated a downloads folder and pointed all relevant programs to download anything into that folder/partition but I dont have the nifty icon...I cant delete any of the existing ones in the home folder even if I recreate them and I wonder what the repercussions are if I do it to my music folder i.e itunes etc

I have two of them in the top left corner of my dashboard, and they seem to move down on the screen. I can't figure out when it's happening, it might be correlated with rebooting or something, but I'm not sure. My other widgets stay put, the weather widgets just seem to want to, well, go south.

I recently purchased Final Cut Pro X to edit GoPro videos to share with my friends and family on YouTube. I'm shooting and editing in 1080p @ 60 fps. My experience had gone pretty well, going through the intro screen, introducing each of my cousins and my brother. I had started to fiddle around with keyframes to have the text follow their faces for a cool effect I saw in a video once, and it looked pretty good, but I found it to be incredibly time consuming. So when it got to my part of the intro, I wanted to see if I could try to spice things up and have the effect where you freeze frame shots of yourself at different points in an activity. Well since we shot it all by hand, the shot is incredibly shaky, so I had to try to negate the shakiness by freezing the frame in one area, and it looks good, but took me forever to get the frames right. So now my idea was to just copy the same keyframes I had from before to the next photo, and the next, and so on. But once I figured out the timing, I realized that the image of me is just slightly positioned to the left of where I actually should be. Here's the problem, whenever I try to drag that photo around screen to where my body actually is, it just moves the one, single keyframe, not the whole segment of upwards of 200 individual keyframes I had placed.

all the items/icons on the top right hand corner of my macbook pro are missing i don't know what happend and i now want to switch to my other account and i'm unable to do so because of this incident does any one know how to solve this? i already tried to download butler two times-- i thought maybe i could use that to switch over but butler isn't responding despite having been successfully downloaded.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt started recently, and I've had this Mac Pro (10.6) for several years. Sometimes, when I move a window, it doesn't redraw the screen *under* it properly, leaving my screen completely messed up. Activating Dashboard (temporarily) fixes it (causes a correct re-draw of everything), and sometimes taking a screengrab fixes it - the display looks correct underneath the area I am selecting for screengrab. A reboot fixes it also, for a while. Sometimes a Firefox window goes completely black, for some seconds, then comes back; haven't noticed that for any other programs' windows. I have 4 monitors connected to this Mac and a bunch of internal drives, but everything was very stable until recently.
